Why would you unlock the boot loader? Well, you can root the phone and install custom rom’s. Not only that, you can uninstall a lot of bloatware/crapware that comes with the phone which you don’t need!

Everyone of us would have used some online storage mechanism for sure, there are hundreds of free storage providers starting obviously from Google, Dropbox etc… Even Ubuntu have one, Ubuntu One! Pretty much the logic & business work on the same principle. Some storage is given for free and if you want more than that then it is paid as you need service. So yes, this is ‘Cloud Storage Service’, why? The end user is free to use these wherever they’re regardless of location, Devices used. The advantage is very simple; you get the access where ever you go and do not need to carry it with you and some businesses do run in this model itself.

• Google Docs allows users to upload documents, spreadsheets and presentations to Google’s data servers. Users can edit files using a Google application. Users can also publish documents so that other people can read them or even make edits, which means Google Docs is also an example of cloud computing.
• Web e-mail providers like Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail store e-mail messages on their own servers. Users can access their e-mail from computers and other devices connected to the Internet.
• Sites like Flickr and Picasa host millions of digital photographs. Their users create online photo albums by uploading pictures directly to the services’ servers.
• YouTube hosts millions of user-uploaded video files.
• Web site hosting companies like StartLogic, Hostmonster and GoDaddy store the files and data for client Web sites.
• Social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace allow members to post pictures and other content. All of that content is stored on the respective site’s servers.
• Services like Xdrive, MediaMax and Strongspace offer storage space for any kind of digital data.

So now we know that we do use cloud services, of course may not be calling it in that fancy way. The one which is familiar is as described before is ‘Cloud Storage Services’. How about extending them and making business around that?

Cloud Computing at its current form goes as;

Iaas => Infrastructure as a Service.

Paas => Platform as a Service.

Saas => Software as a Service.

To run an company, what all do you need? Let’s list it down;

1. Office Space

2. Lab Racks to host your servers/workstations (well then air coolers, redundant power supplies, cabling experts and so on…)

3. People to Manage space, we call them facilities. People to Manage the Network/Helpdesk Infrastructure, we call them the IT people.

4. Costly software * (Number of Users)

5. Think about departments – You’ll typically have Finance/HR/IT/Facilities/Security and so on…

Now, in cloud computing – you obviously can’t eliminate every bit of it however how about shedding some OPEX on whatever you do.

If you have 1000 Employees, you need 1000 licenses of Operating Systems/Generic softwares like email/chat client/Specialized softwares that gets your job done/ & people to manage that and keep it up.

In cloud computing, you do not buy anything (well don’t have to), but only pay a subscription to use and that too only on how much you need. You subscribe to software/applications including the systems/servers that run these applications.

Rikard Skogberg writes on Sony Erricson product blog that by end of Q2/Early Q3 2011, they’ll upgrade X10 to GingerBread 2.3.3

Some key points to note:-

Will any functionality from the previous software version disappear by doing this upgrade?

Yes – the work is still ongoing so details will be communicated closer to launch but these are the current expected limitations:

• The current plan is that the Xperia^TM X10 will get the Android standard Camera user interface and therefore features like e.g. face recognition, smile shutter etc will be lost.
• Moxier is replaced by the gingerbread native EAS functionality.
• Mediascape is being replaced by the media experience widgets and music player included in our new 2011 products.
• DRM keys for protected content on your phone will be lost in the upgrade process.
• The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost.
• Support for bi-directional languages will be reduced compared to the latest version of the 2.1 version of the Xperia^TM X10.

If it is going to be like the 2.1 upgrade, I’m gonna have to assume that this upgrade will actually kick in only by Q3 probably. Even then, this move is welcomed and Sony likes to prove a point that ‘they do care for the existing customers’

Flash Tool created by some folks at XDA is one of the very powerful and noob-friendly tool that actually does many tasks and I’ve tried this on my X10, it just works great. Let’s look at what all it can do;

A very handy tool and you can’t go wrong with this UI tool.

It helps you to;

• Root your Xperia X10 (works on latest 2.1 Sony firmware).
• Customize – by removing the bloatware’s that comes with the Sony firmware (can remove the stuff that you don’t use, like creatouch, moxiermail etc…)
• It can install both xrecovery and busybox.
• It can even install custom flash’s onto X10. The best part is, you can recover the phone back to original Sony Firmware as well, if you have change of thought!
• Clear Dalvik Cache.
• Optimize.

FlashTool now is something like an all in one Tool for your phone.
It can:
- Flash original Images (Android 1.6 & Android 2.1 Images)
- Root your phone (Only if the phone is on a 2.1 android version)
- Install xRecovery, Busybox

Thiruvananthapuram : The number of unemployed, including medical graduates and engineers, has risen to 4.3 million in Kerala, says an economic review tabled in the assembly Wednesday.
As of June 2010, the number of unemployed included 1.6 million professional and technical job seekers. In 2009 the total unemployed tally stood at 4.3 million.
The unemployed include 1,885 medical graduates, 6,965 engineers, 34,653 diploma holders, 361 agricultural graduates and 345 veterinary graduates as well as 44,976 post-graduates.
As of March 31, 2010, over 2.4 million women were seeking work compared to over 1.7 million men.
Thiruvanathapuram district had the highest number of unemployed followed by Kollam, reveals the review. Wayanad had the least number of unemployed at 88,940.
Figures also show that as of December 2009, a total of 615,431 people were employed in the public sector and 501,265 in the private sector.

So much for a state that was and is declared ‘Fully Literate State’ in India!
