Web and software developers keep making life a little bit easier one app at a time. Clean and efficient innovations in business technology replace outdated system and hardware. Emphasizing clean and intuitive user experiences, newly developed mobile apps improve your business functionality and productivity. From mobile payment systems to new takes on the old to-do list, these apps help business run smoothly.

Point of Sale Systems

Mobile Point of Sale Systems (POS) represent one of the biggest innovations for retail and customer service in the past five years. Compatible for use with your smartphone or tablet, mobile credit card readers provide businesses with an inexpensive way to process mobile payments or set-up a cashwrap that isn’t dominated by giant hardware. New mobile payment systems make shopping in a physical retail store as easy as spending money on the internet.

Square, a favorite of on-the-go businesses like food trucks, offers credit card readers and processing through its mobile app. Additionally, as of February of this year, Square began offering its “business in a box” offering all the hardware and software needed to utilize a Square register including card readers, iPad stand, and a cash drawer.

Likewise Intuit, Quickbook’s mobile POS, feeds sales data directly into Quickbooks allowing business owners to quickly analyze sales data, process payments, and oversee spending. PayPal also launched its own card reader, the PayPal Here integrates its functions with a business’s existing PayPal accounts.

ProfitStars offers financial software systems including things like iPay, which offers mobile payment as well as a fully integrated and customizable payment system for financial institutions.

Efficiency and Collaboration

Another huge breakthrough in technology, cloud computing has made it easier to share and synchronously work on documents. Though cloud computing still maintains an air of mystery. It is also becoming ubiquitous. Cloud computing renders carrying a thumb drive around unnecessary and make a the days of floppy discs seem a comical memory.

Google Drive allows user to share, edit, and chat about documents, spreadhseets, databases, and forms. Google Drive also allows seamless access through a mobile app, allowing colleagues to collaborate on work virtually anywhere.

Similarly, CloudOn allows you to use your mobile device to work on Microsoft Office files by streaming the programs directly from your business’s servers.

Task Managers

To-do lists have been around since before the invention of paper, however new task manager mobile apps distill the art of the to-do list down to a science. Gone are the days of errant post-it notes or complicated ledgers. Mobile apps offer the opportunity to swish, click, and remember all the things you need to accomplish.

Simple and elegant, task manager app Clear allows you to pull tasks from other apps like iCal and Facebook to create to do lists prioritized by color (red=get it done now to yellow=low priority). To finish or rearrange priority, simply pinch or click the easy user interface.

Android classic Astrid is now available for multiple mobile platforms including the iPhone. Astrid allows you to track daily tasks and share task lists with multiple users. Astrid also will send push notifications and e-mails about tasks left unfinished.

Toodledoo offers a meaty task manager that doubles as a project manager. Toodledoo prioritizes your to-dos and keeps tabs on how long projects take to complete so it may set realistic timeframes for completion in the future.

The brave new world of mobile devices helps businesses stay focused and on task. Mobile apps offer sleek and easy ways to track productivity, sales, and work efficiently on the road.

Startups have a lot on their paper plates–looking at office expenditures, making sure memos and directives get to the staff and internal processes go smooth. Luckily for startup business owners of today, there are smartphone apps that help to keep the business running on the go, allowing them to manage multiple tasks at the same time. Some apps would also help you to promote your startup.

If you’re a startup business owner looking for some useful apps, here’s a list to help you out:

1. CamCard

Startup business owners have to do a great deal of exchanging when it comes to business cards because they’ve just started out in the industry. CamCard works like idScan® OCR for driver license and other similar scanners, using the same kind of data extraction technology. It’s a business card reader which requires you to take a snap of any business card and it saves the contact information from the card to your contacts book. The app can detect information in 5 different languages including Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

All the information can be stored in the cloud to ensure ultimate safety, and you can even restore it when required. The app also provides options to create different categories as well as add information to an existing contact. The cards can be cropped and rotated and images can be enhanced automatically. The information can be shared through E-mail and SMS.

CamCard works with Android phones and iPhone.

2. 30/30

It’s important for you and your team to get tasks done on time if your startup company wants to make a mark in your industry within the first few months. 30/30 allows you to allot a time limit to different tasks. When the time limit for a particular task ends, the app sends an alert that it’s time to buckle up or move on to the next task.

