Selfie Sunday: My Mother

A reflection of my mother on Mother’s Day, the past weeks have been emotional, sad and depressing for me as my mother’s health wasn’t well, but, she’s a bit better now, thankfully.

Even though she’s a bit better now, she’s still in pain and even with pain, she continues to be a mother, a wife & a designer .

My mother has been sewing all her life, made clothes for herself, her sisters, her mom, I believe one of her brothers, her nieces, nephews and of course, her children (my siblings and I). She always made such cute clothes for my siblings and I, always wanted us to look our best, she has a natural eye for design & style, she even sewed our Halloween costumes once! I still remember that, I wanted a clown costume, and she made one for me❤️

Years later, in early 2000’s, one of my male cousins were going to get married, my mom made a black dress for me & that was my first dress I wore at a family party event as I always opt for dressy pants and a top, I was in my late teens.

In 2011, a female cousin was going to be wed, and I needed a dress and mother asked me what kind of dress I wanted and that she’d make one for me. I drew it up, two short pink version dresses, because I couldn’t make up my mind, and she helped me decide which one based on the pattern she knew and had from her Burda sewing magazines.

And she helped me make my dream wedding guest dress (here are the blogposts, here & here), I loved the dress and it came out SO PERFECTLY CUTE!!!😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ That dress is my ABSOLUTELY FAV DRESS I HAVE!! It is my darling, my beloved fav dress, and I’d want to die with it😝! To this day, my mother and I talk about how we love that dress💞

In 2016, another female cousin of mines was going to be wed, and my mother decided to make a dress for my twin sister and I. It was another short cute dress but in black lace🖤 She made a beautiful short dress for my twin sister that ended up being a fav dress of the night😊👌🏻❤️✨

Now, 2021, my brother is getting married next month, June 4th, my mother is sewing another dress for me. It’s a special dress, the story behind the fabric, it’s sweet, sentimental, it has meaning, I won’t share it now, maybe in the near future❤️.

But, even with pain in her neck, spine and shoulders, she’s sewing me a dress to look my best, as we both know, in malls and stores, most dresses are cheap quality, or too big on me for my slender & petite body & we’re both picky, so sewing a dress is always the best option! We have been working together on making my dress, I did fittings twice today and the dress is almost done and BOY!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO WEAR IT!! I FEEL LIKE SUCH A DOLL IN IT!!! 😍❤️✨

I love my mom, I appreciate her hard work, her talent, her love to have me always looking my best, even with all the pain she is in.

It’s bittersweet, as this dress will be the LAST DRESS sewn by my mother. I cried the past days, it’s been emotional & sad. So, I’ve been reflecting and thinking of the history of my mom making dresses for my siblings and I and herself, and well, I appreciate her, her time, her hands, her hard work, & her love❤️.

Yesterday afternoon, I was with my mom in her bedroom, helping her decide on her Mother of the Groom dress that she’s sewing herself. She was doing her fittings and I was helping her decide on things and pinning where she directed me to pin to see how things are visually. I sat back as I watched my mom look at herself in the mirror with her dress and I smiled but, also I was emotional but didn’t show my emotions, I kept it in my mind and thought of how.....this would be the last time I have moments like this with my mother, and I was sad, but I hid my sadness from her, because she was happy in her design.

The relationship of my mother and I, it’s....it’s tough, we bump heads, don’t see eye to eye, we argue, we fight, we don't get along one minute and next minute we're laughing and getting along. We love, we laugh, joke around, and cry. Our relationship, it pulls out EVERY OUNCE, EVERY TYPE OF EMOTIONS out of us, it's pretty crazy, it’s just like the mother daughter relationship of the movie, Lady Bird, which is about exploring a complex relationship between complex personalities, which is SO MY MOTHER & I, but at the end, we have love for each other, throughout the rough moments between us, we have love, a complex relationship for sure!

It’s all bittersweet, but, I love my mom at the end, and I appreciate all that she has done for me, getting my back, not giving up on me during my forever college years, & sewing my dresses. ❤️✨

My dear mother, you're a trooper, you're a soldier, and as you always say, you're made out of metal, it's very true, you are.

No, no, not what you're thinking, it's not a post to show pictures of the selfie. In a world where we have become so into the selfie, where there's even a #SelfieSundays, I thought to myself this past month, Selfie....it's always about a picture of ones face usually or of themselves. But I thought to myself, why not write about the self on Sundays, when I have something to share!

This year, mainly from February to April, I have been deep into my thoughts about reflecting on life, fated moments, people, the connections we have with people, ourselves, and just trying to understand it all with thoughts, questions and trying to find answers or discovering realizations, it's all been eye opening and well, I have so much to say, that I decided to share about the self of the inner me.

I won't post every Sunday's, just when I have something to share or when I feel ready to share from my heart!❤️ 😊

A Reflection of my 2020

2020 was the theme of OUT with the OLD & IN with the NEW!

I saw this all the way in March, I observed what was going on

& KNEW 2020 was the yr that we ARE TRANSITIONING INTO A NEW WORLD!! Life as we knew it was OVER!!

It’s like we shedded the old skin of 2019 decade and the 2020 decade is a new skin, a new life & a new world. And I couldn’t believe it, that I was witnessing changes RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!

Like when Kobe died, I felt like his death was like an end of life as we knew it was over, our normalcy was over, I found his death to be eerie. And then the Coronavirus hit, that lil thing that came with a HUGE package caused so much uphill, sadness, GRIEF, heartache & most of all, CHANGE!!

That change that sprung up from the virus, gave us a new normal, an odd & strange one, we had to quickly adapt to new life rules, we had to give up the OLD way of life for a NEW way of life.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!

And yet, I find it so strange yet funny how things worked out for me in my favor due to the Pandemic.

Last yr I decided to take a break from fashion illustration and shift my focus on sewing and to go into fashion design. So when the pandemic hit, and all fashion businesses shifted into making masks and new jobs were created, I KNEW I COULD GET A LEVEL ENTRY SEWING JOB!! And I did, I got a very entry level sewing job in June, and I was THRILLED!!! So even though this virus caused a world wide pandemic & it was horrible for everyone, I must say in some odd funny way, it OPENED DOORS for me to JUMP START my fashion design dreams! This sewing job was a stepping stone towards my dreams, it meant SO MUCH to me!! It made me want to pursue fashion design even more!!

