Don’t you just like Nokia phone accessories? The introduction of Nokia Lumia 920 has greatly improved the telecommunication sector. Its predecessor, Lumia 800 was lucrative and hit the market. Due to its excellent features, Nokia Lumia has become irresistible to many shoppers. In fact, many online retail stores including local shopping malls are crowded by buyers who want to purchase this smart-phone. Many people are lusting to have this high tech accessory to ‘taste’ of its outstanding features.

Nokia Lumia 920 Special Features

Nokia Lumia has dominated the market undoubtedly. Its HD approximately 1,280 X 768 is far much better than most of the phone accessories available. It has 4.5-inch IPS display as well as built-in wireless charging kit. Nokia Lumia 920 is of high quality and strong. In addition, there is exclusive software that has been included. Of late, the Nokia is adding various hardware specifications in its phone accessories and so does the Nokia Lumia 920. The common question most people keep asking is that; will the phone beat other smart-phones in the market? At this moment, we can only guess.

Other Attractive Features

Frankly speaking, Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the best substantial Smart-phones available. The phone weighs about 6.5 ounces. Unlike other latest mobile phones, Lumia 920 is weightier. It has a huge display screen (4.5-inch). There are several styles and colors that are eye-catching. Other models available generate a shine-free look. The phone is beautifully crafted; it features loudspeakers, micro-drilled holes that are usually located at the base-this makes it attractive even if it is weighty.

It is very easy to grip the phone. This is because of the slightly curved back as well as rounded sides. It is for this reason why Nokia Lumia 920 is better as compared to its predecessors. Lately, there is Lumia 920 that comes with physical buttons including rear camera that has a darker finish. The buttons are made of ceramic materials that cannot easily be scratched. The phone has a micro-SIM slot that a user an insert a memory card. There are also a number of small perforations that you can connect to headphone socket or mic. It has two loudspeakers and a micro-USB port. It has a front-facing camera of 1.2-megapixel and a wireless charging kit. Nokia Lumia 920 also comes with 1 GB of RAM, apps and a storage capacity of 32 GB. Its graphics, display and cameras are clear. Battery is long lasting and therefore need not to be recharged constantly.

Deciding whether your child is old enough to have a cell phone or not is a difficult decision as it is, but in today’s smartphone era, parents also face the decision of whether or not they should use GPS tracking to monitor where there kids are. Like most child rearing questions, there is no one answer that suits every family. If you are considering using cell phone GPS tracking to monitor your child’s location, you should consider some of the pros and cons.

Safety

As much as many parents would like to, you can’t always be with your child all the time. If your child has a GPS-enabled cell phone, then you can at least feel comfortable knowing that he or she is where they are supposed to be. Additionally, you can also make sure that your child isn’t where he or she shouldn’t be and help keep them out of danger. Being able to track your child’s location does provide peace of mind, especially for working parents who may have to leave their children home alone after school until they get off work.

Discipline Problems

There is a possibility that your son or daughter will not react well to you tracking their location via GPS. Children, especially teenagers, feel the need for a certain amount of privacy and may feel that you don’t trust them or that you are “spying” on them. To further complicate things, some young adults may even react negatively and deliberately disobey you and go where they shouldn’t just to spite what they say as your attempt to “control” them. You can attempt to explain to your child that you are only watching out for his or her safety, but depending your child’s temperament and disposition, that may or may not work.

Not Always Accurate

GPS tracking is not always a perfect science. There are a number of different things that can affect the accuracy of your results such as if the phone is powered off, the battery dies, the phone is out of the network’s coverage area or in an area with poor signal strength. As a result, even with GPS tracking you may have a difficult time locating your child or you may get an inaccurate location.

Just like you have to individualize the decision whether or not to allow your child to have a cell phone, you have to also decide whether or not to use GPS tracking to monitor your child’s location on a case-by-case basis. What works well for one family doesn’t always work well in another family. As parent you have to make the decision you feel is best, but it is not a bad idea to discuss it with your child first if you are considering tracking him or her via GPS.