30/30 ensures that you don’t get off the track and does the planning for you. The latest version brings an option to toggle off ‘shake to undo’, an option within the app that allows you to dismiss any action by shaking the device. The standout feature is that the task list is controlled through simple gestures. You can manage multiple lists and sync to iCloud as well.

30/30 works with iPhone.

3. HootSuite

HootSuite is the Super Man when it comes to social media marketing of your startup. It presents you with a dashboard from where you can schedule posts to different platforms such as Facebook and Twitter at any time of the day. You can also manage multiple accounts from the dashboard and the app also provides tools to market social media posts.

HootSuite comes with build-in analytics that allows you to see how your pages are doing in terms of engagement, traffic and conversions. You can also follow up on comments posted by customers and other people in your industry on your startup company profiles.

HootSuite is available for Android phones and iPhone.

4. Expensify

Tracking startup expenses is also important. There’s a high ratio of startups failing after 2 years of operation, and one of the main reasons for the downfall is expenses getting out of hand. You can use Expensify to keep an eye on expenses at all times.

You can use app to take images of expense receipts, create new expenses and even sync debit and credit cards. It creates a central management system, allowing you to track employee expenses. You can also assign categories and tags to expense reports to make sure you don’t lose your way through multiple expense tracking.

Expensify works on Android phones and iPhone.

Shared hosting is, by a long way, the most popular type of web hosting solution used today. A shared server is a cheap, practical option for bloggers, small business owners, people who are looking to practice their SEO skills, and many other groups.

The other options are all growing in popularity, however. What are they?

·Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting

·Dedicated hosting

·Cloud hosting

·Hybrid hosting

Everyone has a different set of objectives for their website, and so subsequently will need to use a different platform when it comes to hosting. Cutting through the clutter can discovering what each option is all about can be difficult, however, especially if you are something of an internet novice. One of the biggest issues is that many businesses only offer one type of hosting – usually shared – and so will preach and advertise that this is by far the best option.

Other businesses, such as Jaguar PC, will offer a wider variety of options as well as advice and guidance around whether they are the best choice for your needs.

Cloud hosting is still very much the ‘coming man’ of web hosting, while hybrid options will depend on the company offering them and how much you are able to customize your account plan to your specific requirements. The other three are very similar wherever you go, although there might still be pitfalls that you should be aware of. Do not worry; we will point these out as we go.

Whether you currently use a shared server and are considering making the move to VPS or dedicated hosting, or are just getting started with a website for the first time, use our web hosting by the numbers guide to help you get the best option for you.

Size Matters

Whatever option you have gone for, your site will end up on a server. The big difference between the three services we are looking at is in how much of the resources you get to use. How different would one server look, in terms of your available resources, depending on its type?

Shared Servers

Signing up for a shared sever option might seem like the best option – it certainly will be when it comes to financial considerations – but do you know what you are getting for your money? The number of websites featured on a shared server will typically range from anything from 250 up to 2000. Admittedly, you might get lucky and find a shared server provider who says you might be sharing with another 50 sites, but how are you going to know for sure?

The two charts below demonstrate the typical worst case and best-case scenario when it comes to web hosting. The first chart shows what 1/2000 of resources would look like, and the second shows 1/250.

As you can tell, while the difference in the number might look big, the reality is that you are still in relative poverty when it comes to the resources you enjoy from a shared server.

If you are using this option and it works for you, then that is great. If you are experiencing issues with anything to do with website speed, page loading, or user experience, then this could well be the reason why.

How would a VPS solution compare?

VPS Hosting

A VPS solution is similar to a shared server, in that your website shares space and resources with several other websites. However, a typical VPS solution will see less websites sharing the same space, and your resource allocation will look more like this.

We know what you are thinking; that still does not look like much server power. You are right, but this is where the ‘virtual private’ part of the deal comes in. That portion above will be your basic level of resources, and it might even reduce when you are experiencing low levels of traffic. However, when your website is busy, this will happen:

Immediately, that has made a major difference to the performance of your website. Obviously, VPS hosting is not an exact science, and if there are several websites in the same geographical location that are busy at the same time on a VPS then it might cause performance issues. In the main, however, this is the reason why VPS hosting is proving so popular.

A VPS solution can bring the benefits of a dedicated solution for the price of a shared one, while managed VPS hosting is often available, which is great for those looking for a more powerful server but with little technical knowledge or expertise when it comes to web management.

