The car in question has been modified to produce a top notch performance car, but at the same has managed to keep the style and design of the original car from the outside. While there are some slight additions to the bodywork such as the side skirt, this blends in nicely and is not over the top or bulky, as some cars seem to be.

It is performance that the RX 8 delivers and even before the modification, this was a car that for its size offered performance well over what would be expected from a car sporting a 1.3 litre engine. However, this is Wankel technology and so in its basic configuration the RX 8 would be delivering around 210 HP and that is before any modifications had taken place.

With that sort of performance, there is little that can or should be done under the hood, although it is not unknown for an RX 8 to be modified to deliver in excess of 250 HP with only some minor adjustments to the set up. This all rounder has performance and looks going for it, these are two main features for an import builder to go for; it works very well in this case.

Bodily there are little clues that someone has been carefully making this car better than brand new, but these subtle changes such as the front bumper, tail lights, turn signals and side markers come from later models, but only a complete Supra expert would know about that.

The worrying thing about this car is that there are plans to improve this almost perfect design, the owner intends to change the hood to a more meaty looking vented version, upgrade the drive shaft, add a Tein Flex coilover and Virtual intake manifold, with this final touch being some nice Recarro seats.

It has to be said, that once these final touches have been completed, it would seem that this Toyota Supra could be one of the best cars of its kind around at the moment. Of course, there may be another project on the horizon, but this one has the edge being almost completed and ready to hit the show circuit or maybe it will just end up being a road car, it would look nice in the supermarket car park!

But now this drop head sports car is being taken on by the import builders, not that there is much to do with the exterior of this car; it is still becoming a builders dream machine. This one is owned and built by Peter Li; it is the 1992 model, although by the look of it that would be hard to tell for someone with no experience of these cars.

Finished in bright red, there is a feel for speed look to this car, sitting just a few inches off the ground the Miata has a menacing look to it and would impress any sports car owner with its grace and style. When this car was first taken on by Peter is was in immaculate condition from top to bottom and yet in true builder’s style the car has to gutted and rebuilt to its new standard.

When new, this would have come with either the 1.6 litre or 1.8 litre engine and a choice of either a four speed auto or five speed manual gearbox. It would have been producing around 120 HP, which is good enough for a car that is so light, but following the modifications under the hood the power must have been increased, although there are no figures to back this up.

This model belongs to Chris Wanstrath and this is a true representation of how an import builder would approach a project such as this one, clearly this is not going to be an high performance racing machine, but what it can be is a serious looking example of how design and hard work can produce a work of art.

The Scion is a great example of a blank canvas, the modifications are limited to the imagination of the builder and in this case, it is clear that the music plays a large part in the life of the owner. It is the work of Kathryn Tanaka and it has to be said that with this third build she has really come up with a winner. This is a drifting car and as result of some intense driving the car apparently needed some touch ups here and there, so why not go all the way and create a new car instead, that is what has been done here for third time.

However, it has not been all cosmetic, for a modification means, just that and some serious changes have taken place under the hood. For instance, the S13 SR20DET Red Top has been upgraded with a Megan Racing stainless steel exhaust and a GReddy M spec front mounted intercooler has been fitted behind the impressive type X front bumper.

Never the less it is still hard to believe that this is a car that is twenty years old, one of the original series one S13’s sporting the 2.4 litre engine offering around 140 HP with a choice of a four speed auto or a five speed manual gearbox. we can only guess at what this car is producing in the power department, but we can be sure that it is a lot more than the standard road model!

So that is what has happened here, this is your average Honda Civic from 1993, it is the four door family style version, which has been driven by all sorts if careful drivers around the world. However, this particular model happens to be different, it is owned by Ahmed Yousry and he has completely changed the way that this car should be seen as.

No longer is the basic Honda Civic a family run around, this is a car that can be bought fairly cheaply and with some serious time and cash investment, a car such as this can be produced. We have no actual figures as to how this car performs, but we have to assume that with the power available to the driver it is not going to have any problems getting away from the lights.

Of course, this Gallant was no under powered machine to start off with, as it already had a decent 3.0 litre engine under the hood, which would have been good for 156 HP. but for new owner Broderick Jones 200 HP would be the minimum accepted, in fact after changing to engine to a 3.5 litre version the power would be touching 225 HP, which is clearly better.