I just find it funny how life works out, even in darkness there’s still light, you just gotta look for it, & I did, I found it & it made me happy & hopeful :)

So I just want to THANK 2020 for OPENING THE DOORS to my fashion dreams, jump starting it, the pieces literally fell into place, life is truly amazing, interesting yet strange how things just work out!

So it really gives proof that, things really do happen for a reason. Covid gave me a job, a job I wanted & got. If covid didn’t happen, I won’t have gotten a sewing job, a very entry level one, so for that, I am thankful for covid happening even though that sounds so strange to write and for you to read, but hey, it’s my life & covid did give me something new, career wise. ;)

It got rid of my old career and brought in the new. I don’t know what’s next for me career wise, I do still have a sewing production job which I’m happy about, but I want more, I’m in it for the long haul now, there’s no turning back. <3

I would also like to add, my year ended on a beautiful, happy, magical and euphoric note, it was totally unexpected, and I'm just grateful and thankful!😍❤️

Happy New Years guys, may 2021 be BETTER, no more lockdowns, I hope! *fingers crossed* I really can’t handle another full yr of a lockdown, too depressing :(

And please wear masks and social distance, think about the nurses, my heart goes out to them, they’re the REAL MVP’S of 2020❤️

2020 The year of SYNCHRONICITY

This yr was the first year that I started seeing repeating numbers.

It all started with seeing 11:11 which was either in Feb or March & I was shocked, because, I always wanted to see that number, but never did. I thought, 'oh wow I’m seeing this number! Pretty cool!' After that I started seeing more repeating numbers every time I looked at my phone time or computer time, IT WAS WEIRD!!! It started to creep the fuck outta me to the point I was TOO SCARED to look at the time because, I knew it was going be there!

But, the week I got my sewing production job, I kept seeing repeating numbers, so I believe good things come your way when you see repeating numbers, at least it’s been like that for me, I still see repeating numbers. :)

I know I’m on the right path, I hope new positive changes are in store for me :)

I would also like to point out that, 2020 is ALSO A REPEATING YEAR NUMBER!! So I find that odd & interesting that I started seeing repeating numbers within a repeating year number, so STRANGE!!

My year started with seeing 11:11 & ended with seeing 11:11 tonight, I mean....that is just so beautiful and so interesting!❤️

Life is interesting I tell ya! ;)

Quarantined Birthday

Today,

August 24th is my birthday.

My wish for my birthday was to NOT spend my day AT HOME, because, well, that's depressing, I have always went out with my twin sister on our bday. But not today, today I stayed home and I was sad about that. I had a job since June, my first sewing job, which I was THRILLED ABOUT, very entry level, sewing elastics to medical masks for hospitals. I was really happy there and having to just SEW. Sure, overtime, the job became tiring for my body, but, I still loved the job, I honestly loved it more than my freelance illustration jobs, because I love to work with my hands <3

Anywho, early August, at work there were 2 celebrations, a surprise wedding celebration for a worker and another of someone's birthday. I thought, 'Oh, wow! This is so cool & sweet of the company to do this for their workers!' I thought maybe they'll throw me a surprise birthday celebration too! It was always a lil dream of mines to have a bday celebration by co-workers at the workplace, I just wanted to feel that happy, caring, loving and healthy environment at a workplace, since I never experienced that as I'm a freelancer and work by myself.

But, I had a feeling, I won’t get a bday celebration at work last week & I was sad about that, I just had a feeling, but I thought, maybe they will do something for me? Would be nice😌 *Staying hopeful*

But, last Friday, I was given UNEXPECTED news, I was told not to come to work on Monday and that week, because I’ll be on standby as the coronavirus is “lessening” as the co-worker told me, which is such a lie *rolls eyes*

So, I was heartbroken, my ONLY WISH FOR MY BIRTHDAY WAS TO NOT BE AT HOME AND BE AT WORK 😢😢😞💔

As I said, I had a FEELING, I won’t get a bday celebration at work, but damn, I didn’t expect to not come at all, I didn’t expect that news!! It was such a bomb drop for me. I just wanted to cry, because my wishes & hopes for my bday were gone now, I would really be having a quarantined birthday -.-

Waking up this morning, I was sad, but the sadness quickly changed, after my mom wished me a happy birthday, she was the only one that wished me and my sister a happy birthday, no cousins, no other family, just my mom. And I realized at that moment, that’s all that really mattered. Sure, my bday wishes came crashing down on me, sure I won’t get the office bday celebration surprise, sure, I won’t be celebrating outside my home, but, I had my mom, the only person in my family to say, “Happy Birthday” with a hug & a kiss❤️✨

My mom is my Birthday present, she’s the only one that’s there for me when no one else is, she’s the only one that really matters. Not the workplace, not the workplace celebration with people that probably don’t really care about me, not the Porto’s cakes, sandwiches & welches Sparkling Rose, those are just things.

I don’t know if my mother will be here next yr, so this may be the last birthday celebration I have with her, so having her for another birthday and her forever love is honestly the only thing I needed & the only thing that truly matters, and that in itself is a present. ❤️✨

2018 Highlights

1.Went for a fashion internship interview in DTLA for a clothing brand, Saint Mojavi, came home feeling happy & sunny like my blouse 😊

2. Days later I found out that I had GOTTEN THE INTERNSHIP!!! :D Was over the moon & was EXCITED!!!😁

3. I got to participate in my FIRST EVER LIVE FASHION ILLUSTRATION EVENT with Saint Mojavi X Fred Segal trunk show, during my internship!!!😁 Was exciting & fell in love with live art, LOVED THE RUSH that came with it & making others happy with free art! 😁

4. I was tagged on Fred Segal STORIES of the trunk show event!! Never in my life, would I have thought that I would have that lil moment of being featured on Fred Segal's IG stories, because, the brand is ICONIC, so it was crazy!

