Alright, I've neglected the daily doodle for the past week. I've been busy designing the master religion, the master species and the master Web 2.0 app (and yes, it's taken me all week) But I haven't forgotten you... ;)

I've put some of the latest Daily Doodles up in the Sketchdump. Some of these are older images (otherwise known as classics) which were previously on the DailyDoodle before I made the DD all snazzy and Web2.0, so I've reuploaded them so you can see them in Hi-Res...

Incidentally, if you have anything you'd like me to draw for a DailyDoodle, drop us a comment on the DD page and i'll see what I can do!

Tear me to shreds!

Here's your big opportunity to tear me to shreds. I'm working on a new character illustration here - She's a cunning spy who's about to disrupt a political rally with some unexpected smoke and mirrors.

I'm hoping some of you can critique this piece before I ink it. I'm looking especially at my sister Seona!

Let me know what you think, and what I can improve.

Site Changes

I'll also hijack this post to outline a couple of changed I'm planning for the site. I'm looking to expand the sketchdump so there are separate pages for idle dumps and for completed works. I'm also thinking a forum wouldn't be such a bad idea - perhaps one where you can easily submit images you've found so that it's not only people drawing doing all the talking. What do you think?

It's the 6th of the 6th 2006... Oooh what an omen. Little more than twice a century do we get to cower in the face of the coming apocalypse.

I'd like to convince someone knowledgable to research the volume of water and biological matter occupied by the human population. I figure I'm occupying 60 litres of water or so at the moment as I sloosh around going about my daily business. Probably theres 10 times that amount sitting in circulation awaiting my use as I flush and wash and rinse cycle my way through life. I'm not trying to be a guilt monger... I'm not suggesting we shouldn't occupy water, I'm just curious about it is all. I read once something about the ecological footprint of humans. Where a single american can occupy up to 4 football fields, the poorest individuals occupy barely the footprint of an outhouse. I'd say theres a certain volume of organic or organic potential matter on the planet and I'd suggest that humans occupy a decent amount of this, while storing that which is unused it fairly boring and uncolourful bio holding cells such as wheat farms and pig pens, rather than the tried and tested rainforests and oceans. Don't look at me like that.. I'm not saying I have a solution... hell I don't even think of it that often, but I just think that if we began thinking of ourselves as "70 cubic tonnes" heavy rather than "70kg" heavy we'd all feel... fatter... damn I thought something profound was going to come out of that last sentence.

there was a time before RGH... a more innocent time, a time when the city of cairns was still my home, life was easy, and we all lived to get drunk.
back then, the forum you read today online was no more than paper and ink. it had no name but it was sacred.
mostly it was bad art because we were so drunk.
this is some of the best work taken from my old sketckbooks, featuring myself, bitcloud, reck and moogz.

jesus, what a weekend.
all weekend i spent watching this this computer load images, crash, run out of disc space, crash, freeze, crash & do anything in its power to kill me.
in a fit of stupidity i deleted some rather important files (like the driver for my scanner, i did this in the middle of a batch of scanning), i did no work on a piece that must be done in less than 24hours from now, my chair broke, my girlfriend lost her job, the iriver that i bought 4 DAYS AGO shit itself...
but! i finished my submission fo a5 magazine. and its good.
heres the colour original (it will be in black & white in the mag) of one of the pages i submitted.

also, bonus super old school drunken scetchpad bizniz coming soon to scetchdump from RGH, DSA & CPU members LOCO OCTO, BIT CLOUD, MOOGZ & RECK1... possibly others too (yay). real soon.. i promise.

i finally moved on to ink & nib this week... i cant belive i used pens for so long, i feel like an idiot. im using a hunt 102 nib, vicious indeed, push it the wrong way at all and it stabs the page, rips the page and covers the page in ink.
but the lines, oh those pretty lines... rasor thin to fat as fuck. im still getting the hang of it, but theres no going back.
i also got "heroes" by david bowie this week. its been a week for catching up on things i should have discovered years ago.
oh well, better late than never.. forwards, never backwards, upwards, never forwards, and twirling, allways twirling, into the future.
