Tesla S Live Demonstration Video

I was fortunate this past weekend to have the opportunity to visit the Tesla factory in Fremont, CA and photograph the new all electric Tesla S sedan up close during the car’s official reveal to the public.

I’ve included some video footage of the new Tesla S going through both a slalom course and heavy acceleration with passengers aboard. The last segment is taken from my own demo ride in the electric car. The only thing you hear is wind and road noise from the tires, otherwise it is completely silent.

Here are my still photographs of the Tesla S tour & demonstration.

Looking forward to eventually replacing my internal combustion engine with one that is completely electric. It seems the future is here.

Oben Tripod First Look

Today I received my new Oben 3510 5 section folding carbon fiber tripod from B&H. I was looking for a with-me-at-all-times tripod and it appears to fit the bill. The construction seems solid, with a nice fit & finish. It folds remarkably small, hence the photo next to the two liter soda bottle. I’ll be using it in the next few weeks and will return with a more thorough write-up.

Below are a few photos using my Canon 1D IV and Fuji X100 for perspective.

How to Receive a Google+ Invitation Immediately

Today Google launched a new G+ invitation process that no longer requires an e-mail.

Make is snappy though, there is a fixed number of people who can use the link to acquire an invite daily. So far I’ve been really enjoying Google+ and it has developed an amazing community of photographers drawn by the photo-friendly nature of the platform.

Lake Almanor Wipeout!

This unfortunate soul is a friend of mine tossed from one of those disks you tow behind a water ski boat.

I was at the rear of the boat on Lake Almanor capturing the action right up to when the driver cracked the whip and sent him flying.
10 frames per second is sure handy in these situations.
