This week for me personally is a very weak week. (Try saying that fast!) I have no interest in lot of songs released this week, but the one song I did buy is Blue Sky by The Allman Brothers Band. This is hands down in my top 5 of best Rock Band songs, with a guitar solo to rival that of Green Grass and High Tides from the first Rock Band.

Since I started doing this new format of Thursday Throwback articles, this is the strongest week I have had yet. A number of my highly played Rock Band songs was released this week, including The Only Exception by Paramore, Rock and Roll All Nite (live) by KISS, Thunderbirds Are Go! by Busted (yes I do like this song!) and Time-Sick Son of a Grizzly Bear by The Mother Hips.

The Only Exception is one of my favourite songs outside Rock Band too, and so 2012 goes for my favourite week. Rock and Roll All Nite was awesome on Guitar Hero III, but the live version featured here, while fun to play, doesn’t sound as good. I’d wish that people didn’t hate Busted as much, as I would of liked to see Year 3000 by them featuring in the game.

So, this his happening. As I post this, the writing staff have been hard at work, behind the scenes, going through all the songs Harmonix has ever licensed for Rock Band and so far… It’s turning out to be one incredibly diverse list of great content.

But it wouldn’t be an ultimate list of top songs without fan input from the readers here. So, today, we ask you, as lovers of music and Rock Band to “aide” us (Get it?) in our search for the top 100. You can pick almost any song, on disc and RBN are all in play here. There are a few rules though.

1. The song you recommend MUST export to the PS3 version of Rock Band 3. We want to, not only showcase great songs, but show the readers songs they may have missed by accident. Saying this, songs that didn’t export or didn’t get released on the PS3 aren’t going to be included… Sorry Wii users…
2. Songs that have been pulled from circulation are not going to be considered. So “Running Wild”, “Snoop’s Upside Ya Head”, “Atomic” and “Bohemian Like You” won’t be making an appearance. The same goes for Metallica.
3. Avoid songs that are good, but have bad charts. They have to be on the list for both being great to play and great to listen too (Although that is subjective).
4. Covers are acceptable too.

Don’t worry if your song doesn’t get picked for the top 100, we’ll showcase some of those that didn’t make the cut before the top 100 goes live.

Comment below and tell us one you’d like to see! Be as creative as you can, and state a valid argument for why it should be considered. The songs need to be awesome to get in the top 100, so make a good argument. Just make sure that the songs fit the criteria above before you submit!

Last week was a good week for me, with a couple of my favourite singles and a pack of one of my top artists (Fleetwood Mac if your interested). This week however, it’s the opposite. I don’t listen or play metal, and my guilty of not previewing the majority of the songs here either.

My top week has to go to 2011, for 867-5309/Jenny by Tommy Tutone is one of my favourite tracks from the platform. This might change to 2012 when I pick up the Cinderella pack on my very long back catologue of tracks to purchase.

Well this week is another mixed bag of genres, returning artists and some brilliant tracks. Simple Man is one of my all time favourite Rock Band tracks, and I’m sure I’m not alone on that account. Althrough we never saw the release of Appitie to Destruction, it was nice to see Guns N’ Roses appear in Rock Band.

Other highlights include All Star By Smash Mouth, which a lot of people will know that song from the movie Shrek. Fleetwood Mac finally got a pack too, sadly they wouldn’t get another release.

My favourite week? 2011 by a long margin. Fleetwood Mac is in my top 5 favourite bands ever, and while I was a little disspointed that a number of my favourite songs didn’t get included, (for those interested those are Everywhere, Gypsy and The Chain), Fleetwood Mac have so many strong songs that the pack is still excellent.

The last two weeks, we have had a “definite” week in terms of size and quantity. Well this week is different again, as we have some small packs and lots and lots of singles to choose from. Harmonix was always known for providing a mix of singles and packs, and this week in the past is no exception.

So what is my favourite? Well, considering I have bought only one song on the list, Freeze Frame, I’ll go for 2011. I also pick 2011 because I’ll probably pick up the Grand Funk Railroad songs down the line too.
