Summer is cranking up some great Roswell, GA events that are fun for the whole family. Be sure to check out the Roswell ‘Alive After 5′ Series happening as the sun sets all summer long on the streets of Historic Roswell.
Plum Tree Village, Heart of Roswell Park, and Galerie boutique are the venues for bands and live music this summer. Every night will feature a variety of acoustic, country, and rock bands at the various venues, so make plans to visit each to discover your favorite bands.

Have a bite to eat at one of the wonderful restaurants like The Fickle Pickle Cafe which serves up a delicious chicken salad croissant. Then shop at a unique shop like Galerie Matilda–a charming shop full of whimsical art and custom creations that will please youngsters and adults alike.

Frolic with the Frogs at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area

The Frog Frolic will take place at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area

If you’re ready to spend some quality time with Mother Nature, there’s a great opportunity to do just that at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area on April 27th. They will be having what they call “Frog Frolic.”

The Sope Creek area in Sandy Springs is the place to be for some fun (and sweets) around the campfire, a night hike and time to listen out for frogs and other nocturnal wildlife on the trail around Sibley Pond.

If you decide to attend, don’t forget to wear sturdy walking shoes and bring a jacket. While it’s warming up during the day, it can be chilly at night! Also on your list should be water, a flashlight and insect repellent.

If you are up for the event, reservations are required, so call 678-538-1200 to make yours. It’s free but space is limited.

He likes to be petted, but finds new people and situations a bit scary and needs time and patience to adjust. For right now, it would be best for Iggy to be adopted with his brother Boomer or his mother Michelle, but as he adjusts to life at Good Mews and becomes more comfortable, he will probably be fine with another feline companion.

Polly is very outgoing and demands attention. She loves all people and loves being held. All you want to do is hold her in your arms and hug her. Zoe and several other cats were rescued from a situation that started off with good intentions, but then quickly got out of hand. Someone rescued cats that were about to be euthanized at animal control but then it got to be way many cats for 1 person to care for. The situation was brought to our attention and with the help of other rescues, all of the cats were placed. We don’t know the history of these cats. Most probably had a home at some point and ended up at animal control. They are all very loving kitties that are just so happy to be alive and on their way to a new home. Zoe is a gorgeous long-haired beauty with a feisty personality. She is very sweet and enjoys being held, but will let you know when she is through with getting attention! She is a big couch potato and loves her quiet time, napping on the couch. She also has a playful side and enjoys chasing the laser light and swatting at wand toys. She would do great in a quiet home where she will be treated like a princess!

Big Boy came to Good Mews when his guardian had to enter a nursing home. This was very confusing for Big Boy because he had such a loving home for so long! But we are glad that Big Boy was able to come to Good Mews and we promised him we would find him a new loving home. Big Boy is a senior, but you wouldnt know it! I often see him playing and wrestling with some of our younger kitties! This beautiful boy loves people and would make a wonderful companion. He would do well in a home with other cats, but he would also be happy as an only cat, as long as you promise to play with him!

DMB will come to Atlanta later this Spring

Atlanta has been the home of many a musician over the years, including Usher, Whitney Houston and many rappers. It is no wonder, then, that it has become one of the biggest places for concerts not only for those, but many others who flock to the area to contribute to the vibrant music scene.

Star 94 Atlanta is sponsoring many concerts this Spring and Summer with big names in the industry.

What if I told you it was free to get expertise and that you don’t have to leave your home to do it? Yup, it’s all online and free over at Decorology. Take a look at the magazine spreads they display, along with helpful tips. Bet you’ll hold onto at least one!

House tour! A vintage but minimal Toronto apartment

This apartment, inhabited by young entrepreneur Nikole, used to be a “bachelor apartment.” In the beginning of the 20th century, bachelor apartments were created in old houses for young, unmarried professionals who were just starting out. The space is just 350 sq. ft., but the amazing light and bright walls keep the space airy.

Nikole used to work as a pastry chef, so her kitchen and amazing array of tools is one of the most important areas of her home. You can see her shop, full of nifty tools, here.

I don’t usually go for accent walls, but I like this charcoal gray ones. It keeps the space from being overly feminine.

Fresh and inspiring home offices

As some of you know, I work as a freelance web designer. Working for oneself definitely has it’s perks, but with it comes a lot more responsibilities, as you are accountable for everything. I am always extremely busy, which I enjoy, but last week I was drowning, and spent most nights up until 3:30 AM to meet my deadlines.

Paramount to working from home is having a home office and work space that is extremely comfortable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Everyone has different work styles, and the furnishings and layout you choose will depend on that and the type of work you do.

The Race for the Cure is about the journey to health for cancer sufferers

Celebrate breast cancer survivors and remember those who have lost their lives to this disease with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on May 12th in Atlanta.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation of the Greater Atlanta Area made it possible to provide services to 151,759 people in the local area last year alone and currently provides $2.2 million in funding to 22 breast cancer support service programs and breast cancer screenings.

Founded by Susan G. Komen’s sister Nancy Brinker in 1982 to remember Susan, the organization has become the world’s largest breast cancer organization and has raised more than $1.9 billion since its founding.

Imagine a burger MUCH larger than this

When I say the word “inventions,” what do you think of? Maybe some new gadget, a Snuggie…You know, the kinds of things you would see on the show Shark Tank. What if I told you that there is an invention from right here in Georgia that involves a hamburger? “But we already have those,” you say. Read on:

Johns Creek resident Robby Ciaciura has given hamburgers a makeover, and a big one at that. Ciaciura invented what he calls a “sailing grate,” which makes burgers more of an art form. The sailing grate was invented in answer to the problem of flipping large burgers (and I do mean LARGE). He invented the grilling accessory, which is composed of two grates that can enclose two large hamburger patties and filling. The pivots help to flip the burgers.

Buyers will have a choice between an 18 inch set of grates – which holds a 10-pound burger (yes, I said 10-pounds) that can feed 30 people – and a 12-inch set for a group of 12. Robby hopes to have them available to the public by September and plans to market to the Braves.