However, with that power, the car must be modified to cope and that is where the real work comes in, it is all right switching the engine, but the running gear, brakes and just about every other moving part on the car would need to be upgraded in order to cope with the increase power demands. When the car was designed its target was to match the performance of the Ferrari 328, but delays in production meant the target was changed to meet the specs of the Ferrari 348, in order to do this the production was stopped and new 3.0 litre V6 VTEC engine replaced the 2.0 litre V6 engine. By producing, the car in aluminium reduced the weight by 20 Kg’s and therefore increased performance.

The main focus of this build has been on the bodywork, the sharper more visible edges have been rounded off and smoothed out to produce a more aerodynamic shape, in fact the shape of this car is more to do with looks than aerodynamics. Although both features are smooth on the eye, which is one of the points of building in the first place.

One thing that this build shows is the how simple design works as opposed to the designs that go over the top with features that have no mechanical functions but instead have been included because they have the effect of looking good on a car.

Considering this car had a wrecked engine, burnt out wiring, body damage and did not even have a keyhole for the ignition, the tables have turned and now this car is better now than it was when rolled off production line in Hiroshima, Japan and that is what import building is all about.

Acquired in 2006, this Mazda has been totally transformed into one of the most desirable RX 7’s around, but it did not happen over night and certainly didn’t come cheap, the estimated cost is around $30,000 so far.

The same could said for this brilliant looking Toyota MR2, initially when Ian Shoel first attempt at modifying meant that the car would have S15 headlights, airbrushed flames on top of a candy paint job. It would have been nothing unusual to see lights and other parts turning up on different models, but that trend is giving way to more standardised modifications.

Now this MR2 has become a state of art machine with all the features that you would expect to find and some serious work on the engine and the rest of the mechanics to enable this machine to deliver in excess of 400 HP, speed and good looks goes down well here!

This is a second generation MR2 and to many people this is best version, coming with a choice of either a 2.0 litre or the 2.2 litre engine with a four speed auto or five speed manual gear box. The model is owned and built by Damien Cahill of Columbia, MD; the Lancer is from 2003 and comes under the Evo 8 range. The beauty of these cars is that the owner can take parts from other models either earlier or later versions. This is what Damien Cahill has done very well, with parts from the Lancer Evo 9 such as the transmission and seats.

This is a nice looking car with a beautiful looking green chameleon paint job; the finish actually appears to be a two tone effect between blue and green depending on the light and the position on the car. This colouring appears to follow through the rest of the car including inside the engine bay.

The Lancer Evo 8 uses the CT9V variation of the 2.0 litre engine, with a choice of a five speed or six speed manual gearbox the post production car would have been well capable of achieving up to 271 HP, but this build can boast to delivering and massive 950 HP at the rear axles.

As with all import builder jobs, this one has been completed to the demands of the owner and in this case the focus has been placed onto the body rather than the interior, which remains more or less as it was and even the mechanics of the car are almost untouched.

The work that has gone into this design is extraordinary, it could even be classed as a work of art, and after all, like a masterpiece it is clear what the car is. Yet this is a vision of what the builder thinks a Honda Civic should look like if it were left down to the designers and not the bean counting accountants.

Performance wise this car is unlikely to win any prizes, but as a stand alone project to produce one of the Honda Civics around at the current time, this one has to be in with a great chance of being up there at the top, unless there are any better looking Honda Civics around at the moment, any ideas?

The Tibron has been thoughtfully modified to a high standard with a lot of work done under the hood, but at the same time, there are some interesting body features in there too. However, unlike some body kits and mouldings the exterior of this Tibron has been completed with care even down to the red LED’s underneath the car and is actually an asset to the car.

The bright red finish has been taken inside too, with the exterior colour blending into the panels inside the car, which normally may be considered as being a bit tacky, but it actually suits this car. It is probably because red is the key colour and is used throughout instead of there being a mix of colours or shades.

Naturally this is not going to be to everyone’s taste, but that is what import building is all about, pushing the boundaries as far as the builder is able to go, but without going too far and making a mess of the whole thing. This car is just right with the right balance of features and styling to show that is still a Hyundai Tibron, just very special!

This is a car that over a long period of time has gradually been built up and not is at a standard that can only be described as pristine. The car has around 88,000 mile on the clock, so it has not just been sitting on the drive or in the garage looking good, this is a car that has been used for the day to day business of getting on with things.

Naturally there has been a lot of work of the car, with many or the parts including the engine being replaced, it now runs a 1999 1.8 litre engine, but even this has been worked to a high standard and in fact has been polished up too, check out this image below for the that.

