Group mastermind Wes Thrailkill told us that the name change was necessary to avoid confusion with other artists using a similar moniker.

A wise decision as things have been heating up for the trio. The band recently completed a national tour supporting Haken on their 10th anniversary — while out promoting their effort Progenies, a compilation of material from 2012​-​2016.

Now we’ve been told that album #6 is on the way for Thrailkill. It’ll follow up the band’s 2016 record Deviations, which was successfully funded by a Kickstarter campaign.

Later this month the band will be playing two shows during the week of NAMM. On January 27th they’ll be taking the stage in Anaheim, CA at Chain Reaction, and on February 3rd in Studio City, CA at The Fox and the Hounds. Joining them on both shows will be An Endless Sporadic.

Portugal. The Man and A Perfect Circle are the obvious picks. But there’s also David Byrne of Talking Heads, Fidlar, alt-J, Fleet Foxes and Cherry Glazerr.

Let’s not forget the headliners such as The Weeknd, Beyonce and Eminem. Plus a slew of other acts like SZA, St. Vincent and Odesza.

Sounds like a good time to us.

This year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will take place in Indio, CA on the weekends of April 13th-15th and April 20th-April 22nd.

Maynard and co. released a new track called “Disillusioned” to kick off 2018. It’ll appear on the band’s forthcoming 10-inch, which features the aforementioned track plus their previously released song “The Doomed.”

Last year APC inked a deal with BMG — with plans to release a follow-up to 2004’s Emotive. So far there’s no word on the full-length, but these two songs are solid precursors to get you in the mood.

So if you’re into vinyl, you can score the 10-inch at their merch store.

It officially hits streets on March 9th.

The band recently finished a trek with Thrice and Circa Survive, and announced a handful of 10-year anniversary shows. But speaking to the Strange Nerve podcast, the group said they’ve known the past year that things were coming to an end.

Frontman Jon Simmons said,

“It’s definitely a weird thing, when you do something for a decade… The only thing that sucks about doing the band full time — and then all of the sudden not doing it — is that you put all your time and effort into it. It’s your one thing where you put your life into…

Think about pushing a boulder up a hill for years… You have it halfway and you just walk away and it rolls back down… I think of it that way. It feels like there’s unfinished business.”

Simmons went on to say that there’s no bad blood between the members. Things just didn’t go the way they had anticipated.

In January the band will be doing a trio of East Coast shows celebrating 10 years. And in spring they will be doing a farewell show, which is TBA.

Balance and Composure formed in 2007. They’ve put out three full-length albums: Separation (2011), The Things We Think We’re Missing (2013), and Light We Made (2016).
