All Evos use the same 2.0 litre engine with a choice of either s five or six speed manual gearbox, but it is what can be done with the engine that is so impressive. Therefore, as the car pulls out of the factory you can expect to be receiving around 200 HP, but with some fine tuning this can easily be increased to over 400 HP and that is seriously impressive by any accounts.

Under the hood of this modified car there are plenty of branded parts, you can see Greddy, AMS and NX straight away and this stuff apart from being costly means business. This is not tinkering by anyone’s standards, this is building the car from factory specs to import builder perfection, which is the aim of the project, to build the best car around and this Evo 8 is easily there.

This car may be finished in black on yellow, but you should not hold that against it, colours are subjective to say the least and mean nothing. Performance is key here and despite the fact that there are no figure for the car, you can make a guess that they are not getting 200 HP out of this baby. If we had to guess this is getting closer to the perfect 400 HP and why not, it has the look and therefore should have what it takes too!

But the Civic is nothing but versatile and because of this it should be a dream car for import builders as they need cars with plenty of spares available and they also have to be something different too, which the Civic is. So take this unassuming looking car and start to pull it apart and you are left with a good base for a great build.

The first thing that stands out with this car is the colouring, this bright yellow and blue design is the colouring of builder racing team, Spoon Sports, this team is well known in Japan not just as a racers. Nevertheless, as testers for Honda too, this car from 1985 is significant because this is when the company was formed, this is where Spoon started and now Tatsuru Ichishima the president of Spoon is a national hero and racing icon.

This Mazda6 first hit the roads in the US during 2003, but the power would have only been around 136 HP to a sporty 146 HP. But that is nothing to get too excited about and soon with some clever tricks of the trade, import builders would be able to knock out up to 300 HP with just a few fine tweaks here and there, this is what modifying cars is all about.

This particular version of the Mazda6 is the 2006 model it has the look and styling but at the same time there are subtle changes that have been designed to produce better performance but look out of place when compared to the standard road going car. A good example of this is the front end, the carbon fibre grill replaces the standard fitting, but it gives the car and entirely different look from the front.

The Mazda 6 replaced the equally successful Mazda 626, which in its day was equally as exciting, but the Mazda 6 has something that other cars do not and that is the wide choice of options. For the buyer it is like having a car personally built for them and with a choice of power from around 136 HP up to around 280 HP the possibilities are almost endless, limited by the owners imagination and wallet!

The Nissan 350Z, naturally comes with a 3.5 litre V6 engine, the production would have been producing around 287 HP and there would have been a choice of a five speed auto or six speed manual gearbox. In short, this car has been designed to tap into the sports car market, with a car that is stylish and has the Nissan culture of quality and reliability that consumers demand.

This particular model, has been carefully thought out, it takes the best of everything available on the market and combined with some hard work and plenty of time, this has produced one of the best looking cars on the scene. We are looking at the first generation model here; it came with a choice of either a 1.6 litre, 1.8 litre or the 2.0 litre power unit and a choice of either the four speed auto or the five speed manual gearbox. The car has a curvy look with a flowing line from to back to help with aerodynamics and to give that sporty feel, which is all important when buying a sports coupe.

Nevertheless, cars such as this can easily be modified, it takes a bit of time and money, yet the finished item is well worth the effort in the end. Performance wise the basic road going car would have between 114 HP and 140 HP, although with a few tweak here and there it is possible to add a further 50+ HP should that be desired, in this case it would seem that the look is more important than performance.

While a few changes have been made under the hood, the main effort has been put into creating an exciting exterior and equally interesting interior. But this is modifying and in many cases this means customising to the desires of the driver and this often produces a wonderfully unique car, which this is, you only have to look at the images to see just how individual this car is, compared to the standard model.

This car has the 2.0 litre power unit with a lovely six speed manual gearbox, it easily produces around 200 HP and for a car of this size, that is some serious power output. The Civic has always had that sporty edge to it and the third generation Type R does not disappoint in any way, even though it comes in a choice of the three door hatchback or the popular four door sedan body styling.

Modifying a car such as this, take vision and flair to take a fairly new car and make it better, it takes guts to rip a car such that to pieces and then rebuild it in order to make the car better than it is was when it rolled off the production line. But this is more than a car that has been polished and stickered up, this is a car with a racing edge on it, it make look like a Type R, but it is much more than that.

The first thing that stands out is the power, due to some clever engineering this car now produces around 237 HP, which may not seem like a serious increase, but it is when you consider the size and weight of this car. The evolution III brought in that classic two door coupe body shape that we still see in the fifth generation car, it would have been powered by the straight six 2.6 litre engine and came with a standard five speed manual gearbox. Customer options were clearly not top of the manufacturers wish list with this car, but 313 HP soon made up for any short fall on the optional upgrade menu to start with!

So this is a 1990 model, that makes it one of the early versions and yet this car looks just good now as it did when it pulled of the showroom, in fact it is probably better in many ways as this is a modified car. Unlike some import builder cars, this one has been worked on in all areas, from the hi gloss black paintwork to the serious modifications that have taken place under hood, there are no figures available but we can assume that there is more power under foot too!
