Classism, racism, sexism only separate.
We need not to recognize hate.
We need to recognize that we all have one fate.
Death is the fate of us all, the deadline, the end, the fall,
Of us, as human beings,
Taking, raping and wasting like kings.
Fat, lazy and dumb,
Acting like babies sucking our thumb.
Calling for mommy and biting her hand.
So disconnected from the land,
beneath our feet and artificial ground
Dig down deep and Mother Earth is found
Being disrespectful everyday,
Cutting down forests just for a pay,
With fake invisible money,
Given out from those who exploit and think its funny.
They don't see death and destruction as bad,
They only wonder if they can turn profit on this new fad.
From the skinny jeans to the nike pumps,
Consumerism, junk food and cheap humps.
This is the ultimate wish
Of modern day people who are EXTREMELY SELFISH,
And depressed from lack of love and too much pie
Little do they know, they soon will DIE.

The SLO Parks and Recs along with RRM and Wormhoudt have secretly decided to remove our skate community designed tube. See it here...

They said, "the small wave pipe structure had several safety issues that could not be resolved in a practical cost efficient way." Specifically, "the primary safety issues included:

· The low height of pipe and the potential for skaters to hit their head entering the structure.

· The vertical change in elevation and potential for falling from the upper deck to the lower deck at then ends (openings) of the pipe structure."

SH~ Surfrider's 80-plus chapters are the picture of grass-roots power on the hoof. If you could rally all of the chapters and all of Surfrider's substantial resources for one year, and commit to one single effort, what would it be?
JM~ The single largest issue that our chapters are facing in local areas is plastics. We have a large focus on wave preservation, beach access, water quality, etc., and in any given place each of those have differing values of local importance. For example if you live in Maine the number one issue is beach access because more than 80 percent of the coast is private ... you can't get to the beach or waves. The issue facing ALL communities is the plastic we're letting go down our storm drains and into our lineups, oceans and beaches.

SH~ Leave us with a simple way for surfers to improve their spot.
JM~ It's been suggested that the new localism is to "own" your local beach. That is, stand up when it's under threat, clean it up when it's dirty, and show up when you're asked to. This isn't complex. Next time you paddle out, pick up a few pieces of trash. That one or two pieces are literally one or two pieces that won't be floating around the ocean and probably killing fish and birds. Start there. Be a real local, "own" your local beach.

Rootamentalist and my bro, Vince Felix, is back on board.

Vince wont tell you how Rad he is so I will. Vince, excells at everything Rootamental: Surfing, Skateboarding, and Art. He has a creative mind and can bring his ideas to reality. He is a radical athletic and artistic bad ass Venturan from the coastal town of Ventura, California.

History: Vince was riding his motorcycle on PCH when he was slammed by a car crippling him from doing what he does best~shreding any board he gets on.

Case in point ~ see radical bottom turn pic to the left. This photo, circa 2005, is recently published in central coast chronicals. It was taken before his life changing accident. Prevented from surfing all boards he has been shreding with his pin striping art.

Pericu: Keepers of a 30,000-year old secret

The Pericú are best known for their maritime orientation, harvesting fish, shellfish, and marine mammals from the waters of the southern Gulf of California. Terrestrial resources such as agave, the fruit of cacti, small game, and deer were also important. Agriculture was not practiced.

The Pericú were one of the few aboriginal groups on the California coasts to possess watercraft other than tule balsas, making use of wooden rafts and double-bladed paddles. Nets, spears or harpoons, darts, and bows and arrows were tools for procuring fish and meat. Bags, baskets, and gourds were used for carrying, since pottery was not made. The requirements for shelter and clothing were minimal, although the women wore skirts of fiber or animal skins and both sexes adopted various forms of adornment.

Happy Earth Day
From Earth, Anvil, and Rootamental~those of us that care about her...

Earth Day was founded by grass roots groups and policy makers, forty years ago, in response to the environmental problems of the 60s. Proclaimed as a day to nurture neighbor and nature the first, less heard of, Earth Day took place on the first day of spring, March 20, 1970. Later the United Nations sanctioned that the first day of spring be recognized as Earth Day. To this day, each year, the tradition continues and the peace bell rings at the first moment of spring.

The second and most recognized Earth Day took place across America on April 22nd in 1970. Organized by grass roots volunteers and supported by government agencies, an estimated 20 million Americans gathered for rallies, teach-ins, speeches, and publicity gimmicks.
To countless participants, that first Earth Day was a turning point in their lives which they remember to this day with awe and reverence.

It will take a united, conscious, intentional effort by the people to create an “ecologically sound and economically prosperous” community. Share your message, cause, product or service that addresses the environment, our quality of life, the community or economy. Be an example of how this is working now and where it can go.
