We’re still down a bit in attendance, but baseball and softball are about to wrap up. So when everyone gets back we’re going to be pressed for room. A great problem to have.

Bob, our worship leader, was out today. This left James to lead the worship. Today was his first go at it and I have to say he did a great job! With Drew on drums, there were four young ladies singing, as well as a male voice with one of our men. They all did an outstanding job. We even went ole school, singing “Victory in Jesus!” I’m proud of James, our band, and the additional voices we’re adding. The worship band future looks bright at LifePointe.

The message was the ninth in our series: Rooted. This series is all about examining and becoming aware of the basic tenets of the Christian faith. It’s been a blast to prepare for and deliver. Today’s topic was The Resurrection. The Resurrection power was present this morning. There was a great response and God is still changing lives. Some big faith decisions were made this morning. We also had quite a few first time guests today. Thanks for being a part of LifePointe today!

After the service, we had Lunch@LifePointe. There was A LOT of food, especially dessert. I may not eat for a week. Thanks to everyone who prepared food and worked to get it out for everyone this morning. Our group of volunteers are second to none.

This all comes on the heels of The Pointe’s Womanless Beauty Pagent, held Friday night. The Pointe is the student ministry of our church. They wanted some way to raise money so they could have a party for the younger kids of our church. They came up with this Womanless Beauty Pagent idea. There was a big crowd Friday night and we had about 20 “women” participate. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time. The pagent was hugely successful. Looks like a big party is in store for our younger children.

So now I’m going to catch my breath for a few minutes they head back for our Prayer and Share Small Group Experience. I’m looking forward to that tonight.
<p

I’ve had a least two books going continuously since the beginning of the year. And I’ve read a bunch of really good ones, all recently published and released. I was blown away.

Of course I’d heard the quote most attributed to Jim Elliot:

He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.

That’s definitely a great saying, but now, since I’ve read this book, I see that Jim Elliot made that his life’s ambition: to give everything for His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The book is almost entirely a compilation of Elliot’s many letters and journals, beginning when he was quite young. His wife pulled all of these together for this book. What you get is a deep look into the heart and mind of a young man sold out for Christ. The depth of his heart amazed me. His struggles, desires, and dreams are all laid out there. I have to say I was emabarrassed by my little measly prayers and ambitions as I read his.

My prayer life has flourished and taken on a new intensity since reading this book. I’ve been inspired to trust God more fully for both the smallest and largest things in my life. After all, they’re all small to God, right?

If you’ve never read <a

Our attendance was back up to our summer average after a July 4th dive. Quite a few new faces, as well, which is always exciting.

Our band increased in size, with a couple of our young ladies singing the opening song. They did a really good job with the song “Give Me Your Eyes.” For the rest of our worship time, one of our guys sang backup. I love seeing more people getting involved in our worship band. And it’s interesting to see all the talent we have.

My message was part 8 of our summer series: Rooted. The topic for Sunday was my favorite, always. I spoke on JESUS CHRIST. I had a good time preparing and delivering. Everything felt good about the entire message. I pray God uses it for His glory.

Right now, we’ve got Camp KidzPointe going on through Wednesday night. The camp is for any area first through fourth graders. It starts at 6:00 pm and runs through 8:00 pm. If you’ve got a child that falls within that age group, they’re welcome tonight.

<!-- Performance optimized by W3 Total Cache.
