Come kick off the 2024-25 school year with us at Fall Saukfest!

Grab some free food, see some old friends (and make some new ones!), and ease into the fall semester on the Riverside Lawn. 

Acquire an understanding of flight instruments by taking Instrument Training classes. After successful completion of this course, the student will qualify for the authorization to take the FAA Instrument Pilot Knowledge Test. There is an additional fee for the FAA Exam. 

Instrument Training classes will be conducted live online through Google Meets. Class sessions will be held Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fees for this class will be $400. Sessions begin August 12 and will conclude December 2. 

Students may be eligible to receive a reimbursement award up to $2,000 after completion. For more information contact Brenda Helms at brenda.helms@svcc.edu or 815-835-6212. 

Learn to fly by preparing for the Private Pilot Knowledge Exam by taking Private Pilot Ground Training classes. After successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Exam. There is an additional fee for the FAA Exam.

SVCC Criminal Justice Bootcamp

Learn about policework in a fun and interactive way!

High school students will gain hands-on experience in crime scene area work including photography, sketching, fingerprinting and evidence collection. Participants will also use SVCC's state of the art police simulator and how police respond to a variety of scenarios.

Sauk Valley Community College will host a baseball and softball umpiring class on Saturday, September 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in SVCC Room 1C03. 

Become a softball and/or baseball umpire. With over 30 years of coaching and umpiring experience, the IHSA official instructor, Thomas Nance, will prepare individuals of all ages for an exciting and fulfilling part-time job of working with young athletes on local ball diamonds. Your training includes field work, videos, guest speakers, reading and observation assignments, and online assessments. This class will prepare students to take the IHSA softball and/or baseball umpire exam (fee not included). Students should wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes and bring a lunch and baseball or softball glove to class. This class will be a one-day session for ages 15 and up. The fee for this class is $39 per person.

Community Trip to "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child"

Join Sauk Valley Community College’s Community Education department for a bus trip to Chicago to see “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” on Wednesday, October 2.

It’s time to believe in magic! Broadway’s spellbinding sensation “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is coming to Chicago on its first-ever North American Tour. Prepare for a mind-blowing race through time, spectacular spells, and an epic battle, all brought to life with the most astonishing theatrical magic ever seen on stage.

The ticket price of $149 includes ticket for the show, transportation, driver gratuity, and bus snacks. Travelers will have time on their own to explore Chicago before the 1:00 p.m. matinee show.

The bus will leave SVCC’s parking lot at 8:30 a.m. The group will stop at Portillo’s after the show before returning to SVCC at 8:30 p.m. The trip is limited to ages 10+