About the Author: Tammera Schoppert made sure that her teens each had a cell phone before they were allowed to start going out on their own and she has used it to track them when they’re late coming home. She is a marketer familiar with SMS blast technology and advertising, but she’s more focused on the functionality of the phones and how she can use them to keep her family safe.

How to Compare Prepaid Cell Phone Plans

If you are looking for effective ways of cutting your monthly cell phone bill, then the simplest way to make the most drastic difference possible is to switch to prepaid mobile. When many people hear the words “prepaid cell phone,” they conjure up a mental image of dated flip phones and poor service. However, that is just not the reality of today. It is possible to save a lot of money via a prepaid phone plan without foregoing style and call quality. If you’re in the market for some big-time savings, then check out these guidelines for how to compare prepaid cell phone plans:

Talk, Text, and Data

What will you be using your cell phones for, and how often? This information will help you choose the best plan and save the most money. For example, you may need a lot of talk minutes, while your teenage daughter may use her phone solely for social media (data); choosing your plans accordingly can save you big bucks in the long run. However, if it’s something of everything you need, then you’ll be happy to know that most every prepaid service provider offers “unlimited everything” plans for unbelievably low costs as compared to contract providers.

Shrinking Bills

If you plan on keeping your cell phone service for the long haul, then you should consider a shrinking bill plan. What’s a shrinking bill? Basically, it is exactly what it sounds like. Your bill shrinks by a certain amount after a period of timely payments, as specified by the provider. For example, Boost Mobile will shrink your monthly bill by $5 every time you make six timely payments in a row, for a total of up to $15 in shrinkage!

Single Line Versus Family Plan

If you have more than one cell phone user in your family, then you may be able to save some money by going with a prepaid family plan. While family plans may be the cheapest option for some providers, other providers may offer such low single line rates that they don’t offer a family plan option. Therefore, when you shop plans, be sure to also include a family/single-line plan comparison.

If you want all of the convenient features of a top-rate cell phone and service plan, but without the extra expense and binding contract, then you really can’t go wrong with a prepaid cell phone plan. Just keep in mind that there are many plans and providers to choose from, so finding the best fit for you will take some time and research. These guidelines should help.

About the Author: Sadye Hillesheim spent a long time comparing prepaid cell phone plans for her family. She finally settled on one that would allow her to utilize text, data, and call forwarding features for work while using apps to monitor her teen’s usage.

Have you ever heard the stories from your grandma about how back in the day, people were considered lucky to have a telephone in their house? Maybe she had one, but her family had to share the line with someone else. Well, it’s pretty common to have a phone in your home now and it’s even more common for people to have cell phones. Maybe you remember back in the 90’s when the first cell phones were available for purchase. They were huge and clunky and not very attractive at all. Today, however, there are small and stylish cell phones on the market and everyone seems like they have one. Cell phones truly have come a long way in the past twenty or so years. If you do not know much about phones, or you are just in the market for a new one, here is the inside scoop.

How Cell Phones Have Changed

When cell phones first became available for purchase, they were absolutely huge. They had ridiculous antennas that made them look like they were from Mars. These cell phones were pretty expensive and you were privileged if you had one. As time went on, we saw the very first modern cell phones come out. Nokia was a popular brand and they had basic cell phones. At first, these phones did not have color screens, but eventually did come with color screens. The resolution on these phones was fairly low and pretty pixelated. You could call and text on them, but you couldn’t shoot pictures or videos like you can on modern models of cell phones. LG was another brand with similar phones. A few years down the line, and you have a flip phone. The flip phone came with a camera many times and did all of the same things. Today, we’ve evolved past all of that and we have Droids and iPhones. Phones back then did not have the capability to download apps and some you couldn’t even download your own ringtones on.

Phones Today

Flip phones are long gone. They’re a thing of the past now. Today, we have iPhones with GPS, cameras, video cameras, app stores and internet service on them. We can do so much more than just calling and texting. Our phones are like our personal assistants. They’re still expensive, but they’re a lot less clunky and they don’t have huge antennas.

