We are proud to announce that Zack Lagrange has committed to play college hockey for the 2026/27 season with Drury University!

Zack has been a Flame since the 2021/22 season, making our team as a 16-year old rookie. He has since re-written the entire record book: franchise assist leader, franchise goal leader, most points in franchise history, most combined regular season and playoff points in league history, 2025 League Scoring Champion, 2025 League MVP, 2026 Playoff Scoring Champion, and !

We are so excited that he is joining Flames alum Matt Candusso, Lukas Ravenstein, and Nolan Bowsher at Drury! Zack is our 5th athlete over the past 2 years to continue play college hockey after his Flames career.

Congratulations Zack we are so excited for you, proud of your accomplishments, and appreciate the impact that you have had on our organization!

We are proud to announce that we have hired Alex Smith as an assistant coach. He is no stranger to our program being that he is from Maple Ridge, is an alumni who previously served as our team captain, and also has prior coaching experience with our team. Having Alex re-join our organization is another commitment to provide the very best junior hockey experience for our athletes!

Alex has a vast hockey resume. He played three seasons as a Flame and was our team captain in his final year of junior hockey. After junior hockey he played collegiate hockey at Thompson Rivers University. He has spent the past 10 years coaching various U15 A1 and U18 A1 teams in Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association and was on our coaching staff for the 2018/19 season. He has helped guide 5 of his RMMHA teams to the BC Hockey Provincial Championships. Alex is also a certified HP1 coach!

We are proud to announce that we have promoted Garett MacDonald to Associate Head Coach. Garett joined our coaching staff last season and was instrumental in helping us achieve the first 3-Peat in 41-years. We are excited to increase his role moving forward. This enhanced role for Garett continues to help our organization provide the very best junior hockey experience for our athletes!

Garett will continue to work with our D-Core this season in addition to his Associate Head Coach duties. He has an extensive hockey resume as a player and coach. Some highlights: 4-year NCAA playing career at Northern Michigan, 1991 NCAA Div.1 Champion, Philadelphia Flyers supplemental draft choice, 2-year professional playing career including the AHL, 1995 ECHL Champion, and has 4-years of NCAA Div.1 assistant coaching experience!

The players from the Ridge Meadows Flames Jr A Hockey team were invited to attend the Pitt Meadows City Council meeting on May 12, 2026 to receive congratulations from Mayor and Council on their championship wins over the last 3 years.

Announcing our Summer Goalie Camp for 2026. This year it will be held on July 27 to 30th at Pitt Meadows Arena.

Ages: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 Birth Years

Maximum 12 Goalies (3 to 1 Goalie Coach to Goaltender Ratio)

Cost: SKATERS AND INVITED GOALIES: $315.00 (includes GST) right up until the start of ID Camp**

**Due to space limitations – acceptance of registration will be at the discretion of the Flames Hockey Operations. Payment will be required to be made by e-transfer within 48 hours of notification of acceptance (to be sent by email). DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL YOU RECEIVE YOUR ACCEPTANCE EMAIL.

We are proud to announce that Flames Goalie, Matthew Candusso, has committed to Drury University to play college hockey for the 2026/27 season!

Candy has been a Flame since the 2023/24 season and has re-written the entire record book: 103 wins (most all-time), 1st goalie to a 3-Peat 20+ win seasons, 2025 Team MVP, 2026 League Goalie of the Year and 3 championships!

Head Coach Announcement

The Ridge Meadows Flames are excited to announce Mike Legg as the next Head Coach of the Ridge Meadows Flames.

Mike is no stranger to our program and the entire Ridge Meadows community. Mike has been on our coaching staff since the 2018/19 season as an Assistant Coach and has coached various teams – particularly the RMMHA U18 A1 team – in RMMHA since the 2017/18 season. Mike is also involved with BC Hockey in the program delivery of the High Performance 1 coaching certification course.

Mike has an extensive hockey resume. He played four years of NCAA Division 1 hockey with the University of Michigan which included several highlights, some being: scoring the famous “Michigan” goal in the 1996 playoffs, and being a member of the 1996 National Championship winning team. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils of the NHL. He also has 6 years of professional playing experiences across several leagues: Finnish Elite League, IHL, CHL, WPHL, WCHL, and ECHL.
Mike is a member of Burnaby Fire Department and is an extensive volunteer in the Ridge Meadows community. He is a strong communicator and team builder with a unique hockey background as a player and coach with specialties both in on-ice and off-ice developmental skills.

We are excited to welcome Mike his wife Sara and children Abby, Emme, and Maxx to this new chapter as our head coach.

For the first time in 41 years, we have a 3-peat champion in the league.

With a nail-biter of a win on Thursday, April 2nd, the Ridge Meadows Flames secured the Championship Title for a 3rd year in a row.

Congratulations to all the players and coaching staff for an amazing season. A special thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors and fans for another amazing year!

Way to go Flames!!