This Mazda6 lives in New York and so it looks like a regular Mazda6 as would have come off the production line, but looks can be deceiving and when you live in a big city it is not always a great idea to show off everything that you have. This car does that well behind the body of a family sedan is the heart and brain of a thoroughbred racing machine.

As you can see from the specifications below, very little work has been done on the exterior, but on contrast to that, the engine and transmission modifications have seen extensive work on them. In fact, the exterior has subtle changes and beautiful coat of paint, so it has not been left out of the build at all.

This is a car that has been stripped back and rebuilt to highest specifications, with money no object we would have expected anything else. AUS Injection MP10392 Remanufactured Fuel Injector – 1989 Toyota Corolla With 1.6L Engine

Product Description

Quality remanufactured fuel injectors that are electronically tested for correct electrical resistance and for coil weakness. Good units are then disassembled (micro filter, seals, pintle caps and plastic spacer are removed.) Injectors are simultaneously cleaned in ultrasonic tanks specially designed to clean fuel injectors. All units are individually back flushed to remove the broken dirt particles, these particles cannot be removed thru the injection orifices therefore are driven out thru the inlet of the injector. All injectors are then mounted on the flow bench in an inverted position to allow them to reverse flow at a considerable pressure. We run a high performance injector cleaning solvent thru the injectors for 30 minutes, completing the cleaning process. This process assures all dirt particles are completely removed from the injector. Injectors are now mounted on the flow bench in the correct position to begin the testing procedures. We apply 60 PIS of pressure (more than a regular multi-port fuel injection system) and maintain the injectors with no signal to them for 30 seconds to make sure there are no leaks. Depending on the original manufacturer presentation, the injectors are either painted or polished to give the best cosmetic appearance possible. Injectors are then assembled with new replaceable components (filter baskets, pintle caps, O-rings and seals) and a final test is performed with all new components on injectors. The purpose of this test is to make sure the filter basket; o-rings, seals and pintle caps are positioned correctly and are not disturbing the flow or the spray pattern of the injector. Injectors are lubricated with special oil and protective caps are placed on both ends to extend the shelf life and assure that when they are installed in the vehicle they will be in optimum operating condition. It is the handy work of Cynce Tester, who bought this car new and with the help of the team at Teske Design produced what has to be considered as being one of the best models around. That may be debatable but check the car out for yourself, this is one of the great import builds and makes the Scion look supreme.

This particular model is the handy work of Alex Dunn, this a car that has been modified with a certain amount a care and consideration to the design of the actual car, meaning that from the normal person in street point of view it is possible to see what the car is without being told.

This is a car that is owned by our friends over at tunerzine.com and very jealous we are too! Naturally this car has been used to promote their business and why not, but the car is still the star here. It has been worked with pride and although under the hood and inside the car there have been some serious changes, while from the outside you can still tell what the car is.

This is third generation version of the Integra; it came with the choice of a 1.6 litre or 1.8 litre engine and the standard five speed gearbox or the four speed auto gearbox. Yet with the power ranging from 142 HP to 170 HP, this car was no slow coach.

However, in all seriousness the car is an interesting example of the 2009 model, the trouble with new cars is that there is very little to be done, but in order to modify a car the builder has to get in there and do something that makes their car stand out from the rest. That is something that has been achieved here and done well too.

This car is the evo ten or the tenth generation of the model and not just because it is the latest version, this model is considered to be the best of all Lancer Evo’s, which is saying something! This is a modified car, but not in the sense that there are extreme changes to the exterior, everything that has been done is in good taste, the finish of pure white just adds to the image of this particular model and those TR Motorsport 17 inch Typhoon wheels are the finishing touch.

Most of the work has been done under the hood, with many of the original features being replaced by new and improved versions, this just makes the car very desirable as the there is nothing like a car that drives like new and yet this one is from 1998!

You look at this is image and see the car that was made famous in the Nicolas Cage movie, Gone In Sixty Seconds, yet it if you at it very closely and of course know what you are looking for then you will notice there are some slight issues with the car.

So what is it, in fact this is the ultimate import build, it is a Toyota Supra from around 1998, but it has been modified to such an extent that the car has taken on the appearance of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor dating from 1967!

You can still see the Supras curves within the design, but this is a good exercise in how far a build can go, this is the work of a group of students from Saitama University, who are naturally studying on the college’s automotive course and of course have developed something very special.

The donor car for this transformation is the fourth generation version of the Supra; this would have had the standard 3.0 litre engine with a choice of five or six speed manual and a smooth four speed auto gearbox. The car would have been delivering around 300 HP, but with all of those panels on board it is hardly going to matter!