Dedicated Hosting

In terms of both resources and performance, dedicated hosting stands alone. This one does not require a huge amount of explanation. You are the only website on the server, and the chart speaks for itself.

Now you know that size matters; what are the other factors related to each type of web hosting that you should be aware of?

How They Operate

Not surprisingly, such a vast difference in resources reflects in how each server works, and links to what you can do with it.

In terms of the hardware, there is little difference between shared and VPS servers, aside from that they are set up and optimized for their specific purpose. Due to the number of users on these servers, there is rarely, if ever, the opportunity to customize specific options for yourself, although some hosting companies do offer to prioritize resources for your site in return for an additional fee. In contrast, a dedicated server will offer increased, often fully, customization options owing to its use exclusively by one site.

The operating systems employed are more flexible, although those on a shared server will find their hands tied once more. VPS users will have limited flexibility to control certain elements of their operating system, while again dedicated users get the full range of capability to customize theirs fully for their own needs.

How About IP?

This is where things can start to get a little thorny for those on a shared server. Due to the nature of your web hosting, a website on a shared server will have the same IP address as every other one does. Not a problem, you might think, and the reality is that it is not, until something goes wrong.

With shared hosting, you literally have no idea who or what the other websites on your communal space are. Again, not a problem, it is not any of your business.

When it Goes Pear-Shaped

It only takes one website on your shared server to have its IP address blacklisted by an ISP or a particular group, and that will have a direct impact on your own. Imagine that; you could have done a lot of great work on web design, produced some great content, and put yourself a smart SEO strategy together, but because someone on your server was a spammer, for example, it all unravels.

An increasing number of hosting companies offer to upgrade your shared server deal so you can remain on the server but with an individual IP address. However, given the additional cost you will incur, it might be wiser to upgrade to a full VPS option, where you get an individual IP address anyway.

Dedicated server accounts use multiple IP addresses.

Where You Fit In

We deliberately left this until the end to try to avoid you thinking that you have to fit one type of server option depending on the nature of what you do. Please remember that each option has clear negatives and positives, many of which we have outlined here. Consider cloud and hybrid options as an alternative if you do not feel shared, VPS, or dedicated hosting can satisfy your needs on any level.

These days, your credit score is more important than ever. As you know, without good credit, you may have a hard time purchasing a car, house or even reserving a hotel room or car! However, recent financial hard times have caused many consumers to fall into overwhelming amounts of credit card debt that have caused damage to their credit scores. The good news is, there are several people who are getting back on their feet and getting their debts paid off. Once they are paid off, it’s time to start working on credit scores. With that said, if you have not yet paid off your debts, I strongly suggest reading this article. However, if you have paid your debts off, here are the steps you should take to start regaining good credit…

Building Your Credit Score After Debt, Step By Step!

Step #1: Get A Secured Credit Card – Although there are several articles out there that tell you to build credit scores using utility bills, this is simply misinformation. The truth is, most utility companies don’t report to credit reporting agencies unless you miss a payment! The best way to show lenders that you are worthy of borrowing again is to start with a secured credit card. Therefore, your first step is to go get one.

Step #2: Make Your Security Deposit – Before you can start using your new secured credit card, you will need to make a security deposit. The security deposit is used to reduce the risk the lender takes when loaning money to people with poor credit scores. The good news is, your security deposit will most likely be refundable after you’ve used your card properly for at least 12 months.

Step #3: Use Your Secured Credit Card – The key here is showing the credit reporting agencies that you are able to maintain a revolving balance. However, if you don’t use your card, you won’t have a revolving balance. Also, it’s important to remember that you should keep your balance below 50% of your credit line. Going over that mark could cause slow times for the growth of your credit scores!

Step #4: Make Your Payments Early – It is a bad idea to get into the habit of making your credit card payments the day they are due. It’s always best to pay at least 2 weeks early. This way, if an emergency happens, you will be sure to have made your payment and will avoid any resulting late fees, interest rate hikes or dings to your credit score.

Step #5: Make More Than Minimum Payments – When you are in the process of building your credit score, it’s important to make more than minimum payments on your credit card on a consistent basis. I always suggest sending at least double your minimum payments to really get your credit score moving!

Step #6: Enjoy The Benefits Of Good Credit Scores – After following this process for 12 to 18 months, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of having Good credit scores again. Keep up the good work and you will soon have excellent credit!

