Some sad but not unexpected news…

Austereo National Head of Content Guy Dobson has been quick to move on the underperforming Melbourne show. Today Dobson said Triple M’s Pete & Myf breakfast show will finish up on air on Friday 31 July 2009. “Triple M breakfast hasn’t resonated with our audience, so we’re going to work on creating a brand new breakfast show that is different to everything else on offer in this city and one that is aligned with the Triple M brand,” Dobson said.

In a hint of things to come that suggests that the scuttlebutt about NRL commentator Matthew Johns taking over the breakfast show in Sydney may be correct, Dobson said, “Triple M Football and our ‘Music That Rocks’ format have been successful across the weekends and workday. “This is a strategic move to give Triple M a platform for success.” Dobson said it was a business imperative for Austereo to have a strong Triple M station that is clearly differentiated from the Melbourne FM leader, Fox FM.

Rove is off for 4 weeks following this Sunday’s episode. The show returns August 16th
Tickets for August/September and the Katy Perry Performance in August are now available from Rove Daily
The 7pm Project from Roving Enterprises premieres Monday, July 20th on Network Ten at 7pm

Rove is celebrating its 10th season with some very healthy figures this year, 1,290,000 viewers tuned in nationally making it the 7th most watched show for Sunday. Coming in 2nd in its timeslot (Bones on Seven had 1,419,000 viewers). Nine was a very distant 3rd with its Sunday Movie.

Rove to take a month off

TV Tonight reports that Rove will be taking a four week mid-year break. The show started earlier than usual this year, so the team will get a one month break.

The last of the current shows will air Sunday July 12th.

This year the show started in February, earlier than its 2007 / 2008 seasons, so a decision was made to factor in a mid year break to allow the creative time to recharge.

Look for MasterChef Australia to take its place with a finale on July 19th.

Might be a good time for a honeymoon?

Rove won the all important key demographics 18-49, 16-39 & 25-54 once again.
