Next podcast episode is from DJ Roger, who lives in Taganrog and whom you may have already heard in RTPOD5 as a part of Digital Punks duo. Vladislav Molchanov was born in 1987. He joined the ranks of his hometown underground culture in 2006, and nowadays he still remains it’s faithful defender and keeper. He started playing schranz and hardtechno as a DJ in 2007, and in 2008 Digital Punks promo group (and DJ duo) was born. Currently, Vladislav prefers classic and experimental techno grooves, using vinyl and/or digital techniques. Speaking about the nature of modern minimal, through a cloud of tobacco smoke, a bad idea emerges – minimal turns into pop phenomenon, loses its face and becomes a soundtrack for TV-ads. Walking around the scrapyard of once a ‘real’ minimal, you often step on records of unknown artists and kick them, trying to get rid of the unpleasant residue, but…

Musicians around the world, counting money, adapt their music for the maximum number of listeners, and potential bar customers. But there are artists, adepts of post-minimal era, that work in their small flats, without the fear of tomorrow, that open their eyes to the inner contradictions of culture.

Pessimistic album ‘Minimal is dead’ by ‘Tantcui Tantcui‘ project (which means Dance Dance in Russian), grabbing the elusive tail of the idea of minimal, shows us full spectrum of soundings, ranging from simple loops-based tracks to experimental noise stuff. This music embodies the idea of liberation, disengagement from the laws, in the style of ghetto punk… Boys and girls with japanned hair won’t understand this, because we have our own, sick, concept of freedom… And we are proud of it, you suckers!

Sub is from the town Surgut which is situated in the middle of Russia and unofficially called ‘oil capital of Russia’. It’s a cold Siberian city, a place where native Khantia-Mansia ethnic group used to live, standing by the river Ob and surrounded by taiga. The climate is unfriendly there, and you can easily meet wolves in suburbs at night. Sub makes music since 2001, his first experience was drum’n'bass, and you can hear that by the fat basslines in his current production – excellent, massive but gentle rhythmic base is 50% of his success. Other half is the melodic draw-up. His music is filled with extra-terrestrial atmosphere, it has a lot of space within. It makes you dream of cold mysterious worlds with strange creatures and bizzare landscapes. It could be a perfect soundtrack for aurora borealis! Welcome to Siberia, the land of many secrets!

Next release on Russian Techno is a compilation of remixes on Neonicle‘s track ‘Serenade Of Cemeteries’ from all over the Europe. You may have already heard the original version on RTSW4 – moody, dark & melancholic electro track. We’ve decided to give away sample-pack to different good artists, native and foreign, and, after 9 months (it supposed to take not that much time by the way), all of the remixes were finished, mastered, and compiled. Long-awaited debut album of Neonicle is finally out. It’s our 13th release, we don’t take any omens serious, but it looked like something was against this release from the very beginning. Well, actually, the flash drive with WAVs was accidentally lost, and then the originals of artwork dissapeared. Oh, never mind, we finally geathered everything, and the album is online now! Neonicle is the young guy from St. Petersburg. Some facts about the author – he was expelled from the musical school because of misbehaviour, he also worked in a Nuclear Physics Institute on a reactor site, he likes mushroom grog and he is a very amusing person.

The Album opens with ‘I Dream’ – gentle and psychedelic track that somehow tells you that this is going to be a special ride – an incredibly brilliant piece in 13 parts. All the tracks are different but you can feel the author’s signature all the way the music goes on. His very own style is melodic, melancholic, mystic, simple and robotic. 100% synthetic voodoo ceremonial music. For dancefloor fillers check ‘Keep It Open’, ’5th Element’, ‘Sonic Crystals’, ‘Springtime’, ‘Cosmic Lowrider’. For perfect DJ-tools pick ‘Sonic Crystals’, ‘Alcoholic’, ‘Horror Shit’. Serge DJ Krot («a mole» in Russian) is from St. Petersburg. His production alias is Digital Damage. Half of his life he played techno music in all of it’s appearances – from Detroit to experimental. He began his experiments back in 1996 on tape reel players with custom built pitch control. We start our therapy with St. Petersburg-based RAIN, a new artist on RT. Simple and elegant electro sound, bright melodies to warm you up in the beginning of the session. Next is Neonicle – ‘northern’ capital electro punk. A bit of psychedelia and a drop of noize for you here. His album is coming out on RT in February and is gonna be a f###ing awesome! Moving further – 2 tracks from Vadz. More dirt, static electricity, and images of distant worlds. Just add more volts if you feel sad! Thorn MD hails from Moscow. He’s a doctor at the ICU in regular life and this is his first appearance at RT. 2 pieces of dark electro with sci-fi elements and dim voices end up our therapy session today. Our next podcast episode is finest techno coming from St. Petersburg-based DJ Hellper. Oleg Vinogradov was born in 1981. He was seriously cought by music in 1995, and his religion turned to techno in 1997 while he was listening to Jonzon playing on a big rave in St. Petersburg. Since that he started collecting records… and for now he has played in almost all the clubs of his hometown including other cities. His musical tastes spread from to Tresor and Drumcode to Gigolo and Kanzleramt. He’s truly devoted to the good old techno sound, respecting artists like Joey Beltram, Jeff Mills, Surgeon, The Advent, Cristian Vogel, Neil Landstrumm, Robert Hood, Steve Stoll and many others. Once upon a time i was working on a radiostation and we had a task to record some speeches for Emergency Department. So, an actor from the local theater was invited and all the instructions were spoken over the microphone. One record was about what to do if an incident on the Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant happens (check Google Earth or Google Maps). The text was scary and actual (Volgodonsk is about 260 km from Taganrog) and, of course, i decided to use it. That’s how the Nuclear Volgodonsk trilogy appeared. First, there were only 3 tracks, 2 with no vocals and sounding almost the same (part 1 & 2) and the third one, totally different, with instructions. Plus, DJ Spell from Moscow made a mind-blowing dancefloor-friendly-acid remix (which was then taken by Diggarama netlabel as a part of Mystique EP). I tried to release the whole EP, but labels i got connections with, showed no interest at that moment…

