Nokia today initiated a charger exchange program in which consumers owning certain Nokia-branded chargers manufactured by a third-party supplier are recommended to exchange these chargers for free replacements. In India, this charger exchange program is limited to charger model AC-3E only, manufactured between June 15 – August 9, 2009, for one Nokia phone the Nokia 7210. This does not impact the usage or safety of the Nokia phone in any manner.

During a routine quality control process, Nokia identified a potential product quality issue with certain chargers manufactured by one of its third-party suppliers. The plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger’s internal components and potentially posing an electric shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket.

Nokia is not aware of any incidents or injuries related to these chargers. No consumer complaint has been received in India or globally regarding this issue and the charger exchange program is a responsible initiative to proactively inform consumers to exchange their chargers and safeguard them.

Only a limited number of charger model AC-3E manufactured by a third-party supplier between June 15 and August 9, 2009 are within the scope of the global exchange program.

For consumers to check to see if their chargers are part of this free exchange program, Nokia India has set up simple solutions that are accessible across the country.

A. IDENTIFYING CHARGERS TO BE EXCHANGED (only if you have bought a  Nokia   7210  after June 15, 2009): Consumers can identify whether their chargers are a part of the Charger exchange program in three ways:

These are:

1. A simple 3-step SMS solution:

Step-1: Every charger has a 27 digit code printed on it. Consumers are requested to Please Key in (CHG) SPACE (the 27 digit in the serial number of the charger).  Eg. CHG 4956279274091613752;0675370

Step-2: Please send this to 55555

Step-3: Consumers will then get a reply from Nokia ‘via sms’ that will inform them whether their  charger is included in this exchange program

This easy three step process will take a few minutes.

2. Starting November 10, 2009, consumers can also walk into any Nokia Care Center or  any Nokia Priority Dealership store (NPDs) across the country and check if their chargers are a part of this exchange program.

3. Consumers can also log into to http://chargerexchange.nokia.com and fill in their charger details and verify if the charger is part of the exchange program.

B. EXCHANGING IDENTIFIED CHARGERS:

For exchanging their chargers, consumers have the following two options:

1. Visit the nearest Nokia Care Centre: Replacement chargers are available at the 700+ exclusive Nokia Care Centers only across the country starting November 10, 2009.

For more information on Nokia Care Centers, consumers can call 30303838 with the Local STD code of the city that he/ she is dialing from.

2. Consumers can also fill in their address and contact details online on http://chargerexchange.nokia.com. Replacement chargers would then be couriered to the consumers.

Nokia recommends consumers with chargers within the scope of this exchange program to stop using the charger and exchange it for a free replacement at the earliest.

Nokia gave out hundreds of N900 to blogger around the world in October (Including our very own Ani ) to try and get as much feedback as possible before the they release it in November and as far as i can see most if not all of the feedback has be positive, everyone that i have talked to seem to love the n900, one person has even called it “the iphone with a real QWERTY” and in more ways then one that is what it is, not forgeting the 5MP camera and the 32 GB of storage features which the n900 have over the iphone. Moving on the n900 really does look like nokia’s best flagship device this year, some would even go so far to say it is what the n97 should have been but that it not what i think.

I was talking to my friend Matthew Bennett from N-Series-Us and the n900 popped up in the conventions and i asked him if the n900 was the best phone he had ever used and he basically said yes and that “Maemo is the future” during the conventions i said that “the n900 looks like its going to be a big hit” and he said its not the n900 that is the big hit but maemo, and  i though about a what he say for a while in fact i’m still thinking about it now, the question that i want an answer for is this ” what are people more interested in the n90o (The hardware) or Meamo 5 (The Software)? is it the 5MP camera or the smooth animations and the razer shape graphics? is it the side-out QWERTY and the kickstand or the powerful new maemo browser? and the big question if the n900 ran s60v5 and not maemo 5 would you still want one? which ever one it is the future looks bright for nokia.

Near Future as in 2010; thankfully the designers are not dating it like 2050 or 2200 for this concept! Anyways we are talking about the Persian Delight: Nokia CLIPit Concept Mobile Phone. Brushed steel and Persian turquoise stone encrusted, this phone proposes a bevy of features like finger print as your SIM, Touch pad-Dot matrix screen, hands free clip on design, and a combo of Philips Lumalive and conceptual “Smart fabrics” to blend out a 12”screen!