5. The beautiful earthy set up of Saint Mojavi's trunk show at Fred Segal, it was my first time being at Fred Segal, really COOL STORE with UNIQUE FINDS!😃

6. After the first day of the trunk show event, the Saint Mojavi designer treated me to lunch/dinner at a Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills, was really nice & sweet of her.😌💛

7. In May I started to sew up my bag ideas with faux fur and satin lining.💖

8. I FINALLY was able to find MATERIALS for my BAG IDEAS!

9. The internship was over, but Saint Mojavi asked me to be a live fashion illustrator with her again for another trunk show event, but this time in the W HOTEL in Beverly Hills! Was my first time there, and I never heard of it before🙈, didn’t want to leave needless to say lol, was so niiiice there😍😍😍😍😍💖

10. GOT OLD SKOOL REEBOKS BACK IN MY LIFE!!!! Had these old skool classic Reeboks as a kid minus the holographic stripes, my mom had a white pair too and made her lil ducklings (my sibs & I) wear them too, she knew cool style😎👌💖

11. Had a fun only girls beach hangout with my sis-in-law, her sister and my twin. She took these AWESOME BEACH SHOTS OF ME!!! I FREAKIN LOVE THEM!!! I always wanted beach shots like these, THANK YOU ELIZABETH!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘💖

12. Marc Jacobs liked my fashion illustration I did from his RTW’19 NYFW show!😃😁

WAS HUGE FOR ME!!! I wanted to get noticed by him & I DID!!!😁🙌💖

13 & 14. I have been practicing loose and quick fashion illustration style sketches with watercolors & illustrated one of Brandon Maxwell's designs from his RTW'19 NYFW & HE NOTICED & LIKED MY ILLUSTRATION, WAS AWESOME!!!!!

15. Joined Inktober2018 & did a weeks worth of inktober illustrations in ink! Was happy that I got to commit for awhile & I had fun with that, can’t wait for NEXT YEARS INKTOBER!!! I hope to do more!😊

16. Got to do a live fashion illustration event for a really cool art & fashion store in Melrose, LUZ Art Gallery, was a lot of fun & enjoyed it!💖😊

17. At the LUZ Art Gallery event as a live fashion illustrator, I GOT PICS TAKEN OF ME BY PHOTOGRAPHERS!!!😃 THAT WAS SO COOL & TOTALLY UNEXPECTED!!! 😃
That night, was the night, where it DAWNED ON ME, that I’m an ARTIST & I’M LIVING IT, I’M ACTUALLY DOING WHAT I DREW AS A KID, of me with a beret, a painting easel, painting brush & paint supplies, it was unreal & emotional, I had to hold my tears back, it was a WOW moment.😌🙏💫

18. From the LUZ Art Gallery event, I had gotten another opportunity from a guest that I illustrated & he wanted me to do a live fashion illustration house party event at his house! I said yes & the event was a lot of fun, had lots of laughs from the guests I illustrated, had cool convos about astrology while illustrating, met a lot of nice & interesting people!😊

19. Made a halloween costume based off my inktober fashion illustration, was totally last minute, but, glad I did it, I had FUN making my half outfit & shopping bags!!!😉💕

Overall, 2018 was a REALLY GRATEFUL YEAR, if it wasn’t for the internship I did with Saint Mojavi & her asking me last minute to be the fashion illustrator for her trunk show, I honestly don’t think I would have been able to have these AWESOME & FUN, live fashion illustration gigs!
Life is interesting, how 1 opportunity leads to another, it’s like a fun surprise each time, when someone wants me to be a live artist at their event, ALWAYS FUN & EXCITING!!!

1. Made my mom and twin sister a LOVE vday dessert, because they were my GALENTINE’S and because I love them!! 💞 💖 💘 💗

2. Created my own fashion illustration signature, by using my sewing machine and letting threads hang loose from my work! 😁

3. Made myself a transparent clutch, that I love sooooo much!! 💖 😁

4. Alice & Olivia liked my fashion illustration of their fashion design from their spring collection! 😃 Was awesome that the designer noticed and checked out my work!!! 😍 💖 💖 💖 💖

5. I clean shaved my undercut to my scalp!!! 💓

6. I opened up a Society6 shop to sell prints and merch of my fashion illustrations 😊

7. Created a illustration for a JOULE Magazine and used my signature style 😉 & Got MY 1ST EVER ARTIST INTERVIEW for Joule mag, was honestly the HIGHLIGHT of my 2017 and for my artist/fashion career!!! 😍 😁 💖

8. Made my own prototype shoe idea with crochet!!! 💖 😁

9. Went to Catalina Island with my fam on my bday, 8.24th & fell in love with the island all over again 💔

10. Did several outline illustrations for a fashion brand, BETINA-NY for their spring’18 collection, can’t wait to see my work on their clothes!!! 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 💖

11. Did a fashion show internship in DTLA for designer, Delise’Ana, was fun and meant a lot to me, keeping my fashion dreams alive, I honestly got emotional watching the show and just watching the night end, just because, I want my dreams to come true, and just a stupid regret of not majoring in fashion 😢 💔

12. SOLD my 1st FASHION ILLUSTRATION PRINT on my Society6 site!!! WAS AWESOME and made me happy to know someone loved my work enough to buy it and has it hanged somewhere in their personal space, feels great!!! THANK YOU WHO EVER YOU ARE!!!

14. Went to another fashion show internship/volunteering for LAFW and had a FUN TIME!!! Going to these two fashion shows and helping out were my highlights of 2017 as well, made me really happy and hopeful for my fashion dreams, kept my dreams alive and FELT AMAZING to be in a environment with other fashion industry people going after their DREAMS, loved it very much, I want to always be in that type of environment and people who chase their dreams and make it, it feels great to be surrounded by that!!! 😍 💖 💖 💖 💖

15. Hanged out with my future sis in law and brother at a pumpkin patch on a farm, was fun and a cute moment 😊 💞

16. Was asked by Sabrina to help her assist for a fashion photoshoot in DTLA for her boutique, was a fun experience to be on set and I always wanted to have a on set fashion photoshoot experience! 😃 💖

