The singer cannot wait for her boyfriend Ryan Press to pop the question and is trying hard to remain patient.

The R&B star has been going out with the A&R professional for a year and Brandy gushed that he inspires her to give her best performances.

“I wish we were engaged. He’s taking a little long on the ring side of things, but I’m patient,” she told Ebony magazine, before recalling how his presence has pushed her to deliver her most stunning vocals. “I wanted to impress him. I wanted him to be proud of me; I was inspired by him. I want him to love my songs. I want him to love my voice.”

Brandy also spoke about her younger brother Ray J, who she believes has been tarnished with an unfair reputation as a ladies’ man.

A musician himself, the 31-year-old famously starred in a leaked sex tape with his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian and is currently grieving the death of his on-off love Whitney Houston.

“He’s misunderstood. It’s one thing to have this image of [a player] but it’s another to become this other type of person they’re trying to make my brother out to be,” she said. “I know who he is. This is a man who loves his mama and his sister and his niece. Ray J loved Kim Kardashian. They were irresponsible with their – you know – but he loved her.”

Adam Levine insists the reason he has been so “promiscuous” in the past is because he loves women “so much”.

The hunky singer is famed for his cheeky charm and good looks, and has no shortage of female admirers. Adam – who recently split from model Anne V – says he appreciates the female form, which is why he has such a colourful dating history.

“There’s two kinds of men: There are men who are f**cking misogynist pigs, and then there are men who just really love women, who think they’re the most amazing people in the world. And that’s me,” Adam said in an interview with Details magazine.

“Maybe the reason I was promiscuous, and wanted to sleep with a lot of them, is that I love them so much.”

Adam has been romantically linked to many high-profile stars in the past, including Jessica Simpson and Cameron Diaz. The Maroon 5 frontman is upset that his actions have previously sparked disdain from fans, as he wants to be respected for his music and television work.

“I’ve always felt a little misrepresented in the world,” he mused. “I felt like people only knew me as a singer who dated pretty girls. A little bit of a bimbo. Maybe I was kind of a bimbo.

“I was the music dude that was naked all the time with the girls, and that’s fine, no problem with that. But I wanted to create a little balance. When The Voice came around, I thought, ‘People now know that I have a brain.’”

Adam stars as a judge and mentor on the US version of hit TV show The Voice, alongside Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green.

Paris Hilton has split from DJ Afrojack, it has been reported.

The hotel heiress has been romantically linked to the music star since last year and they have been working on Paris’ new album. However, there is speculation the pair called time on the romance after just six months because Afrojack didn’t feel ready to commit.

“Afrojack had moved into Paris’ Beverly Hills mansion earlier this year, and the two got very serious, very fast,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “Paris was really into him and admires the work he has done… He took a lot of criticism for working with her, but he truly does believe that she has talent.

“Paris was smitten with him, but Afrojack just wanted to have fun and not be exclusive with anyone. He is on the road practically every day performing in clubs all over the world, and he just isn’t ready to settle down, whereas Paris is.”

The socialite has reportedly been left heartbroken by the break-up.

Sources close to the 31-year-old claim Paris would be prepared to tone down her partying lifestyle and settle down for the right man.

“You don’t see a lot of people over 30 going to clubs, it’s almost sad to see,” the insider added. “Paris would love to be married with kids, it’s all she ever talks about, but she hasn’t found her Prince Charming yet and she isn’t getting any younger.”

Paris is also believed to be desperate for her new record to be a success, after her debut effort sold less than 200,000 copies in the US when it was released in 2006.

The website reports she would love to tour around Europe to showcase her new material and feels “pressure to deliver” a hit album.

Ozzy Osbourne prefers more intimate shows, as when he plays festivals the audience feel “eight f**king miles away”.

The singer has reunited for a world tour and new album with Black Sabbath. Ozzy and his bandmates Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi are enjoying a range of shows, but admit it’s the more intimate moments that appeal more.

“At festivals the audience are eight f**king miles away!” he laughed in an interview with Kerrang! magazine. “You’re there going ‘iiis aanybooooody ooooout theeeere?’”

The band is enjoying being back together. Tony and Geezer both admit that Ozzy lightens the mood during recording.

“Every time we get back together it’s like we’ve never been apart. Time doesn’t seem to exist. We talk about old times. Ozzy’s always telling jokes, pi*sing about,” Geezer explained, before Tony added: “Ozzy’s really enthusiastic, and it’s great to see him like that. I haven’t seen him like that for a long time. He really wants to do it, and we’re all the same. And that’s such a great attitude.”

