Youth Rock N Roll Workshops!

Attention All guitarists, bassists, drummers and singers ages 10-17.
Would you like top play in a band, learn a variety of rock styles, meet
musicians, jam with your friends, write your own songs, perform in local
venues and possibly have the best time of your life? Arizona Youth Rock and Roll Workshops strives to give kids, ages 10 to 17, an opportunity outside of private lessons to play music together in a friendly, safe and productive environment. We instruct kids both individually and as a group on their chosen instruments. Our goal is to help students develop ear training, write songs, and “rock out” together as a band. Beyond that, AZ youth rock and roll strives to foster the kind of confidence in kids that inspires them to make positive choices, build strong creative
expression, and seek collaborative relationships. A program for the East Valley’s young musicians to meet, practice, and perform!

Arizona Youth Rock and Roll Workshops now offers the opportunities these musicians are missing! Being part of a group, organized practices, opportunities top perform live, writing new songs composing set lists and having fun are all now available to area musicians.

Jeff Farner, Owner of Drum Lessons Arizona, is now sponsoring this program along with other
musical and business professionals. Jeff has years of experience performing, teaching, and running his own business. With Jeff’s help AZ Youth Rock and Roll Workshops offers kids and teen year-round private instruction and group band instruction along with many opportunities to jam together informally and formally in a public setting.

Our program offers:

Structured practices with professional guidance.

Supervised Live performances.

Students are matched up in age and skill as much as possible.

At Arizona Youth Rock and Roll Workshops we believe in weekly rehearsals, monthly performances, and practice assignments!

“Glee” Brings Joy

It’s characters may feel like a bunch of high school misfits, but the quirky musical TV comedy “Glee” is putting smiles on the faces of music industry executives searching for new revenue in an era of plunging album sales.

Two months into the 2009-10 TV season, “Glee” is drawing a weekly audience of 8.6 million viewers to the Fox television network. Fans have bought more than two million tunes sung by the show’s cast on iTunes, and soundtracks are being compiled and sold in traditional stores.

Revenues are being split among Fox and the record company, and artists and music publishers are being paid licensing fees for songs “Glee” uses in musical numbers in each episode.

Record labels are desperate for new types of revenue.

That’s exactly what Sony Music Entertainment’s Columbia Records did last January when the Fox network shopped a pilot of “Glee” to record labels months before it aired.

Columbia won the deal to partner with News Corp’s Fox on the release of all “Glee” music on Apple Corp’s iTunes, as well as on traditional soundtrack albums.

Apparently, industry economics are such that the revenue from TV partnerships “is pretty much a drop in the bucket” in the multi-billion dollar record business.

Metallica taps into iPhone with music game

Headbangers have a reason to steady their gaze a bit now that Metallica has made its way onto iPhones with a finger-tapping music app called Tap Tap Revenge: Metallica.

In the game, players tap areas on the screen in time with the music, much the way players strum or drum plastic instruments in video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, except on a smaller scale.

The band could probably make more money performing one or two shows live. The 10 songs on the game sell for $4.99 each.

Evanescence Return to the Stage at “Secret” New York Gig

It was a chant that hadn’t been heard in Manhattan in more than two years, and it started a little after 9 p.m., as the anxious crowd who packed out the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom started growing more and more impatient: “EVAN-ES-SCENTS, EVAN-ES-SCENTS.” And though the last time Amy Lee floated across a stage George W. Bush was in office, you wouldn’t have been able to tell from the band’s adept, hard-charging performance.

But as the Evanescence frontwoman explained to the audience at last night’s extremely intimate secret concert, the one-off performance was quite necessary. After all, on November 8th, Evanescence will be performing before 40,000 screaming fans at the Maquinaria Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the band needed a little limbering up before heading south. “Thanks for being our guinea pigs,” Lee joked to the mostly female crowd.

With Evanescence hard at work on the follow-up to 2006’s The Open Door, it’ll be another year before they’re back in New York, making last night’s concert a one-of-a-kind experience for the band’s rabid fans, who sold out the show in five minutes. Get the bluray ready for more from this popular band!
