Glancing off that page, I bounced over 2 a post @ NWRepublican.blogspot.com “Why Oregon Republican’s Lost” which seems to indicate that the loss is related to a sort of conservative low tide and concludes, “However suffice it to say that I don’t believe this has been one of those election cycles where Republicans can point fingers and cleansing themselves of bad wood.”

Sounds like denial to me — did the author fail to read the voter’s guide?  The Republican Party of Oregon is guilty of electoral malpractice.  We had candidates on the ballot that didn’t even have statements in the voter’s guide.  We had other candidates that looked more like 2nd tier Democrats than 1st tier Republicans.  The fact is this: political parties exist to elect representatives that mirror the constituency — the Republican Party of Oregon failed to mirror the constituency and elect representatives, I’d say we’ve got some “bad wood”.

Through compulsory dues trade unions enslave their membership and the bloated yoke of their administration imposes a cost on industry that is little more than a protection racket. Rather than correct the problem, Merkley’s opposition to free trade seeks to insulate the business-as-usual, fat-cat union bosses that run his campaign.

Merkley’s campaign masks the sinister intentions of his bosses behind a curtain of “Creating Quality Jobs”. The fundamental falacy being that a hackneyed political puppet can create anything. The government does not create jobs, an optimistic view of what actually occurs is that the government transfers jobs. Given our government’s horrible managerial record with Social Security, Medicare, and Education, I seriously doubt that one private sector job extracted equals one public sector job.

I just received your “Wyden News Now” newsletter.  I am very interested in the piece of legislation you and Representative Rahm Emanuel introduced titled the “Fair Flat Tax Act of 2007″.

Like many small business owners, my business is registered as an “S-Corporation”.  Under current law it is a “pass-through entity” where it’s income is taxed at my personal tax rate.  Our income is not large but, it’s a living — I suspect many registered “S-Corporations” are similar.

According to your newsletter, “On the corporate side, the bill ends … the use of pass-through entities as tax shelters”.  Does this mean me and my family will be lumped-in with “tax shelters” and taxed at 35%?
