Baby Ryan Zachary's Christening...

We will Celebrate Our Dearest Ryan Zachary’s Christening this 21st of April 2012 at our Local Parish Church, and at the same time me and my partner will get Married in front of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. set up an exhibit at its Casa Gorordo Museum to explain the Semana Santa house tradition explained by the Gorordo family, former owners of the Casa Gorordo. It also shows the Passus tradition in Bantayan town. It will run until April 15.

The Casa Gorordo Museum of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) will hold its Semana Santa house tradition on April 3 and 6, which are Holy Tuesday and Good Friday, respectively.

This house tradition features the use of Casa Gorordo’s carrozas and life-size image of the Nazarene and Veronica in the Holy Tuesday and Good Friday processions of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

It begins with the installation of pasos (tableaus of life-size images depicting scenes of Christ’s passion and death) and decoration of the carrozas (carriages) on which they are set up in the morning. These pasos will be included in the processions of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral in Cebu City’s downtown district. The procession on Holy Tuesday started at 5:00 pm; and on Good Friday at 4:30 pm.

According to Dr. Jocelyn Gerra, executive director of Culture and Heritage of RAFI, this had been a religious observance of the Gorordo family, former owners of the Casa Gorordo, which was adopted by the museum as part of RAFI’s advocacy to conserve intangible heritage traditions of the family.

Casa Gorordo Museum’s curator, Florencio A. Moreño II, said that one can see in the Semana Santa house tradition a remarkable dynamism between the family, later, the museum, and the larger community that it belongs to. He added that by engaging the public through this long-held tradition, Casa Gorordo Museum makes itself a living museum.

An exhibit entitled “Semana Santa: A Casa Gorordo Tradition,” located at the museum’s chapel, was launched last March 22 to anticipate the holding of the house tradition and to explain it to the public. It also highlights the Passus tradition in Bantayan town which has become a prominent tourist attraction.

The exhibit will run until April 15.

Semana Santa is one of the four house traditions of the Casa Gorordo Museum. The other three are Sinug sa Casa Gorordo in January; Pista ni San Juan in June; and the displaying of the Gorordo Belenin December.

Culture & Heritage is a focus area of RAFI, believing that a confident community begins with a strong sense of identity. Its other focus areas are Integrated Development, Micro-finance & Entrepreneurship, Leadership & Citizenship, and Education.

Craving for ” Pinoy Leche Flan Dessert “…

Long time no post in here, it’s been quite some time since the last time i posted something here…

So i decided, i’ll go to the Grocery Later and Buy Us Ingredients and make some Pinoy Leche Flan! Wooohoooo!

Doesn’t sound easy for someone trying to make this Pinoy Delicacy or Dessert Only for his 2nd time (1st time i tried it – Success!)

As we all know, Leche Flan is one of the most Favorited/Most Popular Dessert in the Philippines, and this one Dad will try to make ‘em… I’ve been craving to eat Leche Flan that i’ll be making my self…

So Let us all Begin!

Here’s how i will make my very Own Leche Flan ala Daddy Ron! xD

Ingredients:

12 Egg Yolks (Egg Yellow) – Fresh!
2 Cups or Cans of Condensed milk (250 ml)
5 Cans Small Evaporated Milk (Makes your Leche Flan more Fluffy)
2 Cups White sugar (Fine)
2 Tablespoon Vanilla (for added Flavor / Scent lang naman!)
1 Small Bar of Butter

You will also need the following:
Llanera
Steamer
Strainer
Some Utensils – Mixing Ladle

Making the Caramelized Syrup (Top Part of the Leche Flan or can be used as Sauce):

In a stainless Llanera, dissolve 1 spoonfull of Butter, 3/4 cups of sugar, add 1/4 cup water over medium heat, do not stir, just swirl the Llanera gently (use Cooking Gloves to avoid Burns lol), caramelize in low heat if you don’t want it burnt.

Pale brown means sweeter and too dark means bitter. When you have achieved the desired color, pour the syrup in the llanera and make sure every side is covered.

Making the Custard:

Combine all the of Ingredients (egg yolk, condensed milk, evaporated milk, sugar and vanilla) In a mixing bowl. Use a Mixing Ladle and Gently but thoroughly mix all Ingredients to prevent bubbles from forming. (It’s not pleasant to have Bubbles in your Leche Flan). Remove any solids by using a strainer.

Then Pour the mixture in the Llanera (Caramelized Sugar ready – one where you’ve poured your Ready made Caramel) and cover it with an aluminum foil, so that the moisture from the steam won’t come in the pan as it will become watery.

Steam Cook for about 40-45 minutes, or until knife inserted in the center comes out clean (i Use toothpick haha).

Remove the Llanera and let it cool at room temperature. Then refrigerate for atleast an hours before serving/eating.

Now, To unmold the Leche Flan – stick a knife around the edges of the Llanera and carefully invert it unto a Platter.
This recipes makes about 4- 5 Llanera of Delectable and MouthWatering Leche Flan.

So there you have it! I mean there’s how i’ll make it! haha…

Make Cebu as one of the New 7 Wonders Cities

Remember when we were too hyped to vote for the underground river in Palawan? Well, here is another one that you surely won’t dare to miss.

Our Dear Queen City of the South “Cebu City” is nominated to become one of the New 7 Wonders Cities of the World. In line with the nominees for the Southeast Asian and Oceania are 6 more cities from the Philippines. Well, I’m really not trying to brag here, but Cebu is cited to be the strong contender for this competition.

I can say that looking at the other nominees from the different parts of the world; it really is a tough one. But this country in general is not known to be the Text Capital of the World for nothing. Let us use our strong influence in voting for our beloved City.