Money Matters

A Mac is not the cheapest piece of hardware out there on the market. In fact, it could very well be one of the most expensive, but this should not be the main factor that influences your decision when you come to buying a new home computer.

For years I fought losing battles with an assortment of PCs that all came in well below the price of a Mac, but along with the cash saving I was forced to endure hours after hours of frustration and anger at my computer’s inability to do what I needed to do, and that was never anything too advanced.

It is this point that is perhaps the most pertinent, as a person who is not rolling in money or especially aware of all of the technical jargon that defines exactly what a computer can and cant’t do, will often lump for the cheapest option when it comes to buying a new machine. This is a big mistake that I took too long to learn, and here are just a few of the reasons why.

The Speed

When my patience finally snapped with my old PC, my morning routine would be: wake up, turn computer on, have a shower, make a coffee, continue to wait for PC to fully come to life. This is not an exaggeration. The difference I now have with my Mac is just absolutely incomparable. I hit a switch and it’s on. I power it down and it’s off. Everything moves like lightning. I want to open a new web page, it’s done. I want to switch between a document and an email, boom, i’m there. Everything on the Mac just makes my life that little bit easier. Or even if that is not true, then at least it certainly never makes it more difficult.

The Sound and Light

Not only does my MacBook Air shift like the wind, but it also allows me to watch all of my favourite TV programmes and movies with such a level of quality that I never wish I actually had a TV in my apartment. The software I use to watch these programmes, VLC Player, is fully compatible and sits waiting patiently in my dock, ready to be opened in the flash of an eye at one click. All of my photos were also easily transferable onto my Mac and the programmes that come along with even the most basic edition are more than enough to let me edit and store my literally thousands of snaps.

The Flexibility

Before investing in a Mac I was put off by the unusual mouse pad system which was unlike any I had ever used on a PC. I was convinced that I would never be able to master it and I even arrogantly thought that it was all just a useless gimmick designed for show offs rather than usability. I could not have been more wrong, and now I don’t know where I would be without the nifty little navigational pad. I jump in and out of screens with ease as though I really know what I am doing, but inside I know that I am still useless with these things and that the reality is that the design is just so good that even somebody like me can take advantage of it. The only problem is that I now sometimes feel guilty that I am not taking full advantage of the literally hundreds of things this machine can do that I know I will ever understand, but this is just my silly problem.

The Mac may have forced me to stretch a little further financially than I wanted to go, but everyday I am shown exactly what it was that I paid that little bit more for and I am thankful that I did.

Financial issues are often very much delicate a loyalty is a big factor of worrying almost all the time. Loyalty is any time a great virtue there is no dilemma but when it comes to fiscalmatters it time and again fails to pay.

Generally friends, family members, colleagues and dears people are seemed to be the most loyal people to us however when it is about companies the word does not mean alike. If we talk about the financial institutions and companies they generally take the benefits of regular patrons, out of date techniques and getting on and collegial transaction mostly in case of delicate finance.

There are a number of cases where loyalty does not pay. The most common and well known example is of insurance companies. They keep on increasing their premium invariably even if you are depositing it on time. In most cases the old customers of the insurance companies suffer the most. Basically they nurture very rigid idea that dealing with a company for a long time will automatically lead to a friendly relation with them and the company will serve them the best in times of need. But the reality is quite harsh and the truth is there are millions of excuses for violating loyalty. However they get their expectations fulfilled but then it costs too high. According to the companies these people are inactive customers of their company and so charging them high is nothing but their penalty for inconsistent behavior.

Credit card policy is another example where a huge violence of loyalty is a common scene. Often the institutions offering the credit card service takes the strategy of hiding information and deliver incomplete information to the customers. It is very challenging to come out from the trap of the credit card service. Other than these, aggressions of loyalty are found in case of loan as well. Whenever it is about loaning it is always better to have detailed information about all the terms and conditions of the banker. However the criteria shown in times of loaning are suitable to the borrower but in the duration of repayment several changes are found in their policy. Therefore, choosing the most reliable institution is a must to avoid any type of disloyalty.

All these are very frequent examples of where loyalty often fails to pay. But have we ever given it a thought why? Is the institution only responsible for the disloyalty? Don’t we have any fault? Definitely, we have. The biggest fault for which we suffer from such problem is blind trust. Most of the times we go through sources, do not go through the deals in details, do not question and if we are in big financial intricacy we take steps without thinking twice. This is why most of the cases loyalty does not pay.