17. Learned how to make amigurumi and made my first ever amigurumi buddy doll creation! 😊 💙

18. Made a prototype of a bag design idea I wanna do, did it with crochet!! 😁 💕

19. Got my first onsie pjs!!! 😜

20. Got my 1st EVER Kat Von D product, Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 👌 💖 💖 💖 💖

21. Made my 1st ever Gingerbread House!! I never got to make one as a child, sooo, I was happy to make one or put together one, all thanks to my cousin, who put the pre-xmas event together at her fam home :D

22. Had a Christmas tree this yr 😊 made me happy 🎄 💚

23. Sis in law surprised her mother and my mother with a bday cake slice at Raffi’s restaurant in Glendale 😊 Was a CUTE moment!!! 😁 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖 💖

24. Not a happy moment, but I had to put my Uncle on my 2017 post, I would feel guilt if I didn’t include him in my post, he was part of it and he’s family and he loved my sis and I, we were his fav’s and always was happy to make bomb ass steaks for my twin sister and I!!! I miss his steaks, so juicy and so good, he always cooked with his heart, he’s greatly missed, he’s the only uncle were I felt safe in his presence ;( He was a very fine and good man, very giving man, there is no other man like him these days, and it’s unfortunate 😢 RIP Misag 😢 💔

That was my 2017, there were days, months and other moments of sadness, depression, confusion, heartaches, anger, feeling lost, feeling unsure, realizing things through sad times, but I don’t know, those days passed by, and I’m still here, still fighting for my dreams and what not. It helps to have happy moments in life when you’re going through sadness and negativity, it helps, you get the good with the bad, ya know? That's just life, let's just hope there will be more good than bad! 😌

My 2017 was ok, the 2nd half was MUCH better, but I’m not satisfied, I want more good things to happen, mainly fashion career wise. So yeah, Goodbye 2017!!!

2016 Was A Blue Stream of Tears

A year of what was supposed to be,

With a sudden surprise of love,

And a sudden break of heart,

Lost my focus,

Lost many chances,

Lost it all,

A year of what was supposed to be,

Was now a year of tears,

Lost dreams,

Forgotten goals,

A focused mind shifted to unfocused,

Lost my sense of goals,

Lost it all,

What was supposed to be a year of accomplishments,

Is now a year of loss.

Even though this year was mainly sad for me, there were some highlights:

I finished the first tshirt collection that I helped design graphic wise for Violet Love Headbands in early January, so that was nice.

I unexpectedly made a connection and ended up being friends with a girl named Maga.Oh who lives all the way in South Korea. I saw a pic of her on Instagram and loved it that, I decided to randomly just draw her portrait selfie for fun and surprise her! I didn't think of the impact I would make on this girl, she was just so shocked that some stranger would want to draw/paint her and put the time for a complete stranger across the world. I honestly didn't think of that, I merely just thought of it as a fun thing to do, I didn't realize the emotional impact it would have on both of us! Anyways, we befriended each other through Instagram and through emailing, and I must say, it was a beautiful connection and a total UNEXPECTED one! She honestly was the only person who really REALLY appreciated my random draw of her, I never had someone thank me so much and want to give back to me. I was really shocked and I felt appreciated and I did get emotional, because how could I not? I just made a connection with someone through my art. Art is really powerful and I truly believe it can bring people together, that and MUSIC! ;D I'd like to continue this on and make other complete strangers happy by connecting through art! :)

Speaking of connecting and befriending someone across the world, I unexpectedly got close to one of my Instagram followers (I follow her too), she lives in Australia & I confined in her emotionally and she's just a sweet, awesome and beautiful soul that never judged me and was really understanding and positive! We got close and emotionally and intellectually connected, & I found out we are pretty similar! :D I'm happy I can very much consider her a dear friend! ❤️ :)

I would say this year I got closer to my female friends, something I never had and it feels so nice to be connected and close to female friends, things I can share with them that I can't with my guy friends. :) But in the process of getting close to my female friends, I did get distant with my guy friends....^^' whoops!

I had a few of mini fun adventures with my twin sister❤️ that I will always cherish and love, and always go back running to those fun days and reminiscing ❤️:)

I got the haircut of my DREAMS...A UNDERCUT SIDE SHAVE!!! I got it on August 6th I believe, it was on the day of my cousins wedding, and I spontaneously decided right there and then at the salon to get a UNDERCUT SIDE SHAVE LMAO, NO REGRETS!!! :D HAPPIEST MOMENT IN 2016!!! When I finally got my dreamy haircut, I finally felt SO ME & SO BEAUTIFUL!!! 😍❤️ I felt HOME WITHIN MY OWN SELF! It was just like...FINALLY, I'M ME! :D

Although that day I quickly learned the TRUTH from having this type of non-feminine haircut, people I thought truly loved me, were actually fake, they didn't love me or show me unconditional love, which really shocked me and I was heartbroken. The only unconditional love I got was from my twin, my brother, my aunt, MY FRIENDS & MY IG FOLLOWERS/FRIENDS! Everybody else including family and relatives mainly the MALES disapproved and man, I got some dirty looks LOL, like wtf?!
Anywho, my haircut showed me the truth, who truly loves me for me & unconditionally. It was a sad truth, a BIG EYE OPENER & found out most of the guys in my family and relatives were HEAVILY SHALLOW & APPEARANCE BASED!! I guess everyone saw me as a delicate and shy type of person & they got used to that image, until I shocked them with a edgy hair-do lmao!
I don't give a fuck about these people, if you can't love me unconditionally, BYE!!!🖕🏻 #Unapologetic Be you & live your life as it was meant to be lived!!! This haircut is honestly the BEST WAY TO WEED OUT THE JERKS! :D

I opened up my online store on ArtistShops powered by Threadless, to promote my clothing brand, EZO ;) I will introduce it to you guys early next yr, when I feel ready!😊❤️✨

I had my first brand ambassador through Instagram which was awesome and totally unexpected! It was a nice experience, and I got to learn things about my brand and me and that I'm not completely ready to tell the whole world about it, as I still have certain things to figure out ^^. Self-discoveries in totally unexpected moments! But I guess, everyday you learn something about yourself, everyday is a day to grow❤️

