As iliotibial band passes femur , it is easly to touch lateral epicondyle of femur . While knee joint extends and bends, iliotibial band slides along lateral epicondyle of femur . The friction against iliotibial band reaches the peak once it is bent up to 20 to 30 degree . Inflammation may occur because of too much friction . If the slide of iliotibial band is held back , the pain will come along during the moment . In the case of repetitive bends and extending , iliotibial band rubs femoral lateral condyle and lower bursa, bring in lateral pain.

The pain occurs around the knee, and sometimes beneath the knee . runner’s knee always takes place after an excessive and over-speed running . In several days, it may deteriorate after another running. The pain becomes intense during the stair climbing. There are stiffness and pain in the knee after a long sitting. The sound like clicks may be heard when you bend or extend your knee.
