Our Spring was good for trees and grass,

the pollen’s high but that will pass.

Winter’s gone and none too soon,

enjoy the warmth til’ Harvest Moon.

A piece we own of our great earth,

means more to us than it is worth.

Quite small but thank our lucky stars,

because no debt and it’s all ours.

A peaceful place to sit and read,

there’s not much more that we both need.

No Ball & Chain around our neck,

we sit in peace upon Our Deck.

In My Perfect World

In my perfect world – all food would be sweet,

and sugar would be in all that I eat.

Cookies for breakfast – pie just for lunch,

Ice cream for dinner and Skittles to munch.

Sweets would be packed with all the good stuff,

required ingredients to make you look buff.

Spinach would really put on the pounds,

broccoli would be there way out of bounds.

Brussel & sprouts would be bad for the heart,

Twinkies; however, would make you be smart.

The more sugar you ate the better for you,

the healthiest dish would be M&M stew.

In my perfect world – I’d have a leg up,

good fortune would runneth over my cup.

so strike up the band and beat on the drum,

and bring on the sweets for more years to come.

I am a Washaholic

I am a Washaholic - I freely do admit.

Developed it while I was young - I don’t intend to quit.

It started with a Chevy – a traveled ’53,

I polished out the rusty spots – a sense of pride for me.

A 3-speed on the column – a gutless flat head 6,

propensity for using oil – a fact I could not fix.

I washed it almost every day – I liked to see it shine,

I relished when it looked its best – because it was all mine.

No matter what the model was – I washed them all the same,

If there is something wrong with me – I have no one to blame.

Sprinklers are my enemy along with food and such,

they used to drive me crazy but now they don’t so much.

This washing’s an obsession – I don’t know what to say?

Right here you see my current ride – I washed it just today.

Growing up goes way too fast!

For tortured hours she did spend,

upon this seat for miles on end.

Not one complaint or even three,

a friend, of sorts, the DVD.

Was always up for any thing,

on the trip we took this spring.

Be it Kin that we would meet,

or sitting on a tractor seat.

She seemed at ease though far from home,

in new settings we did roam,

It helped she brought some friends with whom,

she talked to in our motel room.

She is a ham – there is no doubt,

with many smiles and little pout.

It is a joy to have her near,

a privilege that we sure hold dear.

She’s coming close to turning three,

enjoying time with her’s the key.

Her Mom was little in the past,

her growing up went way too fast!

So many sites – so many ways,

to visit the Internet often these days.

Some search for friendship – some search for porn,

some search for history before they were born.

Some search for others who think like they do,

some search for stuff that goes in a stew.

Some check the scores on games that are played,

some look for clothes and boots made of suede.

No matter the reason you come to our site,

whether to visit or whether to write.

I’ll tell you all something because it is true,

My sincerest “Thanks” from me straight to you!

Now it is My Time

I live my life as I want now -

to jerks no longer bow.

I dealt with some to earn a dime,

but now it is my time.

Got aches and pains that come with age,

offset with lesser rage.

Not forced to do what I don’t want,

got long hair which I flaunt.

Write these rhymes because it’s fun,

complete them one by one.

Work because I’m in the mood,

but not to it am glued.

I am not rich but have enough,

to think my life not rough.

I worked hard to reach this spot,

and grateful what I got.

I would not trade this point in life,

past struggles or the strife.

I will enjoy my life no doubt,

’til something big gives out.

My Rose-Colored Glasses

My Rose-Colored Glasses -

some people might say,

Have blinded me some -

from the truths of today.

Are glasses half empty?

Or are they half full?

Have I covered my eyes -

with some self produced wool?

I do hear the words -

I do see the hate.

But what if I choose,

to not take the bait?

We live in a place -

where we can speak our mind.

‘Cause a great piece of paper,

our forefathers signed.

Nor the color of my glasses,

or the level of my glass,

That leads me to action -

or taking a pass.

I feel I am lucky -

but you make the call.

There are some in this world,

with no glasses at all.

Why America is Great

America is great -

to that there’s no doubt.

Yet you might not know,

what I’m talking about.

It’s not for the splendors,

though they are quite plenty.

It’s not for the riches,

though there are so many.

It’s not for the history,

we all hold so dear.

It’s not for the pretzels,

the bars and the beer.

It’s Freedom of Speech,

I’m thinking of now.

It’s things I’ve heard lately,

that make me say “Wow!”

There’s people like Rush,

and Bill and much more.

Who say outrageous things,

and aren’t shown the door.

Some call it slander,

some call it wit.

But here they can speak,

and not censored for it.

When to Leave and When to Stay

Wish I were a fly on the wall,

something said or heard by all.

To get the scoop right from the lips,

from those who know and give the tips.

Banker, lawyer, politician,

first to know from their admission.

Right or wrong or in between,

how to use what you’ve just seen?

When to leave and when to stay,

decision you must always weigh.

For what you know’s no good at all,

if you’re a splotch upon the wall.

Black, White, Pink, or Green

Conservative, Smervative – what’s all in a label?

Liberal, Smiberal – put it all on the table,

Black, White, Pink, or Green,

How do you look – which way do you lean?

Pigeonholed, Smigeonhold – we’re all in a slot.

Is that really the way – perhaps it is not?

We have our opinions, beliefs, and akin,

be open to others – a solace within.

Can’t hear while you speak – give others a break,

good listener are you and progress we’ll make.

For if some Space Creatures came to attack,

we’d all have to fight – have each others back.

Conservative’s, Smervative’s, Smiberal’s and more,

would all ban together to settle the score.
