Jimmy Kimmel celebrated his 20th anniversary as ABC's late-night host early, signing a three-year contract extension for "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

"After two decades at ABC, I am now looking forward to three years of what they call 'quiet quitting,'" Kimmel quipped in a statement Tuesday.

His show debuted in January 2003, and the new deal means he will remain with it into the 2025-26 season — giving him a generous window to make comedic hay out of politicians, who are favorite monologue targets, and the 2024 presidential election.

Woman Files to Dismiss Lawsuit Against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears

A woman who accused comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears of coercing her and a sibling into filming sexually explicit skits when they were children filed a request Tuesday to dismiss the claim.

The first page of the filing, obtained by NBC News, asked the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California to dismiss her lawsuit with prejudice, which means it could not be filed again. No reason was given on the first page for the move to withdraw.

The woman, identified in the original claim as Jane Doe, did not immediately respond to a request for comment but in a statement issued to TMZ on Tuesday said "we are glad that we can all put this behind us."

Maren Morris Says She Doesn't Feel Comfortable Going to CMA Awards Amid Brittany Aldean Feud

Maren Morris doesn't know if it's in her bones to attend the 2022 CMA Awards.

The "80s Mercedes" singer got candid about whether or not she will be attending the Nov. 9 awards show after she and Jason Aldean's wife, Brittany Aldean, engaged in an online dispute. Morris' verdict? Her attendance is still up in the air.

Country Singer Luke Bell's Cause of Death Revealed

More details are coming to light about Luke Bell's death.

Nearly one month after Bell was reported missing, an autopsy report and supporting toxicology screening confirmed that the country singer died of an accidental fentanyl overdose.

Bell was found unresponsive by a passerby in a parking structure in Tucson, Ariz., according to the Sept. 19 reports obtained by E! News. Drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.

The Illinois Lottery announced early Wednesday morning that the massive jackpot was claimed with less than a week left before a critical deadline in the state.

"The prize was shared by two individuals, who agreed to split the prize if won – and they stayed true to that word," the lottery said in a release. "The winners wish to remain anonymous, and the Illinois Lottery is unable to share any information about the winners except to say that they must be absolutely 'over the moon' with their Mega Millions win."

Woman Accused of Pushing 3-Year-Old Into Lake Michigan Near Navy Pier Charged: CPD

A woman accused of pushing a 3-year-old boy into Lake Michigan near Navy Pier now faces felony charges days after the incident, police said Wednesday.

Victoria Moreno, 34, of Des Plaines, was charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery of a child under the age of 13, according to Chicago police.

She is expected to appear in court for a bond hearing Wednesday.

The winners of the $1.34 billion Mega Millions lottery ticket, purchased at a suburban Chicago gas station, have come forward, Illinois Lottery officials confirmed Wednesday, just days before a critical claiming deadline arrived.

The Illinois Lottery allows winners to request anonymity if the prize is greater than $250,000, which certainly applies in this case.

18-Year-Old Cold Case Murder Mystery Sees Significant Leads

Even in a city that's suffered so many murders, the killing of Kevin Clewer seemed unusually violent to veteran Chicago Homicide Detective Lt. William Svilar, who has sadly seen it all.

"Just a cold-blooded murder," Svilar said, describing the case. "There's no evidence to suggest that [Clewer] fought back. All the wounds are in his back."

On March 23, 2004, Clewer, 31, was out with his friends, bar hopping on North Halsted Street in the Lake View community. Police reports say he met a stranger, and they went back to Clewer's place nearby. The next day when Clewer did not show up at work, his father drove to his apartment and found his son's body on the floor.

Not 1, But 2 Illinois Lottery Winners Claimed the $1.34B Mega Millions Prize

Not one but two winners came forward to finally claim the $1.34 billion Mega Millions lottery prize nearly two months after the highly-anticipated drawing led to a winning a ticket sold in Illinois.

The winners of the jackpot purchased their ticket at a suburban Chicago gas station.

"These winners are now in the enviable position of deciding what to do with their newfound fortune," Illinois Lottery Director Harold Mays said in a statement. "They stopped into the Speedway in Des Plaines and grabbed a Mega Millions ticket while they were there. That turned out to be an absolutely life changing decision when a $3 line of Mega Millions with Megaplier turned into a $1.34 billion jackpot win."

