			In an effort to invite locals to learn more about this Mexican holiday, Alynn Guerra teamed up with Brett Colley, a fellow printmaker and associate professor of art and design at Grand Valley State University, to co-curate a “Day of the Dead Mini-Print” exhibit slated for Friday and Saturday at Guerra’s Red Hydrant Press Studio.

			Ten artists were invited by greenhouse owners Tim and Karen Leep to paint and embellish pine outhouses that will be on display through the end of the month. Visitors pay $1 per vote to support their favorite artists, with the proceeds going to  support a 2010 mission trip to Africa.

			After 81-year-old Margaret Herrema died from injuries suffered in a purse-snatching, her daughter and granddaughter channeled their grief into a charity that provides quilts to people who need hope. Margaret's Hope Chest gas given away 102 quilts so far.