Ozzy says retirement isn’t an option. The 63-year-old star wants to keep going in the music industry.

“How the f**k can I retire? It’s not a job. I didn’t go, ‘Ooh, I’m 65 now, I’m gonna get my pension and look at my photo album from when I met Paul McCartney.’ It’s a passion! Do you ever stop having sex?” he exclaimed.

The star and her fiancé Eric Johnson welcomed their daughter Maxwell Drew into the world on May 1.

Jessica has introduced her first child to fans by appearing on the front cover of People magazine. The star is seen beaming as she clutches the little girl, who boasts a shock of brown hair. The tot has a cream dress with brown neck panelling on and appears to be sleeping.

“Life has completely changed,” Jessica says in the accompanying interview. “From how I sleep to what I think about, Maxwell has definitely taken over everything!”

The new parents still can’t believe they have a baby together. They think Maxwell has taken after Jessica when it comes to her looks, but is more like her dad in personality.

“We stare at her all the time,” the star said. “We can’t get enough!”

Jessica, 31, gave birth to Maxwell via caesarean section and is still recovering from the operation. She is breastfeeding the new arrival, which also took some getting used to.

“It’s the worst if I have to pump and give Eric a bottle to give her. I miss holding her and having that closeness,” Jessica said.

He said it and many agree with him: ‘The charts are full of shit’ according to Tom Clarke from ‘The Enemy’. He says that the current big selling acts are using their financial resources in order to get to the top. According to him they would not be successful if they did not have ‘the biggest bank’. Anyway the singer has much more important things to worry about. The latest album for the band ‘Streets in the Sky’ was released on Monday the 21st of May. It came in at number 29 on the 27th of May. Clarke says that he is not too bothered about where the band came since he does not respect the charts in the first place.

Are the music charts really being manipulated?

Modern music is prone to effective marketing campaigns. The artists will come out with all sorts of publicity stunts in order to ensure that their song is a hit. Tom Clarke from ‘The Enemy’ is merely expressing some of the frustrations that are felt by committed singers who have to watch while their work is being trampled on by manufactured bands: “Kind of whatever to the charts, it’s full of shit anyway. We took time off and we knew we were coming back into a completely different marketplace. It’s the Wild West at the moment, it could do anything”.

A series of cheap talent contests are ensuring that the numbers ones are almost pre-determined. Tom Clarke feels that bands like ‘The Enemy’ are being left behind amidst this craze: “The UK music chart at the moment is who’s got the biggest bank. We all know Simon Cowell has – if you’ve got X Factor TV money to put behind it, it’s a bonus.” It was a rather bitter interview for Tom. He was also not pleased with the enthusiastic arrangements for the Olympics, branding the games “an over-egged sports day” which would eventually ruin London. The singer is concerned about the costs to the taxpayer and politicians who are somehow attempting to manipulate the event in order to foster a sense of artificial patriotism.

It was a major coup for the band when ‘Mumford & Sons’ joined Bruce Springsteen to perform on stage. They sang ‘Hungry Heart’, one of the most iconic pieces in recent times. This charming folk collective is not easy to find because they have an incredibly busy summer schedule. However they found time to make an appearance regardless of a slew of overseas festival appearances. An opportunity of a lifetime beckoned at a Dutch music festival when ‘The Boss’ invited them to join him on stage. Few artists of this generation would turn down such an offer and the band willingly obliged with the request.

Two great music acts on stage

The two groups performed at the iconic Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands. An encore of his lengthy 23-song set gave Bruce Springsteen the opportunity he needed to invite the rising group on stage. ‘Mumford & Sons’ revealed that they had already finished recording their follow-up album after the breakthrough debut album titled ‘Sigh No More’. It was a double-platinum set which was released in 2009. Eventually they even got 2 Grammy nominations. Their frontman Marcus Mumford told the crowd that they were nearly there in terms of completing their latest album. According to their keyboardist Ben Lovett, they will be releasing it on the 24th of September this year.

