We are currently taking questions for Rogue Interviews. I am looking for all sorts of questions from PVP to PVE and Stupid / Silly questions for humor purposes at the end. CnD members please sound off. We will be testing these questions and the interview process soon on a willing Guineu P.. er.. Cloak-and-Dagger member :-)

There is also a pole listed here. First I would like to get everyones thoughts on the new dual spec system. As outlined in the Q&A here.

The other is pure speculation... What is the new MMO that Tigole has been pulled away from to begin developing? Keeping this discussion to the Cloak and Dagger forum here.

An investigation of your World of Warcraft account has found strong evidence that the account in question is being sold or traded. As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with Blizzard's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B which can be found here: WoW -> Legal -> End User License Agreement
and Section 8 of the Terms of Use found here:
WoW -> Legal -> Terms of Use

The investigation will be continued by Blizzard administration to determine the action to be taken against your account. If your account is found violating the EULA and Terms of Use, your account can, and will be suspended/closed/or terminated.
In order to keep this from occurring, you should immediately verify that you are the original owner of the account.

To verify your identity please visit the following webpage:
https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/login/login?service=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.worldofwarcraft.com%2Faccount%2Findex.html
Only Account Administration will be able to assist with account retrieval issues. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter, and your continued interest in World of Warcraft.

Definitly got some ideas for kitting myself out. I have been pretty bare using the stock UI with only a couple of questing mods.

Though one mod I discovered made me go WTF... was the QuestHelper. Is it just me or has that mod gotten a bit crazy. Real time sorting of my quests by speed and distance showing even the flight paths I should go on etc. Absolutely crazy. It's like playing wow in RTS mode. Definitly worth checking out if you have not already.

It turns out 5 days and I am hooked for the forseable future. Well at least till I ding 80 run all the Heroics and Raids and stuff like that. So I will probably be stopping these Articles and getting into the game a bit deeper. Hopefully I can wrap up the other site that I am developing right now and release it as well. I will be looking to Cloak-and-Dagger members to help me beta test that site a bit and get some feedback.

Since I spent most of the day on my Druid today I would instead like to point you in the directions of a pretty cool site / blog I found. http://www.warcraftecon.net/

Warcraft Econ is all about the Science of making gold. Lots of great posts on undocumented changes plus patch notes and powerleveling different trade skills. Definitly worth a look see.

Though it might have been the same person hmmm... anyway I posted my response to his comment here. The short answer if you dont want to read is... if you dont think the site is worth a dollar for however long you have been hanging around please do not donate. However please do donate a thought. Maybe an idea of what to write about (that would be awesome help) or something the site needs that its missing etc. I would value that type of feedback as much higher then a dollar.

So in summary read my response, if you like donate. If you don't like close your eyes when you reach the last paragraph and go "la la la la la la la la la la la la"

On the up side to this... not 5 minutes before I wrote that response I found out I got hired by Three Stars Media so I am no longer unemployed which means that I should be able to continue past the free trial :-p

I would have knocked off BWL but the pick up raid group fell apart... A group of 80's and a group of Mid 70's didnt feel confident enough so we ended up sitting around LFM until the raid fell apart. Oh well.

I finally did get some questing done today. Knocked about half of level 70 out. Hooray! Nothing really exciting just your standard quests. Kill this, blow up that, drop this can of experimental plague on ships X, Y and Z. I did manage to spot a cool little peice of lore in action. I am guessing a Death Knight and some Vrykul showed up at the undead fort that I had orginally landed at. The Scourge officer proceeds to tell us resistance is futile, Join or Die, etc. When we refuse he eats the souls of the soldiers preparing to kill him and then says hell be back to spit on our corpse when we dye. Here I thought that was just the Alliance kiddies that did that.

Unluckily for me the officer now wants me to go into Utgarde Keep to get some revenge for him. Even though Im quite allright and not insulted at the least by the proposed /spit.

That was enough action for me on my Rogue and decided to level my Druid a bit. Besides how do you beat completing the Stockades in Stormwind. It looks like my Druid got some love too since the last time I played him and he felt a bit more solid, though I could hardly tell you what was changed as Druid's are not really my thing. I was able to get my mount at 37 which I thought was kinda a /smack by Blizzard... not a huge one... just sort of a light pimp slap. Really whats the difference waiting from level 30 to level 40 for your mount. What the hell is the point of travel form and Aspect of the Cheetah and Ghost Wolf form, etc. I would feel more endeared to this game if Blizzard didnt change the rules every year or so. It's like the kid on the playground making up rules halfway through the game. They preached about how much content they had planned out in advance but honestly it sounds to me that someone made a bulleted check list

Go to Outland

Go to SunWell

Go to NorthRend

???