Technology has changed a lot of things for the American people. Back in the day, our grandparents were lucky to even have a phone in their house. Today, we take having a house phone for granted and we even have the luxury of having cell phones. Cell phones have really evolved in the last twenty or so years. They were once basic phones used for making emergency phone calls. Today, they’re like our sidekicks, allowing us to check our email and even social networking accounts. Even though we may not see it, technology is in everything we use and it is everchanging.

Latest Smartphones

Trying to compare smartphones is getting harder and harder as more companies not only are offering products in 2012, but the products are getting better and better. A lot of this stems from Android and the Ice Cream Sandwich becoming available to developers and manufacturers, as an OS it is beginning to level the playing field and allow makers to focus on features and functionality. Here are the top popular smartphones of 2012 to buy, they represent the best in smartphones but are by no means all that is to come this year.

The Samsung Galaxy S3

One of the best smartphones of 2012 according to every reviewer and tester that gets their hands on it is the Samsung Galaxy S3. It runs on Ice Cream Sandwich, has kept a strong focus on practical use incorporating such features as the “Smart Stay” which uses the front 720p camera to detect if you are reading the screen and prevents the screen from powering down.

It has an extended battery life manager that will impress everyone but heavy users and its design is sleek, slim and modern. Samsung did a lot of work on the practical elements of the phone in increasing its RAM size and switching to a processor that can truly handle 4G. Because it runs on Android, there are hundreds of apps available for use. This is only slight downfall of the S3; the core navigation tries to imitate an app and can get confusing at times.

The AT&T Nokia Lumia 900

One of the other top smartphones of 2012 is the Nokia Lumia 900. This is not a favorite of most reviewers who are blinded by Android and iOS, but this is definitely the best of the windows smartphones. It has two cameras, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1 megapixel front facing one.

This is really one of the best business smartphones because uses can access all the standard mobile Windows apps that as yet are still awkward to convert from under the Android architecture. The 900 uses a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack display, runs on a 1.4 GHz processor and once the Windows 7.8 Phone update is released will become the favorite smartphone of many more.

Apple iPhone 4S

It seems strange to say that the 4S is now in the realm of one of the cheap smartphones that are a good place for a newbie to start, but it is. You cannot get a more solid smartphone then the Apple iPhone 4S. Its reliability and stableness of the iOS architecture, standard features and Apple intuitiveness make it one of the best smartphones of 2012 even though there are newer and flashier Android and Windows phones out there. Those who are “all about Apple” are going to love the 4S because of the coming iOS 6 release. With iOS 6 they will be able to fully plug into their Apple ecosystem and then take it with them on the 4S.

Today I was in Kmart here in NSW Australia looking for a phone for my fiancee to take back for her in Asia when I go back in a few weeks. The phones there where she lives are more expensive than what I can get here so I thought I would take a look at Kmart today. They didn’t have a printed phone catalogue so I asked if I could take phones and the salesman said that was fine. So these are what they had that interested me:

Review of Using the Nokia N8 with Yongnuo YN-560 Speedlite

Using the Smartphone Nokia N8 with Yongnuo YN-560 Speedlites was something I look forward to doing soon once my phone arrives. As soon as it arrives I will be running it with the YN-560 Speedlites and will be updating this article, see you then….

Verdict of Using the Nokia N8 with Yongnuo YN-560 Speedlite

Update. I can say it was very straight forward. I just turned my phone camera on with the flash. I then switched my Yongnuo YN-560 Speedlite on and it was just to set to use slave as I would a camera. The rest was just taking the photo and adjusting the settings as needed.

You can use the Nokia N8 with Yongnuo YN-560 Speedlite in the same was as you would a normal DSLR camera. I experimented with brolly’s and stands. You can use the same accessories and props or backdrops and backgrounds. I would use a white sheet to keep my background simple.

The Nokia N8 has been my cell phone lately because of it’s camera features including 12 mp camera with a good lens and features. The Yongnuo YN-560 Speedlite is a great simple but powerful speedlite that works and is reliable.

There is a good review on Amazon of the Yongnuo-YN-560-Speedlight here.

