Everyone seems to be swooning over Hermes Crocodile bags so much so, that they’ve started breeding their own crocodiles on their own farm in Australia. This move will make much more sense once you hear their stats.

Hermes on average makes around 3,000 crocodile bags every year and the demands seem to continue to grow. It takes three to four crocodiles just to make one Hermes bag. At times customers have to wait several years for a certain bag that on average will cost them about $48,410! Wow, that’s like a brand new car!

Of course PETA has something to say about this. Here it is:

“The thought of purposely breeding and killing crocodiles for an outdated, overpriced handbag should make any fashionista’s skin crawl. If Hermes really wants to be a leader in the fashion industry, it should stop killing animals for cold-blooded vanity and use cruelty-free mock croc and fake snake instead…”.

I’m not sure how I feel about all of this, but what are your thoughts?

There’s usually a direct relationship between shoes and dogs, not so much cats. So it came to me as a surprise when my friend’s shoe got scratched up. It was kind of funny, yet I felt bad because the shoes were his working shoes, and on top of that, they were leather Kenneth Cole shoes. So I looked up Google to see if leather can even be repaired at all. Surprisingly, it can and you can even buy your own kit! Yay for DIY!

So the kit apparently includes a bunch of stuff, which makes the whole repairing process sound complicated, but I’m still kind of curious to try it out myself. It reminds me of a little art project. So to repair scratches or minor tears, the kit has colored liquid adhesives that cover up the scratches in a matching color. You either choose or mix together the colors to match whatever color your leather is in. Then you use a toothpick to even out this adhesive as well as to smooth and blend the adhesive to the background. Next, the kit comes with various textured grain paper in which you can choose to best match the grain/pattern of your leather. This grain paper will provide a grain to the adhesive to further blend into the surrounding. Place this paper flatly over the scratch and use the included heat applicator to heat the paper and the adhesive. The heat will cause the adhesive to strongly bond to the leather. And wah-la, your leather has been fixed. Of course, please make sure you completely cool your leather first before using it again. If the scratches or holes are too deep, like say your dog bit a huge chunk out of it, then I’m afraid this kit will not work. In that case, you seriously might want to go visit a leather repair shop if you still want your leather.

Here we go again, another ad that I adore, this time, from Yves Saint Laurent. Christy Turlington looks absolutely gorgeous here (well actually, she’s just gorgeous). I really love the 90s vibe to the ad. It’s classic and eye-catching. The contrasting black and white with Christy’s red lips; it’s visually stunning. And the black leather tote pictured here is as lovely as the supermodel. I think they did a great job.

Do you gals fear snakes? Well, anything related to snakes just creep me out! I guess it is unfortunate for me because it seems that the new and popular trend today is snakeskin handbags. Boy, do I hate this fashion statement! Not only do I feel that these bags are hideous, they also gross me out!

I think I should form a protest group and invite a bunch of animal activists to protest this repulsive fashion statement. This protest will be partly for my selfish reasons and partly for saving the earth’s animals. Once this fashion statement ceases, I no longer will be out of the fashion loop. What a clever idea, wouldn’t you think so?

Who would you choose? When looking at both clutches, they seem quite similar.

Christian Louboutin’s clutch (top) is slightly smaller and measures about 9L x 4W x 2H”. It’s made of a shiny lurex exterior with a magnetic flap opening. It retails for about $725.

Valentino’s clutch (bottom) seems to be a bit roomier than Louboutin’s. It measures about 10L x 5W x 1H”. It’s made of high gloss patent leather with a sateen lining. It opens at the top with a zip closure instead of being magnetic. It retails for about $985.

They both have pretty steep price tags, but I say Valentino won out this one, but don’t worry Louboutin, I will always heart your shoes more!

I saw this picture and thought it was too funny not to blog about it. Karl Lagerfeld is seen here carrying a Karl Who? Bag designed by Naco Paris. I mean Karl Lagerfeld is in my opinion sort of like a king of fashion, since I love Chanel, and he’s been known to be a genius not only in his creative designs, but also in other fields of art including photography. If you have seen his recent photo ads with Jerry Hall for the Chanel Spring 2009 Handbag Collection, those are all shot by Karl Lagerfeld himself. Standing and posing here in his signature white tied back hair, sunglasses and suit, he carries this canvas bag with great humor. You gotta love Karl.

I was so excited when I heard about this upcoming collaboration, I mass texted my sisters and all my shopping buddies. Jimmy Choo is designing a clothing and accessories collection for H&M! Jimmy Choo shoes, handbags, and clothes for a very affordable price? How could anyone possibly complain about that? They’re even coming out with pieces for men.

I already love shopping at H&M, but somehow, they just keep getting better and better. Now, I just have to try and be patient because the collection won’t be for sale until November 14th. Oh boy, I can’t wait!
