Actually, I’ve been living with Type 1 diabetes for 20 years, so I know very well the difference between Type 1 and Type 2. I thought it was ironic to be encouraging people to buy a “megajug” of sugar loaded soft drink, let alone the rest of the KFC menu, to support diabetes research regardless of the Type. Being cool or funny had nothing to do with it.

Well, actually no. Juvenile Diabetes aka Type 1 is an Auto Immune Disease that people get when their body decides it wants to kill all the Beta cells and leave them with no insulin. It’s caused by genetics and triggered by a virus or something else you CAN’T CONTROL.

If this was for Type 2 diabetes, ok then fine. But seriously people need to know the difference and stop making generalizations about this disease.

Also on a semi-related note: the pictures of the food tagged with “Diabetes”? Not cool or funny.

This is the Google ad which I’m told will air during the Superbowl. Far as I’m aware, Google has never run an ad before. Is Google feeling some pressure by Bing, perhaps?
