How are we almost at the end of April? I'm actually doing fine but I feel exhausted by this year already. Trying to straddle the line between staying informed and staying sane can do that to you though. I've gotten back into hand lettering and am still progressing with my language learning. I'm also still deeply invested in curbing my consumerism. I'm just more interested in sustainability practices than acquiring more stuff that I don't need and I'm vibing with people who are on the same wavelength.

I really admire the style of Jeanne Damas, model and founder of the fashion brand Rouje. A combination of feminine polish meets understated elegance meets laidback ease, her style relies on elevated basics and subtle details. And for this reason, she always looks effortlessly well put together. This chic outfit consisting of a crewneck tee, jeans, boots, and a trench coat is a play on a "style uniform" she relies on as a formula for getting dressed in under 10 minutes. I love this timeless outfit because it puts the emphasis on quality, fit and versatility. I also like the clean understated aesthetic. Snow Day 2026

It's been one heck of a winter in NYC. Earlier this week, we had a blizzard that dropped almost 21 inches of snow in the city. As someone who grew up in New York, I remember winters like this with lots of snow so I'm not really phased. We had snowpocalypse in 2015 (see my photos from that) but that was nothing compared to this recent storm. I've said it before that I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with snow in the city. It's like magical and even kind of romantic when it's falling and frosting buildings and streets but the reality of having to navigate through the dirty black slush it's destined to become is quite the opposite.

Anyhow the snow makes for an ideal subject which I've always liked photographing so come along with me on the walk on I took this Monday morning in lower Manhattan. It was actually quite peaceful and enjoyable especially Brooklyn Bridge. Big props to Mayor Mamdani and the NYC sanitation department for clearing the snow promptly and doing a better job than they did in January. It's pretty obvious they learned and improved which is great for the city. Be sure to scroll al the way to end to see a little peek of the ugly reality of snow in New York. It's not all that pretty and trust me, this isn't even tall hat bad. I've been posting snow videos on my Instagram all week. Have you ever seen snow covered cherry blossoms?

We're currently in the midst of an extremely cold winter in NYC. As a lifelong New Yorker who remembers winters like this here, it doesn't really bother me. What is bothering me is all the atrocities happening in this country. As a POC, I don't have any illusions about America because it's never really been a good place for those us descended from immigrants. It wasn't so long ago that Asian people were being attacked and killed. My life is fine but right now I'm just trying to strike a balance between staying informed and staying sane. Please let me know if you are as well. Ignoring it is not the answer. Not everyone has that privilege. And something doesn't have to happen to you for you to care about it.

I started double-cleansing in 2014 after watching a show which featured Park Shin Hye talking about how it was an indispensable step in her skincare routine and I also learned that it was a common practice in most Asian skincare regimens. It's become a common practice for me as well.

The double cleanse process usually involves using an oil or balm cleanser followed by cleansing with a traditional creamy or foaming cleanser. The first step gently removes makeup, sunscreen, dirt and excess sebum on your face while also exfoliating your dead skin cells while the second step ensures your skin is completely cleansed, purified and ready for the products you apply onto your face afterwards. One of the first balm cleansers I tried was Banila Co Clean It Zero Original Cleansing Balm and it's been at least a few years since I've last used it.