Profit!

Really? Did none of the developers go hmm wouldnt it be cool if we didnt have to completely refactor all the previous expansions, exp, rep, pvp, and pve each time we realeased a new expansion... you know as if we did some preplanning. blah! /rantoff

Anyway 4 days in. I am more impressed by the extra stuff. Acheivements, Pet and Mount Windows, Haircuts, etc... ok well im not really impressed with Haircuts... sorry but that was a dumb idea to spend time on. Looking forward to running an Instance of Utgarde Keep if theres something I can manage at level 70. Tomarrow I will try to give the new Rogue Talents the once over.

Perhaps holding out for MMO after FAIL MMO. I am going to quickly cover two of the most enticing reasons to return to WoW that I have found so far. Seeing as I am still level 70 theres quite a bit I have not explored.

It looks like Blizzard finally listened to the Majority of the Rogue's bitching on the forums. We have two new abilities that while not anything special actually copy other classes abilities to give us some more utility.

Lets start with Fan of Knives.

Fan of Knives
50 Energy
InstantRequires Melee Weapon
Instantly throw both weapons at all targets within 8 yards, causing 150% weapon damage with daggers, and 100% weapon damage with all other weapons.

If this in fact hits all targets with in 8 yards its awesome. Its just what has been needed a little bit of AOE for Rogue's that are not deep into the combat tree. Helps stop the sickening spread on damage meters that occurs when your raid group runs into AOE packs. Definitly gives us some very nice raid utility. What I would like to know however is... is there any cool down on this ability. Is it once every 5 minutes? The page says no cooldown which would be nice. I've seen several threads by enterprising Rogue's trying to find a way to AOE farm with the ability. I think I would run some newbie instances just to see everything drop dead at once.

The next ability that we received is straight from the hunters.

Tricks of the Trade
15 Energy

20 yd range

Instant

30 sec cooldown

The current party or raid member becomes the target of your Tricks of the Trade. The threat caused by your next attack and all actions taken for 6 sec afterwards will be transferred to the target. In addition, all damage caused by the target is increased by 15% during this time.

Note we have not really received anything new with either of these abilities. But the gesture is very sweet. Very sweet in deed. Just like a Misdirect or Redirect or whatever it's called for Hunters this little beauty will give us the ability to pull or help seperate mobs for a Raid Group. Or just increase the dps on the Tank and allow us to attack earlier. Pretty much anyway you look at it ... this is a great PVE utility.

Anyway I am starting to feel like John Madden, Master of the Obvious. But for the Rogues that have not played wow or even been interested in WoW since before WoTLK these new abilities will be very welcome.

-

Where to farm your gold and I don't mean China.

Osiris has a great thread thats been running since December, 22 2009 on where and how to make gold as a Rogue. I am out in the middle of no where and still exploring but quickly decided to wrap that up taking a quick journey from one side of Northrend to the other. Beatiful land scaping minus parts of the Borean Tundra which kinda stick out like a sore thumb.

Getting back to the City I decide its long past time to clean out my bank. I have tons of stockpiled crap, even an extra alt with mounds more crap stockpiled. I started the painful process of deleting epics. Sadly this is one feature Blizzard decided not to emulate from Warhammer and thats the set collection pages or even some type of trophy chest for precious weapons. Sentinmental peices like my Perditions blade and 6/8 Nightslayer. 3/4 Orginal Darkmoon Cards. Enough trinkets for a teeney bobbers charm bracelet. Dont get me wrong I didn't delete all of it. I am a pretty terrible pack rat and the moment I delete my most precious... Blizzard will implement that Trophy Case idea. Bags upon bags worth of really valuable crap... got D-E-L-E-T-E-D

Around the time that I was deleting the last peice of my Molten Core loot I saw someone organizing an MC Raid and thought for old time sakes and an acheivement why the hell not. Besides the Black Temple run the other nite was a lot of fun and very painless. This group that was composed of everything between a level 52 and a group full of 80's did great til we got to the packs of core hounds that have to die at the same time. In my head im thinking ok Raid Leader will say something here prep everyone for these guys. Newp. They pull and start killing one of them... then the aoe kicks in. But before the AOE group is dead another group is pulled. What happens next is pure lol's as we spend 10 minutes learning how to kill the packs of core hounds while 10 of them beat on the tank. 5 minutes of that to get a hunter to stop shooting at one of the hounds so we can get them all evened out before we start to AOE. /sigh