The Nokia N8 is now replaced new newer Nokia phones like the 920 Lumina or the 880 which features a very powerful 40+ mp.

I just returned back to Australia after 6 months abroad and unfortunately my old HTC TyTn II was stolen while I travelled so I was waiting to I came back here to buy a new phone. Lucky for me I found out that my phone provider 3 would offer me a free phone on no contract for being a loyal customer over the years by accumulating credits towards a new phone upgrade.

I really had little time to research but the Xperia was a familiar name and it looked to have great features, especially the 8.1 mega pixel camera with LED flash. It also felt and looked sleek while the large 4 inch touch screen would be a nice thing. It had a good sound system being a Sony and I had heard of Android but really to be honest had no idea what it was all about, only that it was some new phone platform that offered open development. Of course I was also attracted by the GPS features that looked advanced from the brochure and the 16 gig memory card access.

Unfortunately my network would not offer great broadband access out of Sydney so that caused a few problems considering this device really relies on the Internet even to use a diary in the calender. I found out though that have Google Maps on your Smartphone is a nice feature with real time GPS tracking.

It was a very nice bonus to find out it had video recording, actually it is of quite a high quality and I have already uploaded several clips to YouTube. It’s also exciting to hear that the next Android upgrade will include HD video recording features at 1280 x 720 pixels and the screen will now have 16 millions colors. More on this upcoming firmware upgrade can be found here.

Using the camera is all good but I really have not got used to the shutter button, it just seems too flat although my plastic phone cover is probably not helping. I also purchased some screen covers which is something I would recommend to do right away. You will find that you can buy them for half price for what you would normally pay at Paddy’s Market in Sydney if you live there.

The camera does have a led light which is great but it’s a little tricky to have to go to Advanced settings each time to turn it on/off. The image stabilization feature is good to have as is the quick settings to choose the image type, i.e Landscape, Portrait, Night Portrait and even Document. All in all the camera feature means I now won’t have to buy a point + shoot camera or carry my DSLR out each time I want to take some basic photos.

I have found the security drawing features on this device to be quite confusing. First, there is the default requirement of you needing to slide your finger from one side to the other. This can be annoying as it will activate while I’m using the phone and have not done anything for a short time. The other one is where I activated the “Finger Pattern” recently but now I don’t want to use it I can’t seem to work out how to turn it off. I went into settings but it won’t let me turn this feature off.

I have downloaded a number of games for the Xperia X10 but nothing has really been outstanding but it doesn’t mean there is none that are, I just have yet to find them.

The Xperia X10 has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which puts the Apple iPhone to shame, a large internal memory of 1 GB and this can be cranked up to 16 GB by inserting the microSD memory card. My phone came with an 8 gig card which should be sufficient anyway.

The phone has Wi-Fi plus an HTML browser. It will soon have HTML5 browser support with the next firmware.

Let’s take a look at the specs:

Key features

Quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G support

7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA support

4 inch touch screen (800 x 480 pixels) with scratch-resistant surface

16M-colors soon (currently just 65K)

Android OS with complete Sony Ericsson UI customization

Timescape and Mediascape UI

Very good social networking integration

Top quality build

Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon 1 GHz CPU, OpenGL ES 2.0 support; 384 MB of RAM

8.1megapixel camera with auto focus with LED flash, touch focus, image stabilization, geotagging, face and smile detection

WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) video recording @ 30fps

Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS

1GB storage, microSD slot, bundled with an 8GB card

Accelerometer and proximity sensor

Standard 3.5 mm audio jack

microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v2.1

Document viewer

Li-Po 1500 mAh (BST-41) battery

Great audio quality

Main disadvantages

No video calling whatsoever

No Flash support for the web browser

No FM radio

Lousy loudspeaker

I guess these disadvantages are not too bad. You can download an Android FM radio app, Flash should be supported in the future, the speaker could be hooked up to a better one but the lack of front camera for Video calling is something you will have to get used to as I can’t see a way around that one.

Three have a good offers for this phone and you can find out more on the specs they offer here