And lastly, just days ago, an artist on a art app I'm on, French Girls app, drew my selfie which was a HAPPY UNEXPECTED MOMENT! I was really joyous and I felt what my Korean friend, Maga, felt receiving my portrait of hers and the impact it makes! It's just really lovely and it just feels so nice to have another artist draw another artist and I always draw other people, so this was a nice change & I definitely appreciate it!!! :D

For 2017, I want to obviously get back to my career in fashion/being an artist and make that my number 1 priority and not let anyone in my life, lesson learned, I see things a lot more clearly, sadly through loses ;( but they were all my choices, and now my regrets. I've learned from them and now I must say goodbye to them, and move on. Leaving things in 2016 & making a clear mind and soul for 2017, letting things go, so that I can heal❤️

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS!!! :D

Just a simple deer costume, all thanks to my handmade deer antler headband I made last yr and finished it off earlier this month. It's made out of wool felt and hand sewn onto a bought black headband. :) 😊

I was invited to my cousin's pumpkin carving party she was throwing, and I was happy to go and decided to go as a deer to wear my handmade accessory! :D I decided to keep the outfit simple, brown shades of clothing and the deer make up. Now mind you guys, I DO NOT HAVE PROPER MAKE UP SUPPLIES....they're all cheap lol and I mainly have lip products. In order to do the deer look, you need contour colors or maybe even a bronzer, well....I HAD NONE, lol. And the night before I attended my cousin's party, I was practicing my make up deer look, and not having a contour set sucked and all I could think of was, fuck and I wish I can use my sister's Anastasia's counter set *emoji crying face* lol. But I decided to just look through my stuff and see what I can do. I saw I had some brown eye shadow palettes and I thought....hmmmm....swatched them on my face and decided to play around with my brown eye shadows to achieve the deer look. And I have to say, it worked out just fine and worked out, I was pretty shocked!! :D

Here's a photo of my practice deer make up look :)

All the brown shades are eye shadows which was from a Sephora small eye shadow palette I got in 2014, never really used it, lol, BUT, I'M THANKFUL I BOUGHT IT, because it was THE BEST brown shadows I had amongst my other neutral shadows, I would have been screwed if it wasn't for the Sephora eye shadows! :D

Oh by the way, I'm not wearing any foundation or concealer, it's just brown eye shadows, white eye shadow, & white eye liner. I had a lot of fun practicing and playing around with ideas. I was honestly pretty impressed with what I had and made it work! :D

The next day, the day of the party, I did my make up a bit better and I was PRETTY WOW'D AND IMPRESSED WITH MY BASIC SKILLZ! LOL For someone who doesn't wear make up much, only for special occasions, and does basic make up looks, I'm pretty impressed with what I was able to do! I REALLLLY LOVED AND ENJOYED WORKING ON MY DEER LOOK, I just was so happy, that I wish I could play with creative make up looks all the time! In fact, makes me wish I can go to beauty school :/ I realllly love and enjoy fantasy/creative/character make up looks, it just fits in nicely with my artistic skills and interests. While, everyday make ups are BORING, and I honestly, always feel nervous doing everyday make up, because, there's pressure of having everything looking perfect, and ugh I just...I can't deal with that, that takes the fun and joy out of make up for me!

Ooooh to be an artist *sigh* everything must be fun and joyous for me, if not....I'm not interested and it rather becomes work!. -.- I MUST HAVE PASSION!

The elf liner was either a $1 or $3 when I bought it several yrs back, the wet n wild white liner is 99cents at your local drugstore, the make up forever mascara was a Sephora Birthday freebie, NYX lippie was $7 and the eye shadows I used on my face all came in a small round eye shadow palette and it was $5 on sale in 2014, and I had to get that lol, I'm thankful I did!

This is a under $20's make up look! lol :)

Reflection of 2015 :)

For the most part it was a good yr, it had it's ups and downs like any yrs, there were some bad and scary moments, but those are so small compared to ALL THE GREAT THINGS HAPPENED THIS YR! :D

I accomplished dreams and goals,

1. I faced my fear and took a ballet class and I got to perform for an audience as the final for the class. <3 comment-3--="" nbsp="">

2. I got my hand made pouches at my uni, CSUN ANNUAL JURIED STUDENT SHOW which was a goal of mines before graduating, my pouches also got in the Csun student illustration show which was also a goal and a score! ;)

3. I took up 6 classes - my first full load of classes for the final yr, it was stressful but I managed to pass my classes.

4. I finally graduated :) Which was long over due haha ^^'

5. After graduating I made a goal to get a fashion internship or a job related to fashion before the yr ended and I achieved that goal with not that much effort to be honest.

I applied for a creative assistant job for a clothing brand - VIOLET LOVE.

I did a phone interview, but found out few wks later I didn't get the job position, but the designer loved my art portfolio and saw that I would be a better fit for future projects! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! :D

October rolls by and I accepted the art gig for Violet Love and started on the projects!

I'm helping with the FIRST T-SHIRT COLLECTION, by designing images for the t-shirts! :D

This opportunity has given me SO MUCH JOY AND HAPPINESS!!! I just feel SO GRATEFUL & THANKFUL that I get to be part of something SO COOL! :D I NEVER imagined I'd get a job like this so fast, it's the closest to my dreams, which is to be a fashion designer! :)

Having this opportunity and chance, has given me so much positivity for my future, I just feel so positive that I can't wait for 2016!!! :D I think it will be a good yr for me, I HOPE! :)

6. I faced my fear again by taking the writing exam to get my Diploma (I was sooo discouraged from not passing the first time, that I held off on taking the exam), but to my surprise I passed it! :D

7. I'll be getting my Diploma in Bachelor of Arts, with a focus in Illustration! :)

Even though 7 great things happened to me this yr, by FAR the HIGHLIGHT of my yr was taking the BALLET CLASS!

Ballet is very dear and near to my heart and I loved it since I was a child. I wanted to do ballet and wear the tutu's (lol), but when my mom told me I would have to perform for an audience, I immediately said no and changed my mind, because I was such a shy child, I HATED performing for an audience or having to put myself out there, it was a scary thought, I just wanted to have fun and not have to perform.

