U.S. and Canadian citizen children under the age of 16 will be able to present the original or copy of their birth certificate or other proof of U.S. citizenship such as a naturalization or citizenship card. For additional acceptable documentation, click here. There are no exceptions.”For runners who already have a passport or another approved travel document, it’s...

Thoughts of personal records can be dismissed Sunday for those running in the Hidden Forest Trail Run near Clarkston. The event, put on by the Flint-area's Riverbend Striders, offers three unusual distances and takes place on a demanding course. There are 2.5-mile, 5.5-mile and 8.5-mile races at Independence Oaks County Park, which is just off Sashabaw Road. The races take place on a loop course around Crooked Lake — one lap for the short race, two for the 5.5-mile and three for the long race. The 8.5-mile run goes onto the difficult Spring Lake Trail on the final lap. All three races will start at 9:30 a.m. Race-day registration will begin at 8. The entry fee is $20 with a long-sleeve shirt and $10 without the shirt. There is a walk division for the 2.5-mile race, but not the other two races....

FLINT, Michigan - Glenn Collins entered enemy territory Saturday. The Columbus, Ohio resident and Ohio State University graduate ventured north to downtown Flint to compete in the Crim Festival of Races one-mile race. "I was a little nervous at first," Collins said of coming to Michigan. "I didn't wear any Ohio State stuff because I didn't know what would happen." The former Buckeye ended up besting all of his counterparts in finishing in first place in 5:25.6. He wanted to show off his school spirit at the end of the race, but when he considered how many Michigan and Michigan State fans were likely in attendance, he held off. "I'm not going to say, 'Go Buckeyes' or anything," Collins said. "I'll keep that inside."...

Oscar Durand | The Flint JournalParticipants in the Crim Festival of Races 10-mile wheelchair race take off from the starting line on Saginaw Street Saturday. FLINT, Michigan - Dane Pilon got a quick workout Saturday morning in downtown Flint. A quick workout for him that is. The Fayetteville, N.C. resident is used to competing in 26-mile wheelchair marathons. Saturday, he raced in the Crim Festival of Races 10-mile wheeler event and he barely broke a sweat in cruising to a first-place finish in 28:36. "(10 miles) is where you get your second wind," Pilon said. "It was like a time trial."...