This is just the begining of the downward spiral though. Shortly after the second boss one of the raiders begins complaining about the loot being set to master looter. How he doesnt trust master loot etc. Sadly I understand the complaint he just wants it set to group loot so he can get some scraps of blue and greens to sell. However I was not concerned enough about loot in the beginning to ask the Raid Lead how it was gonna be done. Besides it's freaking level 60 loot. But obviously I underestimated how important this loot was to a very few people. After bitching for 4 more bosses ... he quits the raid and trains the next two bosses onto us, wiping the raid. Half of me wants to bitch slap him for crying about loot. The other half of me wants to shake his hand for training a raid and wiping it. Seeing as training mobs out in the world is not an easy task to do. It's just not something I get to see every day.

About this time I notice I already have the Molten Core acheivement! Bravo Blizzard and decide its time to wrap things up. Unfortunately I quickly get sucked into the acheivements page and begin running around "classic" wow plowing through low level dungeons til 4 am in the morning. Amazingly acheivements have made me care about shit that I would not have thought twice about last time around. Like the lunar festival... contemplating running my ass into enemy cities for a token and an email containing a firework. Do they not check their mail for explosives. Seriously?

Stay tuned for Day 3. Where I take a look at the new Rogue Abilities and maybe even see why there are 10 million Death Knights running around. If you like the posts and want them to keep coming past day 10 donate a buck. All proceeds go to allow Cerias to play WoW while Unemployed.

Its about 4.2 gigs so if you have a slow connection you decide to activate your trial before downloading and updating then you will end up with a 5 day free trial. Luckily I downloaded it at about 1 MB/s and got it updated to 3.0.8 in no time.

I quickly learned a couple of things about the trial. While your on the trial you cannot level past 71 youll stop just shy of leveling. This in turn causes me to not really want to do the quests. Luckily theres lots to do a whole new WORLD! *cough* ok.. so the moment I stepped foot in Northrend I began to Summon my trusty Netherdrake. FAIL!!!

Right... Cannot use a flying mount to level 77 something or other? Ok I hope on my faithful Frostwolf and make my way towards where Dalaran is supposed to be floating. Beautiful scenery all around, picked up some quests, ran past some angry locals. No big deal.. found I could easily kill level 73-74 mobs at 70.

On the way to Dalaran I learned of a couple of cool things Blizzard added. For example you have a sort of Pet Key Ring one for your mounts and one for your little fun pets. This is actually really cool as there are a lot of people that have to bank mounts or delete them... or get rid of cool pets just because there simply is not enough space. About this time I also discovered the Acheivements, they work just like the acheivements from other games. Just about everything nets you an acheivement from earning gold to completing raids. The cool part is they added alot of acheivements for "Classic" and "TBC" content. Some of it was already checked off. The game already knew which old skool dungeons I had completed which was very cool. I started off with about 1000+ acheivement points. They even had a Leeroy Jenkins acheivement but it was for killing 50 welps in 15 seconds.

When I got into the zone Dalaran floats in ... the city just up and moved itself to Northrend... not the people but the entire freaking city. I found a little teleport stone that could teleport me up. Unfortunatly no luck have to come down before you can go up. Ok... /who mage /tell BlingBlinkyWTB Port to Dalaran. Nothing to it problem solved. After I checked out the city, found the bank, slummed in the sewers, found the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Splinter I was about to callit a day when I noticed someone doing a pick up Black Temple raid. This is one of the benefits of the Acheivement system. There is a very good chance that the newer players will get to see older content which is awesome!

So I ran a BT raid. Marveled at how easy we ran through it with our group of 70s-80s and took amoment to realize how hard this content probably was the first time through it when it was being broken. The only down side to it was that we could muscle our way through. Very little of anythingneeded to be known about the fights in advance... just dont die, and tank and spank.

After that I decided to log for the nite. I had thouroughly enjoyed my first day back to WoW with out doing any quests.

