It was everything you expect with all the titanium, carbon fiber and billet machine engine cases you could ever dream of. It was great to see the evolution of the bikes and the motors from the last 500 two stroke to the current 800 cc machines. The team was out testing so we didn’t get to see this year’s bikes or the 1000’s, but we saw everything else. I tried to sneak a motor in my backpack, but they weren’t having it. After talking with Shawn throughout the culmination of the build, it turns out his vision slightly changed direction. Since he is new to motorcycling and this is his first bike, he has begun paying more attention to different styles and options out there and decided that he wanted the bike to be very simple. We figure he has enough flare in the rest of his life so we agreed to tone it back but still keep it custom. By Shawn’s request, the bike was blacked out from head to toe by Chris Wood at <a target="_blank" href="http://www.airtrix.com/">Airtrix</a>. The original wheels were pulled apart, powder coated gloss black and re-laced by <a target="_blank" href="http://www.dubyausa.com/">Dubya USA</a> and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.olympicpowdercoating.com/">Olympic Powdercoating</a>. We made a custom set of hand shaped aluminum side covers that thinned the bike up a touch while covering the<a target="_blank" href="http://www.knfilters.com/"> K&N</a> air cleaners from <a target="_blank" href="http://www.british-customs.com/">British Customs</a>. Other RSD custom fab’d parts include the rear grab bar and turn signal mounts. The stock Scrambler seat was replaced with a Triumph Thruxton version.