Well, FAST FORWARD to my adult life, I still secretly loved ballet and dreamed of doing it. I really started to hate myself and hate that I let my shyness control me. So when I found out that my uni had a ballet class for PE, I KNEW I HAD TO TAKE IT! I thought, 'THIS IS MY CHANCE! This is my chance to take back my dream as a child!', because it was one of my BIGGEST REGRETS in my life! I thought to myself, it's NOW OR NEVER & I signed up for the class! LOL :D

BEST DECISION EVERRRRRRR!!! The outcome was really beautiful and I discovered many things of myself, it was a beautiful journey, it went from, "What did I get myself into?!, Maybe, I shouldn't be in this class, and oh my god, I'm not cut out for this!!! Should I have taken this class?! ;(, I feel like the weakest link! to Ok! I'm finally getting the steps down! OMG final day, I CAN'T WAIT TO GO OUT AND PERFORM, LETS DO THIS!"

I felt confused lol, because, I had some learning issues with remembering the steps and trying to learn music and counting beats (IT WAS HORRIBLE LOL, UGH MAN! >.<), I bombed the midterm, it was so embarrassing, I practiced and practiced and worked hard on getting down the steps and I actually got them down, but when it came to perform in front of my class with my group members, it was horrible, I just wanted to die, I was messing up and I actually forgot the steps and got confused with some of the steps and worse of all, I had trouble being on the same beat with the other girls in my group. I felt like such a screw up and wanted to die, it was one of the low points in that class, that I cried after class. I started to question everything, that maybe it's best to dream than to actually do it, you know, like that saying goes, Be careful for what you wish for?, yeah I felt like that.

But anywho, for the final for the class, we had to do a performance in front of an audience and the students had the option to be part of the show or not and help out with designing the show. I decided to be part of the show, because I took the ballet class for a reason, to face my fears of being shy, to take back my regret and to take back my childhood dream. Even though, I bombed the mid-term performance, I wanted another try at it, and wanted to do the final performance with my classmates.
And let me tell you......I'M SOOOO GLAD I DID IT!!! I HAD SO MUCH FUN, from the rehearsals to the ACTUAL SHOW! When the night came for the show, I WAS PUMPED UP AND EXCITED AND COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT THERE AND PERFORM! Being backstage you guys, I WAS SO SHOCKED OF HOW CALM AND FINE I WAS FEELING! LIKE NO OUNCE OF NERVES! I'VE NEVER FELT SO RELAXED AND CHILL KNOWING I'LL BE IN FRONT OF A LARGE AUDIENCE! I WAS AMAZED AND IT FELT SO GREAT!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS!

This costume was totally last minute, all thanks to my handmade cat ear headband! :D

I wanted cat ears just for a fun accessory, I wanted to make the cat ear headband with the metal wire with rhinestones, but I didn't have the materials, so I thought why not make it out of felt, just a all black one. So while planning on creating the headband, it got me into the mood for halloween, and I thought, it would be fun and cute to post it on the blog. Although, I didn't plan on having a costume with it, just me wearing the headband. But once I made my fun cute accessory, it got me super excited and thought I should just go all out, wear the outfit and do a kitty face ♥

So yesterday I wore my costume and took a bunch of pics, lol, I had so much fun being a cat, I really loved it, who knew! :)

Sephora Birthday Gift

Hi guys, long time no....blog, haha ^^

Any who, today is my birthday, and this is really the only gift I got, but I'm pretty happy about, because, it's NARS! :D

Most of my make up is drugstore bought, like $1 and $2 lippie products lol, so I'm so happy to have a HIGH END LIPPIE PRODUCT! Last yr, I did get the Makeup Forever Sephora Bday gift, and I realllllly loved the mini lipstick and mascara it came with, that was actually my first HIGH END MAKE UP PRODUCT! :)

Born Pretty Store - {Product Review + Nail Art Tutorial}

Hi guys!

This post/video is long time over due, I was supposed to post it in January, I actually filmed it over January, and saved it to my pc, and I was going to edit it out. But then uni started, and with a surprise, I got a mac (whoop) for my digital illustration class, and I quickly had to install it to get on with my assignments, so I didn't get to transfer my files from my pc to my mac, until months later, when I had some free time. I then edited my video on iMovie (yayyyyyyyy!!!!) lol, it has always been a dream to use iMovie, so yeah I couldn't believe I finally have it, and I still can't believe I have it, I'm pretty grateful. ^^ So yeah, I finally had some free time to edit and post the video up on youtube and make this post!

So, Born Pretty Store sent me bowknot rhinestones to make a review for, and I have to say, they're so CUTE!!! They're also really small, I will admit, for some reason, it was kinda hard to come up with some designs, but I managed to come up with this design, which is pretty simple looking and easy to do! :)
I absolutely love the bowknot rhinestones on my nails, they give shine and bling which makes it super fun for your nails! :D

Happy New Years guys, and with this I present you....POOP! lol

I've been busy making plushies out of felt, and this emoji all started for a friend, because the poop emoji is their fav so, I wanted for fun to make the poop emoji out of felt and give it to my friend!

This was my first plushie I have made and I love it so much, I'm happy it came out good, and I learned how to do a blanket stitch, thanks to this helpful tutorial :)

I had so much fun making the pattern, that I was like....why don't I make it downloadable for people to download and that they can make it themselves too! :)

This is just a pretty display of the poop emoji pattern, because I had fun makin it lol.

But here is the POOP EMOJI PLUSHIE PATTERN YOU CAN DOWNLOAD

Once you click on the link, you can download the pattern and it will be in a pdf form and then you can print it out OR you can print it directly from the download link! :)

How to Make The Plushie

1. Cut out the pattern pieces

2. Take 1 piece of the dark colored poop shape and the one lighter colored poop shape, stitch them together, I used a running stitch all around.

3. Now that you have the front of the poop stitched, you wanna add the eyes and mouth and stitch them, I used a running stitch, you can use whatever stitch you want. :)

4. Now you wanna add the stitches of the layers of the poop, by doing a running stitch, use a dark thread or embroidery thread. :)

5. Now time to put the plushie together, by taking the remaining dark poop felt shape (which will be the back side) and the stitched up emoji poop face(front side), you want to make sure they are aligned together, and you wanna now do a blanket stitch all around, but leave a opening, because you are going to add STUFFING! :D

6. If you don't have plushie stuffing (like me), you can use cotton balls.

So just stuff your poop emoji plushie and then continue to blanket stitch until you closed the 2 sides of the plushie! :)

I hope my instructions are easy to understand, I wish I did a video tutorial of this, it would have been a lot more helpful to understand, at least visually. ^^ But there are great basic tutorials on youtube, one of my favs is, Tammy Hallam, she's really easy to understand. :)

My Best Memory of 2014!

