Having taken the time to decide whether to join or not, I am already 28 days late in the 100 articles in 100 days Challenge by EzineArticles.com.

Writing is not really my thing but I do write a few articles once in a while. So, hopefully participating in the 100 Articles in 100 Days Challenge can help me improve my writing and also write more regularly. I have the bad habit to freeze after writing 1 or two articles and I usually freeze for too long.

So, far I have written one article for the challenge and that was 8 days ago. It has not yet been approved.

Let me begin with why I have not been online much these days and have not got much time to visit my friends’ blogs. I have got a new job and everything changed. See, when you are used to work from home and now having to wake up early every day is a super big change. But I really enjoy my job and colleagues so the rest is no big deal. Almost everyone who know me personally knows why I have quit my last job so I won’t repeat it here. But I think it is important to inform everyone that I am no longer working for Discount Web Design. I really enjoyed working there… but time for change I wish them best of luck.

These days I am working on french  sites. I remember how that scared me 2 months ago since everything I have read and seen concerning SEO is in english (yeah right I did not have to search in french before… silly me haha). But it is great to work with less competitive keywords, it’s so much easier to test a few things that I did not really get the opportunity to try before. It’s a bit different from the way I used to work (maybe not) but it’s so exciting to see results within a month. Not having to work under pressure can be great if you love your job.

So that’s about it, also the hijack story got me pissed off (sovaz kine bez mo hotmail la kav prend li met li dan so f! ban ki comprend creol pas traduire, merci). Didn’t feel like writing much just thought I should update so people do not think am dead, am sick today not really in the best of moods.

I am always looking for new sites where I can publish stuffs that I write or join community sites to get to know new people and also make new friends.  I have joined this site today thoughts.com, a very interesting website where you have a variety of stuffs you can do to keep yourself busy.  A bit of an all in one, below are a few of the services offered free at thoughts.com:

-  Create a blog, you decide whether to put it live or keep it private.

-  Share your photos- Upload your videos and share with friends.

-  Upload your favorite audio files.  And a few other services that I will let you discover yourself.

Thoughts.com also has a forum for its members, so if you have any problem you know here to go. So far, I have started a blog but I will be keeping it private, I will be using it to keep notes of the stuffs I am doing for that new project I am working on.  I doubt other people want to know what I am doing anyway haha.

 I also found the polls category a very nice option on the site, you have a doubt on something?  Others can help you figure it out.  I guess you will learn to enjoy the site once you have joined, I hope you will have a nice time there.

I informed most of the people I know already and with Shannon’s help the hijacker has been stopped from using my account at Digitalpoint, she informed other members in this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=930877.

Worst thing is that the person is still using my hotmail and trying to fool around, so if anyone has added the id rubeina17@hotmail.com please block it or delete from your friend list asap, whatever s/he says to you on chat, it is NOT me. I am trying to get back my account, and hope everything will be resolved soon.

So far that person has scammed the DP member Yfcadmin of $100, here are the details provided by the person

I have been polite and mentioned about the hijacker as a “person” not to make this post look like shit but all the time it was all the worst thing possible that was on my mind. To the person who did this; I don’t think I will ever be able to trace you but whoever you are, if you are reading this, I wish you all the bad things in life. Sorry but I cannot resist to curse this person, this won’t do him any harm anyway… unfortunately

Update: Sunday 20 July
I just learned from a friend (thank you for providing me with this information) that the hijacker has opened a paypal account with the id rubeina17@hotmail.com. I haven’t got my account back, so if anyone asks you to send money to rubeina17@hotmail.com it is NOT me! Also everyone (at least those who knows me) from Digital Point know that I am from Mauritius and CANNOT receive money on paypal.

So, I thought one good post would be one about my blog stats and hopefully I will be more keen to post my thoughts. I am not out of ideas if you are thinking that might be why I am not posting, I have millions of stuffs running through my mind waiting impatiently to be in a post here. Blame me… I am lazy, but I have also been working a lot lately, time is a big problem too. Ah! If only my dream could come true.

1. Alexa

a. The Challenge
Unfortunately everyone failed to reach top 100 on Alexa for Mauritius, let’s declare the closest to 100 as the winner… that is ME! Okay okay, I am kidding. I just wanted to add, I really enjoyed trying to figure out how to get in top 100, it is just that Alexa had a bad timing for the update.

b. My Rank
Just after the update my Alexa rank dropped from 243,656 to 349,749 but I just checked it is now 222,618, that’s better than before the update. I hope they did not go back to the old stats
It feels good to see that I am ranking under 100k in many countries and I really did not know that most of my traffic comes from the United States, I thought it was Mauritius.

Cool!

2. Blog Stats

Yay! I reached 4k unique visitors today. It is not exact but that is what Counterize II says (since I installed it)

And as if reaching 4k uv was not enough, I won 367 entrecard credit from Andreas, drop your card there and get a chance to be the lucky one next time.  Great Friday evening, after all these goodies I will surely have a great week-end!

I don’t think it will be easy for us to get in top 100 now since we don’t know yet how alexa works now and at what frequency they are going to update but anyway I had a nice time trying to figure out how to get mauritian traffic on my blog. Not so easy if you ask me, probably if I had an anime site it would be much easier for me

Now concerning the alexa changes I think that the new rankings are definitely going to be better than the previous ones, you can read more about the changes here http://www.alexa.com/site/company/announcement

And the new one, I am in with it but I think there’s still a few things to modify to improve it. And the text under the photo should have said “Me at Trou aux Cerfs” haha no place for the deers (cerfs in french)

I am not worrying about it, in fact I don’t care at all about how google will treat this blog but it just made me wonder. I checked on a few tools just to be sure.

1 - My blog is not so new, it’s more than a year old and even if I haven’t been posting, I installed wordpress since day one. My homepage is indexed but not www.rubeina.com/index.php This is probably the reason, let’s wait and see. But why does google treat the main url and the index page as 2 pages when they’re both the same thing?

3 - I am not in google supplemental, all my content is fresh and original (I don’t copy paste, I don’t have to fear duplicate content either)

4 - Banned? Me? No… It would be cool if I was, I’d have a cool time trying to find out why I’ve been banned. J/k