Nevertheless ‘Mumford & Sons’ did not tell the audience what the title of the new album would be. The British folk group has a new song which is played as a soundtrack for ‘Brave’, a new animated film by Pixar. The movie hit the theaters on the 22nd of June and the group provided the music for the song. Birdy (another English newcomer) did the vocals for the track. Marcus Mumford explained why they did that particular project: “It’s quite fun doing a song for a movie rather than for an album. We liked the idea of having an orchestra in the background and having a girl like Birdy sing – it’s been quite liberating,”

We did not know that ‘Live Aid’ was some sort of ego-trip for musicians who want to feel special. We assumed that Bob Geldof was genuinely interested in all those poor people in the world who must be rescued by kindhearted limousine liberals in the West. However the famous star of everything charitable has described how he had a narrow escape from a shallow life of mediocrity: ‘If I hadn’t done ‘Live Aid’, I’d have been like Paul Weller or Sting‘. Is this meant to be a compliment or an insult? Readers will have to work this one out. The singer says that he could have enjoyed a fruitful solo career if he had not decided to make a commitment to fundraising. However we know that many artists have been able to balance the two activities effectively.

This is not to say that Bob Geldof is all about leftwing causes and fundraising. The ‘Boomtown Rats’ member set up Band Aid and also created an accompanying concert called ‘Live Aid’ in the 1980s. However says that it would have been criminally irresponsible for him not to engage in those noble events. Nevertheless Bob believes that his activities damaged his music career to an extent. Some would disagree with this assumption: it is far better to be a respected member of the community that to be a vacuous record-producing machine that is occasionally known for diva tantrums. A knighthood was offered to Geldof in recognition of his contribution to various charitable causes.

Activism is never easy and perhaps some of his detractors are driven by opposition to the causes that he espouses. Sir Bob Geldof is not without his controversies (not least being the occasional hypocrisy). However he is a well respected member of the music fraternity and charitable set. That does not stop him from the occasional nostalgia: “It’s completely damaged my ability to do the thing I love. If it hadn’t happened I think I would have been able to make the transition from The Boomtown Rats to a solo thing more like Paul Weller or Sting.”

Has Madonna learnt to eat some humble pie? It seems that the ‘Material Girl’ singer is changing her tune. Recently she was particularly bitchy about Lady Gaga following the release of the album ‘Born this Way’. She hinted that Lady Gaga was nothing more than a cheap imitation of Madonna. The younger singer responded graciously even if the insults must have hurt. Now we hear that Madonna has been doing covers from ‘Born this Way’. Footage has emerged online and so she cannot feign ignorance. During a chorus for ‘Express Yourself’ the singer slips some material from her professional rival’s hit single. Apparently the clip was shot in Israel over the weekend as part of the ‘MDNA’ tour promotions.

First of all we now know that Madonna’s objections to Lady Gaga were nothing more than professional jealousy. Secondly we know that the ‘MDNA’ tour needs a bit of perking up because the original album is bombing on the charts. On Thursday the 31st of May, Madonna will begin her tour. However she is already incorporating tracks such as ‘She’s Not Me’ into the Lady Gaga catalogue in order to impress the audiences. The medley is a great idea but the bitchiness is not quite ‘acceptable’. Of course the ‘Express Yourself’ singer has previously spoken out about the similarities between her song and ‘Born this Way’.

At the time she said that Lady Gaga’s efforts were ‘reductive’ in nature. While responding to question on a US television program, the ‘20/20’ singer said that she had noted the similarities between a track she made in 1989 and the hit single which Lady Gaga released in 2011. When she said that she found the similarities ‘amusing’, nobody believed her. Madonna is well known for her sharp responses to any perceived competition. Her missives on her younger colleague were thinly veiled: “She’s a very talented artist. I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done. [Her songs seem to be a] statement about taking something that was in the zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it.” Don’t hold back Madonna!

John Lydon, Sex Pistols front man criticized music reality shows – particularly American Idol and The Voice as having a demeaning and destructive impact on music.

Making reference to the hurtful tone of humiliation and leering at who gets voted off Lydon was quoted saying that such shows dragged musician in to looking like Las Vegas wannabes. This depiction according to Lydon is utterly corrupting since it misleads people in to thinking that what music is all about.

Lydon insisted that the destructive and demoing impact of music reality shows could in large be attributed to the greed of record companies which is an element that has also played a huge role in the deterioration of the music industry.

During his interview Lydon also revealed that he felt no sympathy towards record companies and their financial troubles saying that their all binding contract nonsense was the reason record companies deserved fell apart. Lydon also added that the modernization of regurgitating and sampling of old ideas was not healthy and encouraged live music as an alternative, referring to it as being healthy.

The singer talked about the prolonged gap between PiL albums saying that the 20 year gap was not his choice but the record companies – whose contract obligation kept him in a state of non-recoupment. Lydon added that the gap was quite difficult for him “almost like a state of mental starvation” however he managed to outwait it.
