In his first 911 call, he stated that his “entire stomach was in pain” according Dr. Ron Roth. His symptoms were judged to be non-life-threatening.

After two hours with no sign of the paramedics showing up, Mitchell placed a second call. He learned that an ambulance was stuck in the snow near a local bridge. He was asked if he could walk four blocks to meet the ambulance but he said his pain was too severe to leave his home sofa. His desperate cry for help was cancelled because he, the victim, was unable to walk through heavy snow drifts to and ambulance that should have been able to come get him.

It took ten calls to the emergency line 911 and almost thirty hours for paramedics to reach Curtis Mitchell. However, by the time they made it to his home, he was dead.

The fate of the whale that killed its trainer in Orlando, Florida yesterday has not yet been decided. This is the third time the animal has been involved in the death of a human. The trainer was petting the whale named Tilikum when she was grabbed by the ponytail and pulled into the water where she drowned. Earlier a policeman suggested she may have slipped and fallen into the tank, but members of the audience said that she had been dragged underwater by the whale. Trainers at Sea World said it was too early to say what would happen to the whale. SeaWorld has suspended killer whale shows at all its sites after Brancheau’s death. After similar incidents in the past, animals have often been transferred to another park.

Although this was a huge scare many scientists are trying to justify what made them think this tragady was coming Hawaii and most of the Pacific Island’s way. After the 8.8 earthquake that hit Chili they came to the conclusion that areas far from the epicenter never materialized.

This evacuation was the largest scale evacuation in Hawaii in years if not decades but fortunatly for everyone the tragedy was avoided.

Osmond’s teenage son, Michael Blosil, committed suicide on the 26th of this month.

He had struggled with depression and feeling alone until he finally called a girl friend of his saying there was a suicide note in his apartment. He then jumped to his death out the 15th story window; his body was discovered by a neighbor who then called the police.

Currently it is unbeknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in his death, but the autopsy will be coming out shortly to clear any questions up.

Budget cuts have been in the works for Jefferson, Douglas, and Denver counties; and a recent report by the Denver Post is another example of why they’re needed.

After keeping track of school spending school spending over 2009.

According to the Post, the three counties spent a total of about $280,000 on items like sandwiches and starbucks for receptions and meetings. Districts have also been spending thousands to send staff to conferences in places like Las Vegas.

For example, Jefferson County spent $580,000 on outside food and drink and even $3,598 for 80 staff to go on a retreat in Estes Park.

However, budget cuts are being put in place, as well as (unfortunately) teachers are being laid off because of an expected 6-8% drop in state funding, which will come around to about $20 million for Jeffco. So, whether it’s a good thing or not, money shortages are about to change things around our schools.

While Toyota made waves with its ever popular hybrid model the Prius, Nissan has decided to take the idea of hybrid cars and push it to the next level: Electric cars.

The Nissan Leaf, due to come out late 2010, its the first fully electric vehicle available to the general public. While other companies have released fully electric vehicles, they are so expensive that unless you’re a celebrity or the like, you really can’t get a hold of one. That’s where the Leaf is different.

The fully electric model holds 5 people comfortably, and offers all the qualities you expect in a regular car. There are a few changes however. There are no gas tanks, no tail pipes, and no harmful gas emissions. There is however, an extremely powerful battery, that at full capacity can take the drives 100 miles, without harming the environment.

While a specific price has not been released, it is simply said to “be affordable” for the common folk.

For more information, you can visit Nissan’s website at http://www.nissanusa.com/leaf-electric-car/index.jsp
