This year passed by very quickly.

I was reviewing my Faith Goals for this year and not much has changed. And I know it's not because God did not answer my prayers, it's because I did not move.

But I know I don't have to wait for the new year to start over. I have every day, every hour to start over.

Thank you Jesus because you are faithful despite my unfaithfulness.

And I said, "not much has changed".. because I was focusing again on what did NOT happen.

There were still a lot of "answered prayers" event though I wasn't really prevalent in praying. And some big ones too.

Hello.
The past days I wasn’t feeling well. I don’t usually go to the doctor but this time I did. Thankfully, it’s just viral infection.
I took Thursday and Friday off, and got back today at work. And oh boy, first few hours already felt like a week! There’s just too many, and no one to blame but me. I am taking too many things on.
Things need to change or I will go crazy.
This is also why I am posting this again. Because, I know I need to spend some time to slow down and just collect my thoughts. And pray.
What worries me? What am I struggling with?
A lot.

This ain't a good second post for the year post, but it's also second day of prayer and fasting and I'm still feeling the stress I left off from work last year.

It gets frustrating at times and I don't know where to turn.

But still, I should be grateful for work and should not let this distract me from goal.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. ~Isaiah 40:31 NLT

I should be more comfortable now that I know God is with me.

Thank you Lord for the strength you will give me.

Hello, 2019!

So it has come to this. Blogging has become an annual thing for me. :(

As always I will try my best to be better in blogging this year. I realize now that this is important, because, now that I look back to 2018, I could not remember anything. And that is sad, right?

Isang Dekada, Rye and Sarah.

(Yup, did that just for the sake of rhyming.)

So last Saturday was 8.18.18 which means ten years ago, I made leap of faith and decided to be this man’s girlfriend.

I remember how difficult it was to make a decision.

Firstly, this guy has broken my heart before. LOL. Yes, way before. 7 years earlier from 2008. I’m sure I’ve written about it in this blog somewhere.

Second, I was very careful. I have my “standards” and Rye is nowhere near them.

Have you heard those clichés “I knew you were the one”? Well that didn’t happen for me, because I wasn’t really sure. What I knew that time is Rye would not take No for an answer.

What convinced me is when a friend made me realize how corny it is to keep denying that we’re not in a relationship when we spend a lot of time together. And, that it is not a good testimony for me as a Christian. So then, I said yes. I was clear at that time that saying Yes just meant “courtship”, as in “let’s see if this will work out, if not then we’re friends anyway.”

It may not always be the case but in this instance, I prayed for God to give me wisdom. I sought advices from my trusted friends and leaders. I weighed pros and cons! And then trusted that whatever decision I make, God will be able to see me through.

Looking back, I was just afraid of making a mistake. I was afraid to stray away from “God’s will”. If the decision I made was indeed a mistake, I have God to pull me out of it. At least in my heart, I know that I didn’t make a decision out of impulse or out of selfish need. I knew my heart was in a right place.

Well, I’m happy it turned out for good. I realized that Love is really a choice and a decision.

Goodness is better than Greatness

When I was in grade school, I was taught that the superlative of Good is Great. But probably not in this case.

Glinda: For the record, I knew you had it in you all along.
Oz: Greatness?
Glinda: No. Better than that. Goodness.

These lines are my favorite from the movie, Oz. Being Great doesn't necessarily mean that you are good. And being Good is always better than being great.

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? - Mark 8:36

Lord, may I always choose to be good; may I always choose to be kind. It may not always be rewarding, and people may not always understand, but help me focus on You and your purpose for my life.

PS. Never liked Michelle Williams, because I am a 90s kid and I loved Joey in Dawson's Creek. I haven't seen Broke Back Mountain, either. This is the first time I appreciated how pretty she is!

That Sunday on my way to church

Do you ever get those random flashbacks while in the shower? I do. A lot. And I don't know if this is God talking to me, but I often have those.

I just got this again the other day. And I felt that I need to put this into writing before I totally forget about it, so here it goes.

