Instead of gathering, we will be serving our city by volunteering together. During the festival, thousands of parents, children, teachers and volunteers will enjoy free school supplies, educational information, healthy foods, entertainment, boat rides and tours of the SC Aquarium.

This fall River Church will be hosting Financial Peace University for the first time. Since we’ll all be busy painting Mary Ford Elementary during Spring Break, we’ve decided to move our April 17 gathering to their cafeteria!

Plan to join us…and help spread the word. The Gathering will still begin at 10:30, but it will be held at Mary Ford Elementary INSTEAD OF at Orange Grove Elementary Charter School.

Children are welcome in the Gathering.

The LoveGave movement continues as we set out to paint an entire school during Charleston County’s Spring Break. Mary Ford Elementary is a Title 1 school in North Charleston that is in huge need of revitalization, but is not yet eligible for funds that could fill that need.

Phase 1: From March 1st – 31st we must raise $15,000 to cover the expenses necessary to paint Mary Ford Elementary.

Phase 2: From April 1st to April 14th we must recruit as many people as possible to paint Mary Ford Elementary School.

This is not about Paint. This is about Love.

Our Funding Goals

The funding goal for LoveGave Paint is $15,000. We need hundreds of folks serving around the clock during this week. Let’s do this together! Cast the vision to everyone you know to GIVE and to SERVE. We’ll need donations of cash, paint, paint supplies, cleaning supplies, your VACATION DAYS.

January 30, 2011 marked the first anniversary of River Church Sunday morning Gatherings. What an exciting day! Our largest crowd ever…the music was loud…and we ate a LOT of food. Take a look at some of the photo highlights from year one…

Some of the highlights of what God has done in this first year alone:

• He led a dozen people to baptism
• He brought scores of people together in brand new Community Groups throughout Charleston
• He provided funds to give 100 $25 gift cards to every adult in the church to use for showing His love to a stranger through LoveGave: Stories
• He provided over 600 backpacks to students in Charleston through the gifts of Charlestonians during LoveGave: Schools. The goal was 300
• He provided over 370 bikes for kids in Charleston who may have had no other Christmas Gifts during LoveGave: Bikes. The goal was 250
• He sent one of our Partners to India for 16 days of ministry, research, and equipping of church planters
• He brought a new staff member onboard to lead our RiverKids children’s ministry

And that’s just the shortlist.

Year two is already  set to be even more exciting.