If you enjoyed this article please consider donating a buck or two to the paypal account (its the button to your right and a bit farther down the page, has a pick pocket icon on it, thanks!) . However I recently was sent a nice email from Blizzard informing me that I have been selected to partake in a 10 day FREE trial. Me and every other person that has quit wow.

So I start up the free trial and im not 2 hours into playing, exploring Northrend when my girlfriend catches me and tells me I should start writing for RogueSpot again. At this point I should consider myself very lucky that my girlfriend is so supportive of my gaming habits, or concerned that she has some evil plot. I guess she does not feel very threatened by WoW seeing as she does not have a hard time getting my attention back when she wants it.

Some of you are probably saying to yourself... But Cerias... What about Warhammer... Seriously... the game sucked. Sorry but I lost interest before level 25 and was rudely reminded that I was still paying for the damn thing almost a month later when I say the charge on my bank statement. So whatever... that was short lived. RogueSpot will remain for WoW Rogues only for the forseeable future. However it did give me some cool ideas that I hope to build on with a new site im creating... but I digress...

So the purpose of this series is to do a bit more writing for RogueSpot... I do not know how long it will last and I do not know if this will even be interesting to other people. I am just going to get back into the practice of blogging ... you know the process of writing about shit that not many people care about so as to stroke your own e-peen.

With that lets move on to my first Impressions of the new content and new continent.

~CS

Nostromo n52te Review : Cerias

Well a little bit later then expected but this is part 1 of a
multipart review. How many parts... I have no idea. Consider this an
overview from my perspective. My counterpart Cardnyl Sin will be going
into the n52 in more depth and testing more rigorously. My job though
is to tell you if this pad is manageable... Happily I can report that
most of the rumors I heard about this pad being unbalanced or that the
manufacturing was not up to snuff are false. After 2 weeks of testing
my only real gripe is the thumb button that doesn't seem to be as
responsive when mashed from different angles. I have fairly large
hands which places my thumb towards the outside of button 15.
The n52 was much easier to depress at any angle then the n52te. I have
found that Adjusting the hand rest of the n52te does help with this
problem. Simply pull up on the molded hand rest and move it back a
notch. Not perfect but I have noticed that I am much more accurate on
that button now. Adjusting the hand rest is something we never even
knew the n52 was capable of... and it took Cardnyl prying it apart
before we discovered what the box meant by adjustable.

My other gripe with the n52te was the software. Surprisingly missing a
shift state is not really that noticeable. The first version of the
software we received was a pain in the ass though. Took me several
tries to get everything synced up on the pad... and I was very unsure
how everything worked. However Joseph Lu from the Belkin Team has been
very responsive getting us new versions of the software as well as
taking in our concerns which we have actually seen corrected in later
versions. This is a huge change from the n52 which was simply released
and ideas and suggestions simply met the black hole of the internet and
disappeared. I love the fact that they have a dev team actively working
on their software... granted I still think it needs some usability
polish.

Now that I have my gripes out of the way I can go into what I like
about this pad. On the software end I love being able to set my
profile for World of Warcraft or Eve Online and forget it... If I take
it over to the girlfriends house or to a Lan and plug it in it works as advertised...
recognizes the game loads the profile and your playing. I love the
onboard storage idea. I used to keep a memory key with all the n52
drivers and software and my profiles on it so I could do much the same
thing. Especially since I found that once you use the n52 you find
yourself unable to play the game as effectively without it. The same is
true for the n52te given a week or two to adapt to the keys.

The new n52te is back lit and while it looks cool as hell its not all that
necessary after you have adapted to the pad. After about a week of
using this pad you will become very used to the key placements and
looking down to make sure your on the wrong key will be a thing of the past.
In addition the force required to press the keys is much lighter. This gives
the pad a more fluid feeling to it. As if you could press a combination of keys
quicker and more accurately then before. This is not just a feeling though, the
travel of each key you pressed has also been reduced.

Overall I when I first got this pad in the mail I flipped back and forth
between the it and the n52... I still felt more comfortable on it for a good
week or so and used it for Arena matches in World of Warcraft. After the
acclimation period this pad was just as deadly as the my old n52.

Stay tuned as we are talking to Belkin and may be able to get some
n52te's to users on the Forums. I am not sure how we will pick and
choose but I imagine a contest of some type. Next up... Cardnyls
indepth review which may take a bit longer to get out as he has been
talking back and forth with belkin and seeing improvements. If you have
recently purchased an n52te join us on the forums. We have at least
one good discussion going for those testing the n52te.

