• Call the front desk of the hotel rather than the reservation system for information about the hotel and reserving your room. They have a more accurate and up-to-date information regarding what rooms are available and may be able to offer you some sort of upgrade or room location preference.
• Find out what type of view your room will have. Try to make sure it doesn’t overlook a parking lot or a freeway.
• Try to reserve a room in the most quiet location possible. For example, away from elevators, meeting rooms and busy areas in the corridors.
• Check whether the rooms have a mini-fridge and/or microwave.

EXTRAS

• If you’re planning on using the internet, find out if the hotel has free wi-fi, and if not how much it will be. Some locations charge a fee for a faster, upgraded connection.
• Ask if they have the Movies On Command or Movies On Demand service. For a fee, you can watch movies that are still in the theater or not yet released on video.

DINING

• If you plan on ordering room service, find out if the hotel even offers this service and from what hours. Some hotels only offer a very limited selection after 10pm. Check to see if this is the case. If so, see if the concierge or front desk have numbers and menus to nearby restaurants that will deliver to the hotel.
• Ask how many restaurants are on the location. Do they serve full meals or just appetizers?
• What is the extent of their concierge services. If possible, book a room in the hotel’s concierge levels. Most concierge level rooms offer additional amenities such as a complimentary continental breakfast and nightly hors d’oeuvres.
