Not sure if anyone has read or heard about it but there was a shooting at the local Costco late yesterday afternoon. One 61 year old male dead and the shooter in custody. The Costco is in Strongsville, Ohio.

I've heard two stories, which one is accurate, I've not a frickin clue.

Story 1:
The shooter was open carring and the 61 yo male was an employee who informed the guy that guns were not allowed in Costco. They got into an argument and wham the shooter shoots the employee dead.

On Jan 31st i picked up a GP100 from my local bass pro in TN. When i got home the barrel looked a little off center but i didn't think anything of it. over the years all of my ruger guns have been top notch and i had no concern. A few days later i took it to the local range and found it was wildly inaccurate and incapable of hitting anything. I'm bad with a handgun but not this bad. I took the revolver home along with the brass. After closer inspection, the barrel was off center and crooked...

Personally, I prefer the 1911 in 45acp, and the SP-101 in 357 magnum. However, depending on perceived threat level, I'll carry anything from a 22lr on up.

TL;DR:

Thinking about adding a 9mm AR based PCC to my collection.

Before pulling the trigger on a MAT9 and waiting, I'm curious what y'all have and what similar upper only options are out there?

Preferably bufferless, roller delay, side charging, 8" barrel option (+/- 1"), compatible with standard AR lower and endo/exomags. The closer to $500 the better.

Welp, yet another Ruger QC problem. Bought one of the new upgraded 10/22s a few days ago and finally went to zero it today after slowly fixing the FTE/FTF issues I've been having (replaced trigger group and charging handle, and sanded down the overspray inside receiver). I'm shooting CCI Semi Auto Quiet rounds suppressed which work flawlessly in my other 10/22.

My shots were all over the place - I was getting 6 inch groups at 25 yards. Yikes!
I thought maybe the rail I installed was loose...

Ruger has made a lot of great guns over the years, and some never should’ve left the catalog. If you could bring back one discontinued model tomorrow exactly as it was, what would it be?
For me, there are a few contenders, but I’d lean toward some of the old mid-size revolvers or certain tang safety rifles. Curious what longtime Ruger folks would vote for and why.

My stepson and his wife came over yesterday for a combination birthday (stepson’s) and Mother’s Day lunch. Wife suggested they bring their handgun and we could shoot.

I hadn’t planned to shoot much, so I tossed a couple 22LR revolvers and a 10/22 in the car for my wife to shoot. Also brought a fresh brick of cheap ammo.

Well, my stepson gets his 357BH out to start. He inherited it. He only brought a half box and it was 357 stuff. After he and my DIL tried hitting plates, without success...

Not long after I got the SRH in 454 Casull I started loading rounds for it. On a trip to the range I was using the range bag as a rest. Let me also say that the this gun has had trigger work done and once cocked it's a feather light pull. So I reloaded the gun and cocked it as I was settling on the rest (range bag). I was so focused on the sights, breathing and the target that I failed to notice the gun had settled on the bag and the muzzle was actually covered over by the bag. Well, let's...

Calling all long distance shooters. The question is, "what's the draw or what do you want to achieve when shooting long distance say like 600 yard".

When i target shoot i strive for good consistent groups. I just don't want to hit the target i want to be accurate.

Obviously, the farther out you go generally the groups tend to spread.

Went shooting at a club as a guest, didn't cost anything except time. I had plenty of ammo (reloads).

I just traded into a LF Vaquero, just like @LDB has, except mine isn't quite as well worn.. my plan is to change that.

Found this little booger at the shop today, eyes matted closed and covered with fleas. Got one open and the other half open and took him to the vet where my daughter works. Other than the eye infection, he’s in good health, @ four weeks old, and has a “deformity” where the two middle toes on both back feet are combined into one toe, two claws, two bones, one toe. The vet of 35 years said he’s never seen this but that it shouldn’t be a problem. I like his little bobcat ears.

After a couple decades around firearms, I’ve learned we usually regret the ones we let go more than the ones we bought. For me, it was an older Security Six that I still kick myself over.

What Ruger did you sell or trade that you wish you still had? Could be because of value, accuracy, sentimental reasons, or just because they don’t make them like that anymore.

I have a Security 9. I cannot say enough about how much I like shooting it. Last year I bought a G43 for EDC. It carries like a dream. Shoots like a nightmare. Glock grips have never suited me. First shot with concentration is good, but cannot keep it positioned in my hand for subsequent shots without really concentrating. My Security 9 I think I could close my eyes and shoot out the center of a target at 7 yards.
I know the 9 compact is much thicker than the G43. Probably more like a G26...

I know many of us have watched the shipping information on stuff we ordered and think what the ... is the mail doing. At times it makes NO sense. Well atleast we aren't in this predicament. I'd be pissed to defcon 1, because I'd rather have my stuff than the money, but then denying my claim would send me into the nuclear option. Atleast his claim got approved after a few tries but I'd still be angry. Question is what the ..... is going on in the postal service? Time for an overhaul...

I am looking for a lighter recoil option using my 327 brass.

I also load and shoot 32HR.

There was a post on this forum in 2022, asking about loading 32HR recipes in 327FM brass. There was never a reply from anyone that personally experimented with this type of load.

Ioegan gave a good response, and there were good tips from others.

I have read posts elsewhere that talked about the dangers of loading 38 recipes in 357 brass, including pressure spikes from different powder burn rates...

Nothing against the RXM, love both of mine. But noticed recently in near dark conditions that the front sights glow nicely, then also promptly noticed that you have no clue where the rear sight is without a glowing reference. So just how functional are “night” sights if you can’t see half of the combo?

My TD started jamming with not obvious reason. It will strip the shell out of the magazine but only feed it halfway into the chamber. I've cleaned the rifle and with the barrel out of the action a live shell drops into the chamber with no resistance. What else should I check before I contact Ruger?

Help me understand the lure of single action revolvers

I just don’t get the appeal of single action only revolvers. I have 3 revolvers, all double action, a S&W model 65-2 357, S&W model 617-6 10 shot 22 cal and a Colt Python 357. If I want to shoot my DA pistols as SA, all I have to do is cock the hammer back. Am I missing something?

Been around these guns a long time, and I keep coming back to the .357 lever actions for practical use. Cheaper to shoot, lighter recoil, holds more rounds, and with good ammo they’re no joke inside sane distances.

I know the .44 Mag hits harder, but for those of you who own both, which one actually gets used more? Hunting, range, truck gun, general woods carry, what keeps coming out of the safe?