Apart from the consumers’ side, the bankers and other companies also suffer the same problem. They often overlook documents or do not scrutinize in detail mostly if the customer is a regular and old one. There are lot more reasons for which loyalty does not pay and lot more way outs to come over those as well.

Loaning is one of the easiest ways of getting out of any financial difficulty or to fulfill any serious and expensive need. There are varieties of loans one can avail like home loan, car loan personal loan, education loan and much more. Although it is very helpful but loaning is a very tricky task indeed and one should use the loan amount sensibly to get maximum benefit out of it. Different loans have different criteria and time period to be repaid and the given time period is the instance when one should use it at best to experience maximum benefit.

In a very general case, it is seen that the amount borrowed often gets misused in cases where it is through credit card or payday loan etc. Let us have a look at how could we get the most out of different types of loans.

Payday loan: Payday loan is a very helpful form of loan, which is given to come over emergency purposes. This loan has some features that are quite different from the other forms of loans. Unlike home loan or car loan, payday loan does not require much time to get sanctioned. At the same time, the borrower’s credit history matters a lot in other forms of loans while in case of payday loan it hardly matters.

As already said the main intension behind offering payday loan is to fulfill emergency requirements. Therefore, one should make used of it sensibly like

Borrowing only the amount needed not any excess amount

Making it sure before borrowing that he is able to repay the money entirely the moment he gets his first payback.

Seeking for extension if there is any chance of failure in repaying.

Do not misuse the money and try to save if possible.2. Personal Loan: This type of loan is mainly acquired for personal issues, whichmay include medical issues, to recover credit history and all. Whenever thinking of acquiring a personal loan one must be aware of the fact that the interest rate it charges is higher than any other form of loan. Therefore, whenever choose to have personal loan.

Make sure that you are able to pay it back on time.

Try to borrow as less amount as possible.

Go through all the terms and conditions in details before borrowing.

Choose a lender who charges the minimum rate of interest.

Do not loan for reasons like gambling, stock market investment, travelling etc.3. Home Loan: Home loan is a very common form of loan that almost every person takes out at some point of time or other. This is a huge investment itself and there are loads of ways to come over this hurdle.

Keep paying EMI on time

Choose tenancy system if possible as it helps in recovering the EMI amount

Give several thoughts before signing any agreement.

There are lots more ways to get most out of loan. One should handle the entire procedure prudently to get the best possible outcome.

As a business manager or owner, recurring problems can suck away your precious time. If the issue keeps popping up, it might indicate an underlying problem with the way things are being done. Better to fix the problem at its root rather than having to constantly deal with it.

Your problem might be something small but if it keeps occurring then the amount of time you spend troubleshooting is going to add up. Read these seven tips to take action on problem areas in you business.

Make a problem logbook

You need to make a document or set up a folder where you log any issues as they arise. When did it happen? What was the nature of the problem? Logging issues as they pop up will make the problem a reality and something to be acted on rather than something that’s just happening in the background.

Make up a system for managing your log

The problem with having a log is it can often become a long list of problems that soon become overwhelming to deal with. Make rules for logging problems. Decide what kinds of problems can be logged, who can log them and make it accessible to the people who are responsible for the problem.

Take action

Logging the problem is the first step but after the issue has been identified you have to decide on a plan of action. What is the nature of the problem? Who is going to take action about it? How will they go about fixing the problem? Decide on a course of action to take so that somebody is taking charge of that issue.

Track progress

The problem that needs fixing may take some time so remember to check back regularly to see how the remedy is coming along. If you have a deadline for when you need the problem fixed, you need to make sure that things are progressing to reach that target.

Escalating the problem

If you’ve planned for a fix by a certain date or the issue seems to be dragging on and on. You will have to take action to escalate the problem. Now these problems need to be handled with care because if the problem is something minute, you don’t want to cause a huge scene about it. Access the impact of the problem on your business and escalate accordingly.

Evaluate the fix

Once a problem has been resolved, it’s a good idea to review the fix and see if it is actually working. Simply going through the motions and not actually getting results or providing a fix will have you doing this all over again down the track. It’s also important to take the problem off the logbook if it has been resolved.

Recurring issues in your business can cause some major headaches and disruptions. With these six tips, address your problems at their root cause and get back to running your business. ProjectManager.com has a huge online library of free resources you can use to find out more about fixing problems and managing risks.
