NTID Pacific Northwest Alumni Chapter Event

April 30, 2012

Join the RIT/NTID Alumni Chapter of the Pacific Northwest for a wine tasting from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at Medicine Creek Winery, 947 Old Pacific Highway SE Olympia, WA 98513. Refreshments will be served, and there will be raffle prizes and wine baskets for Mother’s Day. Tickets are $25 per person, and funds raised will support Sebastian and Lenore Rosica Hall. Alumni Golf Tournament Scheduled

Register now is open for the Ellie Rosenfield Memorial – 13^th Annual NTID Alumni Golf Tournament. The all day event will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 at Champion Hills Country Club in Victor, N.Y. Proceeds will benefit the Sebastian and Lenore Rosica Hall Construction Fund and the Dr. Ellie Rosenfield Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The tournament will feature a full day of golf, networking and tons of fun. Registration includes continental breakfast, refreshments, an elegant buffet dinner, prizes and highly anticipated raffle drawings.

NTID Alumni History Advisory Group

Sam Holcomb, SVP ’74, ’77, is an instructor in RIT/NTID’s ASLIE program, and a member of the NTID History Advisory Board.

Q: How many father and son teams have taught English at RIT/NTID?
A: One. Bob Panara and his son, John. Bob retired in 1988, and John has been teaching at RIT/NTID since 1978.

Q. Did you ever use a VISTAPHONE?
A. A precursor to video relay services, NTID used VISTAPHONES in early 1970's.

Rosica Hall Fundraising Efforts

Fundraising continues for Sebastian and Lenore Rosica Hall, the two-story facility designed to foster innovation and research among deaf and hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers. A matching grant challenge was issued to alumni by the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund. To see how the challenge is progressing, check the alumni thermometer.