I remember since the early days of raiding the guild event planning was done through some guild or 3rd party website. This addon allows you to manage upcoming raids and player events directly through the game. It syncs everyones data and the guild leader / officer does not need to be on for updates to get through.

It allows you to setup raids with role based signup. This is perfect for when you need DPS but don't really care who the hell is wacking the mob... just that they wack is hard... and wack is fast. lol.

Even if you dont have a guild just a group of friends that want to coordinate nights to run Kara and other instances this is a great mod. It can be configured so that any player can add an event from a 25 man raid to their birthday.

Heres a quick list of new features in Group Calendar 4 from the curse website:

FEATURE: New networking code designed for better reliability and scalability

FEATURE: Role-based signups for more flexibility in forming groups

FEATURE: You can now edit your own events and get tradeskill cooldown messages while on another realm or faction

FEATURE: Whisper-based UI allows players not running GC to view and sign up for events

FEATURE: Backups (both automatic and manual) of your event data to help recover if something goes wrong

FEATURE: Circled dates and times for events you're attending are now color-coded: yellow for pending, green for confirmed and blue for standby

FEATURE: Event templates remember up to the last five variations on an event type (you can schedule "Karazhan Alpha" and "Karazhan Beta" and it will remember your setting preferences for both)

FEATURE: /cal slash command added -- same as /calendar, just shorter, and /calendar still works too

FEATURE: /cal command now shows help by default (use "/cal show" to show the GUI)

FEATURE: New '/cal history numdays' command to set the number of days to keep events

FEATURE: History length is stored in the auto-config data so it can be set for the entire guild at once

FEATURE: MD5 hash protection to detect damaged event or attendance updates

FEATURE: Date and time settings are verified by comparing clocks with other users on the network

FEATURE: Players can now sign up for events as a standby

FEATURE: Event titles now auto-complete

FEATURE: Synch period is now two minutes long instead of five

FEATURE: Database version info in About tab now shows the total number of databases known

FEATURE: Event attendance list now shows separate totals for accepted and standby players

FEATURE: Dungeons with a 7 day reset cycle now only show the next reset instead of the next four

FEATURE: All localization files are UTF8 and all escape sequences have been replaced by their real characters

FEATURE: /cal reset now resets only the current character, with a new parameter of "realm" to reset the databases for the realm

FEATURE: Tradeskill reminder messages are smaller

FEATURE: Brilliant Glass added to tradeskill cooldown reminders

RogueSpot has moved!

Welcome to RogueSpot's new home. This is very nice if you run a lot of groups
and find yourself not wanting to open chests with auto loot on but do like to auto loot
your pick pocket window.

/script SetAutoLootDefault(1)
/cast Pick Pocket
/in 1 /script SetAutoLootDefault(0)

The /in 1 section of the macro adds a pause telling it to wait 1 second before turning
auto loot off. With out this you turn auto loot off before you can finish looting the
pick pocket loot window.

This is another find off the wowwiki.com useful macros page.

It is not the most efficient method and takes up a convenient spot on one of my side hot bars. A quick search of any add on site will reveal more then one solution for opening lock boxes. Easy Unlock is my current favorite as it works on your trade window as well as in your inventory simply by right clicking on the boxes you want to unlock.

If you do not already have your lockpicking maxed for your current level you should be ashamed. You are also loosing money. I know what you are thinking... you are only losing money when someone tips you. However if you have a quick macro that says:

/2 Opening lock boxes on top of Org Bank!

Hit that every time you swing through the city and the tips really start to add up. Not only have I made over 1000g off a single junk box I pick pocketed off a level 67 mob. I have also been tipped upwards of 20g for picking around 15 lock boxes. It is very common to receive tips ranging from 50s to 2g per box. Generosity of the client usually depends on what they get in their box but you never know.

If you are opening lock boxes as often as possible then you should definitely be using this mod.

Nitrana / Ming

About a week ago I was writing a rant on world of ming. I decided not to publish that initially. Why send him more traffic. However I guess I am not the only one Ming has touched off recently. Nitrana of WSG fame has written a blog / rant on World of Ming.

The blog is in response to a MySpace Music song made by the character Shaunconnery. Absolutely hilarious. Even if your Ming's fav fan boy you should listen to this song just for a good laugh. After all the hate he's been getting lately I don't think I could write it up any better. Please humbly accept these links to the lollerink!