DVBBS were the opening act for Laidback Luke, and they were WILD AND ENERGETIC!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THEM, THEY WERE SO MUCH FUN! :D ♥
At one point while DVBBS were playing, it got sooo fuckin hott that EVERYONE WAS SWEATING! And I'm talking bout like heavy sweating, as if it was RAINING! LOL
I had drips of sweat fall from my forehead, overall my face was super sweaty LOL, and my SHIRT WAS SOAKED! I couldn't believe how wet my shirt was lol. Also as I was jumping to DVBBS, I felt something go down my legs and I'm like, "WTF IS ON MY LEGS?!" I reached for my legs and whoa lol, sweat was dripping! Yeah so I was drenched in sweat from head to legs, it was soo weird and shocking of how HOT IT GOT!
I looked around me, and everyone's faces were sweating, like it was so visible, I was like... :O oh my god....phew I'm not the only one LOL, haha. :P
But I cooled off, I think when Laidback Luke started his set. :)

Laidback Luke was a lot more chill, and I finally understood why everyone loves him when he plays live. I felt his down-to-earth presence? The way he plays his sets, he's so lovable lol, he threw up the heart hand symbol through out playing and I don't know, I just love how he interacts with the audience, it's so cute! lol :)
He was also very versatile in his music choices, he played some of his songs, I WAS SO HAPPY HE PLAYED MUFASA! I love that song from him! ♥ He played a classic dance song from the 90's, Robin S, that he remixed, soooo gooood♥, kid cudi - Pursuit of Happiness, some hip hop (thankfully he played hip hop, lol, everyone was chill, and I got to re-gain my energy lol), he shocked me by playing my new fav artist of 2014, KIESZA!! HIDEAWAY! I was sooo happppy when he played that song, and what realllly surprised me was when he played LINKIN PARK! (LP was my fav band as a teenager so, yeah it GOES WAY BACK FOR ME), and it was AWESOME TO HEAR AND SING ALONG TO, IN THE END, it def. brought back nostalgic feelings and memories. :)

Laidback Luke is so down to earth, he signed his signature on the glow in the dark paint "wall" :D

I had to take a picture of his signature and of me next to his signature, IT'S ONCE IN A LIFE TIME, AND I'LL NEVER HAVE THIS CHANCE AGAIN! :D ♥

I don't know what's goin on with my bottom lip... O.o I did not see that discoloration while transferring pics from my ipod to pc. O.o

I didn't eat the paint guys....lol.

OH BTW, I made the shirt, I DIY'd it, I made a stencil of the Laidback Lukes hands and made up the typography, I'm proud to say I designed the typography, I heart it so much! ♥

I painted the shirt in glow in the dark fabric paint! :D I had fun with it :D

But too bad, the shirt didn't glow :(, there was too much light at the show, in order for it to glow, it needs to be pitch black :( darn.

Again, since my camera was on self-timer, I had no idea what kind of pics were being taken and what weren't, just had to go with flow, I guess.

So I never got to post these pictures, but back in beginning of September, I went to downtown LA for an art project for my illustration class, and the assignment was to get out of my comfort zone, like my usual environment and go to other places/environments, and of course, me being a city lover, I could only think of non other than the CITY! :D It was that or either the beach, Venice beach to be exact, cuz how urban it is. But I chose LA city, and the whole theme of this was me shopping around, walkin the streets of downtown LA and being surrounded by city people as I walk the streets.

So I took my tripod/camera around with me, and plotted it around as I stood near by, put my camera on self timer and took pics of me walking around Maple street. :)

It was very FRUSTRATING to do this ALONE! Anna couldn't come with me, because she was crazy busy with her classes, so uh yeah, I did it alone. What also sucked, was that the self timer, I didn't know when it took a pic of me and when it didn't, because there was no flash, but my self timer makes a count down noise, but since I was away from it, a near distance, and there were many noises around, I couldn't hear squat! lol. Soooo I had no idea what kinda pictures I took and if I took pics I had in mind. I was able to review some pictures, but time was clicking and my camera batteries were low, so I couldn't stand around and review all the pics I took. I just had to continue taking pictures, and get as many, just so I can have a lot of choices and do something with them for my art assignment.

My Christmas Presents :)

I didn't get any presents, but I bought these two make up products from Sephora last month for myself. :)

I wanted to emphasize it's cuteness by making this lil stop motion lol *squeeee* ♥

I bought this Hello Kitty - An Apple A Day Lip Balm Trio for 20$ @ Sephora (sold out) and

I.REGRET.NOTHING! :D LOL

I won't normally spent this much on make up, buuuut I couldn't say NO TO THIS! The lip balm packaging is SUPER CUTE and the COLORS, I was honestly SOLD on the saturation of the colors!

At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy the lip balm trio, because of the price lol, buuuut when I tried the nude color (I'm usually wary of nude colors, because they never really look good on me, they make me look washed out or sickly lookin, because I'm fair skinned, so I usually stay away from nudes), but LOW AND BEHOLD, THIS NUDE HAD ME!

That's right, it took me a NUDE to get me to buy this trio set! LOL

One test try on my hand and I was like :O OMG THIS NUDE COLOR! IT'S SO GOOD! It went nicely against my skin color, it was just a nice balance, it looks like a nude that will fit anyone, I just fell in love with it, and couldn't believe I FOUND a nude that FINALLY FITS ME! :D

So with that being said, I'm very happy I bought this, and can't to wear these lovely colors!

Btw, this is my FIRST Hello Kitty Anniversary item I ever bought at Sephora, and booooy oh boy...I don't think it will be my last. I told Anna the other day, "I think every yr I wanna but at least 1 item from the Hello Kitty Anniversary from Sephora, I think they're worth it" LOL. *Sniff sniff* I smell a collection coming on, lol.