National Daughters Day is Sept 25!

BTC Agents,

If you've seen me and my daughters, you know that I've not only accepted but embraced all that it means to be a girl dad. My girls want to dress up like Elsa and Anna from "Frozen" and wear those outfits to see the movie? I'm excited to bring them. They want to go to a Polar Express story reading on a train? I'll be wearing my pjs too. When one day they decide we're pretending to be scientists, then bakers, then superheroes, then princesses, I'm happy to give them whatever they need to believe that they can do anything. I've learned that the best thing that I can do as a father is give my girls the freedom to express themselves and the support to help them feel confident in their choices.

Diamond Tip of the Month:

So this month my tip is to get your kids (or grandkids) presents! I know you might be thinking, hold the phone there Adam, I don't need another holiday to worry about buying my kids gifts. But, this is different. I want you to really think about what your daughters are interested in. Do they seem to like art? What about music? Are they really interested in science? Or, if your daughters are like mine and can't seem to choose what they love, what is a new activity they might want to try?

Encouraging our children to pursue their interests is incredibly important, not because they necessarily have to build up skill in that area and carry that throughout their lives -- although that is possible. The real purpose behind encouraging their interests is allowing them to grow in the confidence that they can try new things, develop an experimental mindset and know that they will be supported as they do so.

McHenry Gem Spotlight:

My hidden gem spotlight for this month, for all daddies and daughters, is Stade's Farm and Market! A great place for a father-daughter date, filled with things to do and experiences to have together. My recommendation is to start the day thinking about a fun recipe you'd like to make for lunch or dinner, make a list of ingredients, and work together to find all you need at the market. Then spend time looking at the animals, get some ice cream from the creamery, and if you go after Sept. 10, enjoy all the fun activities at the Shades of Autumn Fall Festival! When you get back home you'll have a fun meal to cook together and enjoy as well as memories from the day to talk about. "It's a great time for both dad and daughter (although I can only make this claim for younger daughters, as I have no experience yet when it comes to being a teenage girl dad. Good luck out there, soldiers).

Featured Recipe:

Peanut butter and grape balls(peanut butter and jelly)

1 cup crunchy peanut butter

½ cup honey

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup milk powder

1 cup red or green grapes

2 cups Finely Chopped Peanuts

Combine the first 4 ingredients together. Once combined place 1 tbsp of the mixture in your hand and flatten it out. Place 1 grape in the center then fold up the sides. Roll the ball in between your hands and set aside. Continue until all the grapes and peanut butter mixture are gone then roll each one in the chopped peanuts.

Kids prep:

Measure ingredients
Wash and dry the grapes
Mix together the ingredients
Form the balls

After making headlines with comments that the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. is over, President Joe Biden is being taken to task by doctors who say that such language could paint an overly-rosy picture of the situation as the fall and winter months approach.

"The pandemic is over," Biden said during an appearance on "60 Minutes" over the weekend. "We still have a problem with COVID, and we're still doing a lot of work on it, but the pandemic is over."

While COVID cases, hospitalizations and deaths are on a downward trajectory across much of the U.S., Chicago's top doctor says that more context is needed at a critical juncture in the fight against the virus.

New COVID Variants Gain Ground as BA.5 Cases Slow, CDC Says

While the omicron subvariant BA.5 has been the dominant strain of COVID in the United States for several months, there are at least four other subvariants starting to gain ground in recent weeks.

According to the latest estimates released by the CDC on Tuesday, the BA.5 subvariant is still responsible for 84.8% of COVID cases in the United States.

That subvariant, which has been the dominant strain of COVID in the U.S. since early July, peaked at nearly 90% of cases at one point, but has slowly begun to decline as at least four other types of omicron begin to circulate in the population.

"We just don't have any data on this [yet], essentially giving two vaccines in one shot — but biologically, I just wouldn't expect the side effects, severity or the safety profile of the shots to be different from the current mRNA vaccines and boosters," Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and member of an independent advisory group to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, told CNBC's Make It.