This is probably on the first quarter of 2008. Rye and I are not together yet. I was still attending a church inside the nearby village. I remember I was not in a good mood. I was already late and the pedestrian access going into that village was closed for some reason so I had to go around the block to their main gate.

Just when I was about to hail a tricycle, a car with a gold shade stopped in front of me. It was Rye, with his mom, and his brother. They insisted I hop in and they would drive me to my church.

I remember Rye's brother saying "sakto ah!" "(just in time!)" with a big smile. I think he knew this was no coincidence. I'm sure Rye would deny, but I too knew this is no coincidence. Earlier that day, Rye called me to ask if I have plans that day. He knew I was on my to church. And because I was running late, he deliberately slowed down their pace to get into this "perfect timing".

In the end, we're both late for church.

Hi Sarah. How are you?

I recently got this text message from a friend, and for a moment I found it very odd.

I send out messages like this when I feel like I haven't spoken to someone for a very long time and I have no idea as how she is. That is why I found it really strange that she's asking me this, when I actually know what she cooked for their family dinner last night.

Then I realized, my friend is more of a Facebook person more than an Instagram person -- and I don't usually post on Facebook anymore, and when I when I post on Instagram, it's kind of always random. I also realized that when I do get to see some friends, I always ask them about something they post in social media.

Social media has truly radicalized our lives. And, the phrase "Photo or it didn't happen." actually has some truth to it.

Nowadays, I see social media more as a marketing platform to sell news and promote an advocacy. I didn't realized that but by not posting anything on social media, I may have isolated myself more that I want to. At this day and age, consciously or unconsciously, we gauge how well a person is based on what they post in social media. So I realized my life has not as open to my family and friends as how I thought it was. I've always had that tendency to keep things to myself, and have always felt uncomfortable with attention, but without any social media presence, my existence can actually be forgotten. Haha. Interesting, right?

So, how am I? You know what, I am really good. Not as great as some people's social media life. But I am good. So good, I might actually post about it.

Internet is forever

I guess it is true what they Internet is forever.

What you post on the internet will forever be in the internet.

And today, because of the Memories and time hopping feature of some social media sites, I was reminded of this, again.

I have to admit, my blood rushed through my head once more. Anger came back and the got the urge to vindicate myself again. Ang kapal ng mukha to even get the nerve to talk back at me. And I still can't stand is how can she still still play as the victim after all of these.

I never knew how strong I was until had to forgive someone who wasn't sorry,

and accept an apology I never received.

From the recent posts it looks like it happened again to her. In my mind, she deserved it. But in my heart, I honestly feel for her.

I know I'm not getting an apology from her, and that's okay. I pity the girl. I hope she finds peace in her life. I hope she finds the love and joy she is looking for. I hope someone introduces her to Jesus. I hope she will open up her heart to Jesus when that day comes.

Oh this crazy bunch. I've known them since high school but some of them Rye has known since preschool days. We've grown a lot -- apart and together. Most of us are not who we are when we were high school, and yet we are still the same.

The photo is still incomplete are some are already overseas, and we do miss them a lot! I consider myself very blessed because of them. I will forger be grateful for this family.

This video is so hard to watch. I haven't finished watching it, to be honest. I don't have to finish it to understand its meaning.

Turtles are one of the most kind and most gentle animal in the world yet they have to suffer like this because I have to drink my drink from a straw.

But I still like to drink from a straw. It was still invented for a reason, right? That is why I was so happy when I found GoZeroPH selling reusable straws, and that they are so affordable.

They are selling 3 types of straws:

The Bent Straw (Php 50)
The Straight Straw (Php 50), which is our regular straw
The Milktea Straw (Php 75), which is a bigger and fatter one for well, milkteas

Each set comes with a brush, and you can also order a Tikog Pouch to keep them which handwoven by locals from Leyte. I ordered each straw type, because I use them depending on my mood. Haha.

Transacting with GoZeroPH was also a breeze. I placed an order, sent a screenshot of my deposit and the package arrived a day after.

So there, a small step that I hope could contribute to the safety of turtles.