Sephora Collection - VIP Pass Eye shadow Palette (sold out)

This was an unexpected buy, I bought this eye shadow palette for 10$ and well, I just couldn't put it down! I reallly loved the packaging, I thought it was cute, and also loved the swatches. I did swatches on my fingers and they looked pigmented so I thought, why the hell not, I'll just risk it and buy it, Anna got one too lol. *Twin buys* lol :)
As I said above, I stay away from nudes and even so neutrals, I'm not a fan of neutral colors for make up, they just never show up on me, and I find them boring, I don't know, I never got into them. I much prefer BLACK FOR SURE and color! :D

So I can't wait to play around with this palette and do a review, hopefully it will be decent. ^^'

Here is my Christmas Nail Art tutorial, hope you guys will like it! :)

One thing I noticed about the snowflakes after I was done making the video, while though out the day, I noticed the snowflakes caught onto my hair and clothes. Like the sides of the edges of the snowflakes, it doesn't lay flat onto the nail, it's just lifted a bit. I got the snowflake on the pinky nail to lay flat on one of the sides though, but the rest, they are a bit lifted, maybe I'm supposed to bend it a bit and push it down more onto my nails. But other than that, it is a cute nail deco, gives it a nice shine and sparkle to my festive nails. :)

So I got a package delivery from Born Pretty Store, and this is what they sent me ;)

These bows are so tiny! ヽ(ﾟ〇ﾟ)ﾉ

I ALMOST trashed this!!!
I didn't realize this was one of the items. Because when I opened my package, this lil baggy package came out flying onto my desk, but it was facing the other way, and it had an item number sticker onto it, and I thought, 'Oh, it must be the item number for the brushes'. So I took out the brushes and the deco wheel and I then freaked out, cuz I didn't see the 3rd item until I looked through everything again and noticed that this was the 3rd package as I flipped to the snowflake side! And then I was like "Oooooh!" LOL :)
But yeah these are pretty small, but it might be like medium size on my nails, because my nail bed is narrow = small space (╥_╥) lol

Can't wait to use these! ヽ(♡‿♡)ノ

October Music Playlist! :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS! :D

I don't really have Halloween songs in my playlist, except 2 songs, the classic MONSTER MASH & Gragula by Rob Zombie. ♥♥ :)

I have to say music artists that I fell in love with this month was Meghan Trainor, she's got a cute voice and I absolutely LOOOVE HER MESSAGE behind the song "All About That Bass", so great and positive telling girls to love their bodies, "every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top".
It's nice to see a music artists talk about body issues like this, but also make it a fun song!
I also wanna add I love her sound is a bit retro like, you can hear it a bit in, "All About That Bass" and def. can hear the retro style singing/sound in "Dear Future Husband" :D ♥ Love this girl :)

I also fell in love with TINASHE.
I absolutely loooove her voice!!! So soft and beautiful! Her vocals remind me of Jhene Aiko.
My fav song of Tinashe is "Far Side Of The Moon", sooo beautiful! ♥♥♥♥

Another music artist I'm loving is MNDR, I've been a fan of her song, "Feed Me Diamonds" (RAC Remix though), it reminds me of fashion lol. But now I'm loving her song, "U.B.C.L", love her voice, how she sings and the sound of her songs, it's fun, and energetic♥ :) If you love electronic music, I think you'll love her :)

So yeah, that's what I've been listening to all month long! :) Hope you guys like my October music playlist! :)

And as for Halloween, I'm not doing nothing special, besides eating candy LOL, haha.

My Fashion Illustration Zine

Hey guys! :D

I wanted to show what I have been doing the past weekend for my illustration class. I made my own zine, although it's a COLORING BOOK ZINE! :D

My zine is based on current fashion trends, so this issue will be on what's trending for Fall'14, from off the runway and also a section on what FASHION BLOGGERS are wearing this fall! ;D

My zine will be completely hand drawn, I was inspired by the 1920's Sears Catalogs, where everything was all hand drawn in black and white and I always thought that was cool and wanted to do that one day, so here is that one day! ;)

I'm not entirely finished with my coloring book zine, there's still a lot to do with it, or I feel like there is, I'm still figuring things out, design wise with zines.

These illustrations are ALL HAND DRAWN, cut out and taped on to my card-stock zine.

I picked out my fav fashion designs from each trending category, there is still some other trends I gotta draw out, but yeah this is what I have so far. :)

Music Playlist of September!

My September started off with an oldish song that I used to listen to several yrs back and I'm sooo happppy that I found it on Spotify! ♥♥♥♥ It's Bellatrax - Can't Hold Back, it's a beautiful song with a beautiful vocal, or at least I think so :) ♥
And then for some reason I don't know why, but I felt like listening to Rihanna songs, listened to her songs throughout September, which then set me in the mood for listening to R&B with Aaliyah, who I miss oh so much! I miss her beautiful voice :/ ♥♥♥♥

So I wasn't really into listening to edm this month, I don't know, I checked out some new edm songs, and I don't know, wasn't feeling them. I found myself searching for old 90's early 2000's dance music, anything instead of today's edm honestly.

One last thing I want to say, I found it interesting how my playlist sorta starts off with Rihanna annnnd then it ends of with Chris Brown! TOTALLY UNPLANNED! Let me just say, I haven't listened to a Chris Brown song since the whole Chris Brown/Rihanna thing. But last wk, I saw his new song, Don't Be Gone Too Long and I saw that Ariana Grande was ft in the song, sooo I was like...hmmm...I love Ariana Grande, I'll take a listen. I didn't think I'd dig it, but I quickly FELL IN LOVE WITH THAT SONG!!! I think it's soooooo beautiful!!!!! I love the lyrics and the Chris Browns and Ariana's vocals together, so beautiful ♥ I think they should make more songs together. :)

Here is my long waited product review video for Born Pretty Store, it's a continuation of the nail polish review video post, and I was sent, the nail art stamper and the template. :)

I recorded this video Aug. 22 & 23rd, and Aug. 24th was my bday, and Aug. 25th my uni started, so I was left being really busy with uni and my classes, that I was unable to edit and finish editing the video.