Time passed, i re-mastered all the tracks and added 2 more, similar in emotional sense, and decided to finally put everything together as an integral story. Listen to the warnings and be aware of the Power of Atom! Amen!

This is our tenth release, a kind of a small anniversary one and a cause for rejoicing. Netlabel celebrates it’s «2 years online» holiday with this release. Think of us when you drink vodka next time. Enjoy proper Russian Techno style! 4 artists, 8 tracks. All of them are different here, and every track has a character. Here we go:

First two are from Naj, who was born in Kazakhstan but now lives in Germany. Classic, dancefloor friendly techno of «Ex-p» and an offbeat explosion of «Black Dress». Hit hard, never miss! Second pair comes from Rostov’s Rubetz who brings sci-fi elements in «Resistance…» and a robotic trickery of «Razor». Check it, think it! Then we got 2 pieces from Vadz – serious pulsations of «Mechanoid» and simple but flammable beats of a «Crusher». Handle with care! Postapoclalyps Pop brings another two. «Electro stuff» is a tasty electro cut for a set start, recorded live, and a «Teely» is a bass-moving funky piece of cake. Play it loud!

‘The Godfather’ of Russian techno scene – Oleg Azelitsky aka DJ Slon from St. Petersburg presents his selection of actual techno records. Oleg is talented in many areas of art, he recently wrote a book and now finishes another one, but he earned his main reputation of course in dj’ing, and party-making. His company ‘Underground Experience‘ brings quaility to the dancefloor since the early 90′s. This set contains fresh modern-sounding tunes as well as some nostalgic old-school flashbacks. So, if you’re new to the whole techno thing – this one is a good point to start exploring from. And if you’re a veteran, i’m sure you smile by the end of his set. Di Arty is a DJ and artist from Novosibirsk. He’s known for his hard techno addiction, and IDM-inspired production. This release reflects his ‘harder’ side, and, as you can hear, every track has an experimetal touch, which makes RTSW8 a bit special. Ok, here we go!

First track – a tempting massive one with rude vocal cuts and distorted bass drum – a classic burner! Play it on a big party and be sure – you’ll get massive response! Second track – hi-frequency noise and agressive beats will definitely make you nuts. Who can stand this pressure? Forth tack is a restless cut with somehow funky rhythm line – sometimes it breaks, somethimes it lightens, but all in all – it’s strong and vivid! Summing everything up – this release will fit those who likes it in a bit harder way, not fast but not slow, on the edge. Slightly experimetal, with it’s own character. Enjoy another fine release from Russian-Techno.Com!

2000 Lights is an alias of Evgeny Light, well-known artist and DJ in the South of Russia. He usually prefers to play tech-house, minimal, and deep-techno stuff. Being a big expert in softer side of techno, his own production comes out very emotional and sincere. We’re glad to present you this release full of beauty and depth. Tracks were produced during various periods of time, some of them were even lost (and then found, of course). Music is melodic, rhythms are tender, tracks build up slowly, and the whole groove makes you fly up in the warm clouds of calmness and placidity. This release is a good ambience for creative work, for sure. Or, if you’re a DJ, you can use these ingredients wisely – just put one of them (or two or all) in your mix into right place and you will precisely get a vivid, full and finished story with a lot of colours, fancy shapes and shining forms to please any of you listeners. Lokodepo DJ-duo are 2 brothers – Anton & Igor. Their native town is Vologda, which, being norther, forms almost equal triangle with Moscow and St. Petersburg. Brothers studied in musical school during childhood. By 1995 they were listening to happy hardcore and various native electronic groups. In 2003 they bought their first turntables and records, and began researches in techno music and dance culture. They also organised a lot of parties and even festivals in Vologda and got invited to many gigs in other cities throughout the country. The sound of Lokodepo DJ-sets is 100% techno.
