The Compassion ministry is looking for volunteers to add to a team that provides lunch once per month for the volunteers and staff of LAAN (Lansing Area Aids Network). 2) Organizer alert! If you like sorting and organizing, we need you! Sunday, August 25th at 1 pm, we'll be sorting up to 200 backpacks and supplies. Please contact Beth.Helman@RivChurch.com for more details.

3) We need one or two more people for backpack intake at the Compassion table in the Riv lobby for every service over the next two weekends (Aug 17/18 and Aug 24/25). Again, Beth.Helman@RivChurch.com is the lady to connect with.

Refresh - Riv's ministry for mom's with young children- is ready to start another fun filled year. Join us on Thursday August 22nd for a registration picnic at Valhalla Park in Holt at 10am. Zoo Crew is looking for nursery workers beginning Thursday Sept. 12th and meeting every other week from 8:45am untill 11:45am. Zoo Crew is the children's program during Refresh (Riv's ministry for moms with young children). This program serves children 6mos through Kindergarten age. This can be a volunteer or paid position. We have another soup kitchen service opportunity on August 10th. First shift 9:30 to 11:30 to prepare the food, set up the tables and get ready for the guests. Second shift 11 to 1, serve the guests, do dishes, clean up. Church is Christ Lutheran at 122 S Pennsylvania, Lansing, corner of Michigan and Penn. (There is a church across the street, make sure you are on the west side.) Please e-mail Cricket.Lott@RivChurch.com with your preferred shift and how many are coming with you. Please note that volunteers must be ten years or older.

The backpack drive is back! Please consider helping a local child in need by providing a new backpack filled with all the necessary school supplies for the fall. To sign up and get a shopping list, please stop by the Compassion table in lobby on August 3-18. Backpacks need to be dropped off to the table by Sunday, August 25.
