For some parents, decorating a nursery is one of the most enjoyable parts of preparing for baby’s arrival.  Choosing cribs, chairs, patterns, and paint colors; it is exciting to design a space especially for your sweet newborn.

I know parents put a lot of thought into these spaces as they plan for their little one’s arrival.  I remember sitting in the glider in my daughter’s nursery on the day it was delivered…  I sat back and took everything in as I imagined all of the rocking and feeding, dreamed about what she would look like, and wondered how it would all really be.

When I photograph newborns and babies, I love capturing them in these spaces and documenting the details of their nurseries.  While you might not feature a 20×24 inch canvas of the detail images on your walls, these photographs are perfect for including in albums (many of my Baby Plan families do just that!).  Your beautiful babies in their beautiful first spaces can be preserved perfectly this way, long after they grow into toddlers and teenagers.

NURSERY #1
This baby is one lucky little boy!  His graphic artist mama created this space especially for him, right down to the custom wooden nursery letters.  I just love the hot air balloons and the “Fly On” print on the wall!  (side note – you can check out more of her beautiful creations here and can follow her here to see her latest custom announcements and invitations!)

NURSERY #2
I absolutely adore this bright and beautiful space!  From the emerald green rocker to the adorable little ladder truck next to the crib, the pops of color give a playful feeling to this nursery.  And how clever is the “boarding pass” pillow?  This baby is in for a fun journey!

NURSERY #3
I love the details that mom shared with me about the third nursery in our contest…
“We just love our nursery.  It has a light bulb theme which was inspired by a picture my husband drew in the first grade which hangs on the wall.  Another one of my favorite aspects is that the crib bumper fabric matches the bedding on the double bed (which has been a lifesaver for long nights).”
Another beautiful space (I just love that bedding!), and it is so fun to hear the inspiration behind the design!

These handsome brothers were so adorable together.  Any mom knows how quickly such sweetness between a toddler and a new baby can turn to trouble!  But these boys were just complete sweetness together!

Well, hello there!  I love the freckles sprinkled across this little guy’s nose so much, I had to grab a quick close up of them when we were running around during our session on Saturday.  This little cutie is going to break some hearts one day, don’t you think?!

It was so great to see you again and meet your sweet baby girl, C. family!  I can’t wait to share the rest of your gallery with you!

It is always an honor to get to photograph a family more than once, and I had so much fun capturing this beautiful clan for the second time last weekend!

I just love the dreamy feeling of this one…  Such a gorgeous family, no?!

This was my second time getting to photograph this sweet girl and her family – and what a treat it was!  I had such a great time being silly and laughing together at our mini session at the National Cathedral last weekend!

This photo was shot just before sunset, and when I saw this smile in this light through my camera I think I actually gasped!  Isn’t she the sweetest?

This brother and sister were so adorable together!  Thick as thieves throughout our session, playing and laughing, and such a joy to photograph!

This sweet boy is starting to walk, and there is nothing cuter than those early walking days!   The “downward dog” way they stand up all by themselves, the way the stoop down to look at something on the ground – nothing is cuter!
