I look forward to making this vinegar every year. It’s delicious as an ingredient in your favorite homemade dressing for salads or in this cocktail I created a couple of year’s ago here.

I’ve done quite a bit of navel gazing about why I’ve fallen off the running wagon, especially as my girth has gotten girthier. I ran 522 miles in 2011. That’s roughly 10 miles a week. I ran about 200 miles in the first 6 months of 2012, about 7 1/2 miles per week. Then, just a run here or there and maybe a month of commitment before stopping again. My conclusion as to why sits squarely with my dog.

Scout was diagnosed with moderate arthritis in the summer of 2012. Walks were fine, but no more running. I didn’t realize at the time that her diagnosis would affect my workouts. Since I’ve been working from home, finding time to get up and get out for exercise would seem to be effortless. But anyone who runs his or her own business will tell you, there is never enough time in the day for everything that needs doing. You have to make time for the important things and getting out with Scout has been a priority since we brought her home as a pup.

Now that I’ve figured out why I stopped, I’ve started running again. I run every other day, working my way back up to 3 miles at a pop. Scout can run with me as I train, but soon enough, she won’t be able to tolerate the mileage. My husband is going to fill in the gaps, so we can keep Scout happy and well adjusted. Oh, that goes for me too.

Anyway, with the National Stationery Show coming up in May, I’ve been asked to write a 50 or so word blurrrgh in the third person about me and my business.

I also needed a head shot. It needed to be new, as all my selfies are taken in low-resolution with my iPhone, the minute after a new haircut.

So here, duh-duh-duh, is what I’m about:

Cyn Thomas is the illustrator, designer and pattern maker of RiverDog Prints. Her paper goods and gifts are guided by earth, animals, function, food and cocktails. You can also find Cyn canning in her kitchen, walking her dog, being outnumbered by her boys and husband or reading herself to sleep.
