The annual fundraiser is a celebration of food and wine from the Pacific Northwest. The Oregon Coast Aquarium is preparing for its 4th annual Jellyfish Jubilee; A Celebration of Food and Wine Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 6 – 9 pm. A Celebration of Food and Wine will fill the Aquarium with the aromas, tastes and sounds of exceptional Northwest cuisine, wines, live music and a silent auction benefiting the Aquarium’s animal care, exhibits and education programs. The all-inclusive event includes the area’s finest culinary establishments and regional wineries offering their most popular specialties and desserts in a feast for all the senses, celebrating the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. The music will be lively Caribbean steel drums played by Terry Baber, "Northwest Panman," who plays Calypso, Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley and more. "This is the most beautiful time of year on the coast," said Carrie Lewis, Aquarium President and CEO. "The Jellyfish Jubilee is an opportunity to see the Aquarium in a different setting while enjoying a summer evening with extraordinary food and exquisite wine." Lewis said this year’s event will be more exciting than ever, with elaborate staging to create a fun and festive atmosphere. Chefs and vintners have been anticipating the opportunity to share their passion for extraordinary food and wine during this unique event surrounded by the shimmering waters of the Aquarium. Participating restaurants include Bay 839, Newport Shilo Inns Restaurant, The Starfish Grill, Savory Café & Pizzeria, La Maison Café, Local Ocean Seafoods, South Beach Grill, Ch’Boogie, Georgie’s Beachside Grill, Chinook Winds Casino and Restaurant Beck. Desserts & Coffee are provided by Tsunami Chocolates, Bojomama’s Toffee & Baking Co., Indulge Sweets and Fins Coffee. Participating wineries include Eden Vale Winery, Sokol Blosser, Palotai Vineyard and Winery, Pyrenees Vineyard & Cellar, Oak Knoll Winery and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly. This year the silent auction will offer more items in varied price ranges. Tickets for admission to the event are $100 and available online at aquarium.org and at the door.