Design features of Nokia CLIPit:

• Finger print as your SIM.
• CLIPit has all the cell phone’s data web based and you can reach not only by CLIPit but from multiple devices like other cell phones, disposable cell phones, your car kit, your home phone and so on. The key is your finger print.
• On top of the CLIPit you have a steel touch screen made by a group of small Light Emitting Diodes installed in the steel touch pad. So you have dynamic buttons and can dial, send and receive SMS and navigate your music easily.
• You don’t need to hold the phone in your hand or use any other device like Bluetooth hands free. When you have a call, just pull down the clip and CLIPit becomes a hands free.
• The ear phones of CLIPit have two sockets. You can hang your CLIPit around your neck with them when listening to the music. Like a beautiful necklace made by turquoise and steel.
• The way to connect with other devices for CLIPit is to Clip it to them. You can clip it to so many things to have connection with them. For example back panel of public bus seats.
• You can clip the phone to any part of your clothes or your bag. You can hang it around your neck with its earphones. You can wear it like a Bluetooth hands free. And also it is enough small to put it in your pocket.
• PHILIPS has developed a new technology called “Lumalive”. They have fabricated some kind of cloth that has internal OLEDs and is quite a color fabric screen. The design team used a developed form of that technology in the CLIPit and has two fabric screens. The 3- inch screen is just a formable, flexible cloth that has a “Lumalive” screen as the upper layer. You can clip your CLIPit to this 3-inch screen and have a mobile phone with a 3-inch color screen. It is quite BIG for a mobile phone. But the 12-inch screen is a combination of “Lumalive” and a concept fabric called “Smart fabrics”. “Smart fabrics” are cloths with a net of sensors between its layers for touch sense. The net is cut able and the fabric can be cut or sewed. In fact smart fabrics are touching sensitive cloths. This fabric is combined with “Lumalive” and to become a multi-touch color screen. Clip your CLIPit to it and you have a folding pocket 12-inch laptop.
• The 12inch touch screen is also a medium for CLIPits to share their data with each other. Quite easy. Quite funny.

Today Im going to show you how to get a date with a little help from our best friend, the Ovi Store. Just a few minutes ago JBC over at Nokia Conversations has posted an awesome piece of news for the emerging markets, Indonesia in particular. Nokia has launched 5 new affordable and stylish devices in the ever green classic look. This might not be your cup of tea for those who are stuck on to the more high end devices viz Nokia N97, N900 but it is a much welcomed news for people who still have not seen the true power of 3G. Following are the devices with a few specs alongside.

The colour screen marks this out as an entertainment device whilst the changeable colour covers set it apart from the rest. Like the 1280, this device also sports a flashlight, FM radio and anti-dust keypad along with support for Nokia Life Tools, it’ll also be available in the first quarter of 2010.

Upping the ante a little comes the Nokia 2220 slide. Alongside the slide design comes support for Ovi Mail, enabling users to create email accounts directly on the device. Similarly, the Nokia 2690 sports support for Ovi Mail and both devices brag GPRS and MMS support and 1,000 contact address books. The €45 Nokia 2220 slide also features a VGA camera and is expected to ship before the end of the year.

Anti-scratch cover and excellent dust resistance make this a tough device. 22 days battery life will ensure it keeps going whilst additional features such as the flashlight, FM radio and a phone book for up to five different users make it eminently useful in rural areas. Like the other devices launched today, the Nokia 1280 also comes with Nokia Life Tools pre-installed.

Rounding out the budget range is the €26 Nokia 1800. Due to launch in the second quarter of 2010 the 1800 comes with a headset for listening to the radio on the move and multiple address books.

The Nokia 2690 is an entertainment device and supports up to 2GB of memory through its memory card slot. it also comes with FM radio and an MP3 player and users can get more from their music thanks to the addition of a 3.5mm jack. With 14 days battery life, the €54 Nokia 2690 is expected to ship in the first quarter of 2010.

Ever since I got hold my first Mac, support for my Nokia Devices have been a disaster. I miss out on a lot of cool stuff like the complete Ovi services via the Ovi suite ( Ovi Contacts, Share, Firmware Updater etc.)  So I decided to do this poll.
