A Mouth Full

First he greets all his friends and makes friends with the new dogs that are here. Then off to search for all the tennis balls in the yard. Calvin likes to have at least two or three balls in his mouth all the time. So Calvin gets the balls and we play fetch for a while.

Into the Freezer

When it’s time to stop playing ball we have to take them from his mouth and we put them in the freezer. If we don’t put them in the freezer, he will continue dropping the slimy balls in our laps until we give in and throw them again. After some time has gone by, Calvin gets the fetch it and goes around the yard and gathers two to three more balls and we start the whole process over marketing again by the end of the day my freezer is packed with all the balls Calvin has gathered throughout the day.

It’s Friday at our pet sitting service and the day started a little earlier than yesterday. Since it’s getting lighter earlier, the dogs think when they see sunlight…it’s time to get up. One of the many great things about pet sitting dogs is waking up with them. They are always so happy. They immediately provide services think it’s playtime and I’m one of their 4-legged friends…truth be told I have been accused of acting and being a dog before! Good thing I’m an early riser and also happy to wake and start the day with my furry little clients.

Benny is Hilarious

The play time started today at 6:40 with Benny and Cliff. Benny is hilarious when he plays. He tries to grab the legs with his mouth and most of the dogs look at him like, “what are you doing?” Benny was rescued from Katrina. When he started coming to Robin’s Nest pet sitting service, he had some learning to do. He is an amazing dog and friend. We call Benny a “Lifer” because he is here all the time. His Mom travels a lot so we are his home away from home.

The Excitement Continues

Several dogs arrived and the excitement continued. I went to pick up Mousse and Lola and as always Lola was waiting by the front door for me. When Lola is excited she needs to have something in her mouth so she races around her house looking for a ball, bone, or pretty much anything. Mousse is a bit more contained with his excitement…he’s the mature one of the two!

The day moseyed on with walks and a beach trip. Then of course…Nap time in the afternoon.

Hula comes to our dog kennel three days a week for dog day care and on occasion spends the night. Every day that Hula comes to Robin’s Nest Pet Care she runs down the path with such excitement she almost barrels right through the gate. Her friends Buddy, Cliff and Mikey were already here. The next furry friend to arrive at our dog kennel was Calvin. Calvin is a black lab who like most typical labs always has to have a ball in his mouth. He hadn’t been here for a while so he was super excited to see all his friends.

So Many Friends, So Much Fun

Ely arrived shortly after Calvin. Ely was a little nervous at first when he started coming to dog day care about six months ago but now he can’t get out of his dad’s car fast enough to see what friends of his are here to play. His favorite, well I should say his two favorites are Buddy and Panko. More dogs kept coming and the excitement lead explodes when Ely saw Panko running down to the gate. I thought their tails were going to fly off they were wagging so hard. Minnie, Augie, and Hazel were the last ones to arrive so now our pack was complete for the day…14 to be exact at dog day care in Santa Cruz.

Every Dog Gets an Outing

Throughout the day Kelli and I would take 2 dogs out at a time either for a dog walk or a beach play. Just taking 2 dogs out at time can be a bit challenging because everybody thinks it’s their turn to go even if they just came back for an outing.

As the afternoon arrives there is calmness that has taken over here. ..nap time!!!

The day winds down and slowly the daycare dogs leave for the day.
