Michael, what happened?

Talk about duality.
This man inspired me so much when I was younger.

On countless occasions he made me and the people around me so happy. Later he pulled a 180 on us and became one of the freakiest people on the planet. WTF?

Its hard to look past the allegations and the rumors and the second hand stories. Its impossible to look past what he did to himself physically. Still, its undeniable that he was a musical gift to us all.

Jason found this ad yesterday. Its unclear whether this spot is ‘real’ or just spec work. Regardless, the band was never notified of this. Yo if this ish iz real muthuf**kaz betta pay a foo.

The blokes at the UK label that released this told me to “make it MENTAL mate.” – hence the name: “Open Your Eyes (ArK47’s Mental Mix)” I don’t think they found that funny… so they renamed it “Open Your Eyes (Data Riot Mix)” on the UK release. Pffft. [itunes link]

This is a very simple Ableton setup used to motivate me to get back into some live fiddling.

My motivation to make music has never stopped… however, my excitement about it has definitely gone down in the last year.

Recently my friend kiddphunk re-ignited that passion in me. I have a few new ideas I want to try out in the next few months and this video is just a little warmup.

I’m excited to start working with the U.S.E family again. Its been more than 4 years since the last remix I did for them. Jason and the whole crew have always been really supportive of me even when I’m totally down on my work and want to throw it in the trash. If you are in Seattle and don’t mind people puking rainbows and unicorns all over you go see them play at the all-new Crocodile.

Statistically speaking… every human in the pacific northwest owns U.S.E’s first album from 2004. Oh, and they are very BIG in Japan.
