Finn and I made it out this morning for a quick playdate with Amy and Vivienne (the family whose home I photographed for Souvenir‘s Spring 2013 issue). They are great friends of ours and the two littles hadn’t seen each other for a few weeks, so it was especially exciting. Irvine Park is around the corner from me, and I hadn’t thought to take Finn there for the train ride or the petting zoo and pony rides, but I’m so glad Amy suggested it, as we enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Summer

About a week or two ago I turned in my contribution to the upcoming Summer issue of Souvenir. I collaborated with my talented sister, Morgan on the article and we have been itching to kick off summer ever since. The frequent trips to the beach photographing and scouting locations to share with the readers was some tough work, let me tell you – I mean someone’s got to do it. ;)

Anyway, we’ve been waiting patiently for the chance to go back and relax, and reminisce about our childhood summers spent there together. This memorial day was the perfect day for just that. I brought the camera along and captured a few (ok more than a few) images I’d love to share. Just looking at them makes me smile, and want to go back…

My heart was so full on this sandy beach with my loved ones close by. I see lots of salt water,

sandy bums, and ocean breezes in our near future.

I swear Finn has grown so much lately. He’s turning into a little boy right before my eyes. Just look at this soon to be 2 year old…

Our bathroom gets the best light and I couldn’t help but capture these images after a shower this morning. Add a hooded chicken towel, and there you have it… pure yummy goodness.

I’ve got a second birthday to plan and I can hardly wait! His birthday is in July and I’m already gathering ideas and saving inspiration.

Minor Bedroom Updates

Here are a few recent pictures of our bedroom I posted about yesterday:

As you can see, nothing major has changed, but again, I changed up the bedding and swapped out a few pillows. The small rug in the middle is really just so my kitty has a soft place to land when jumping off the bed. The large mirror I had in the front room above the fireplace for awhile has now made it’s way back into my room, as did St. Francis whom for now resides on my nightstand.

Master Bedroom

I think as far as my home decor goes, my master bedroom is the room I tire of the least these days. Even though I feel like my style is changing and my urge to purge lately is certainly affecting the rest of my home, the things in my bedroom remain mostly constant. I surround myself with the things I love the most in this room, old grain sacks, my favorite pillows, worn wood, antique furniture and botanical touches.

Although the room doesn’t look exactly like this today, I thought I’d share some more of the images I took for Creatively Made back in August…

I tend to waver back and forth in my choice of bedding… sometimes I go for the blue and when I feel like mixing things up for a bit, I will switch to red…

I actually bought a new linen duvet from West Elm a few months back, and a lovely cream and grey blanket to layer over it. I’ll have to take some updated pictures to show you all the changes.

A Boy and His Dog

One of the things I love about being a mom lately is watching Finn and our chocolate lab, Hannah blossom into lifelong friends. Hannah, went from being one of the worlds most spoiled dogs (complete with her own Easter baskets, Christmas stocking, and birthday celebrations) to being a big sister. It was traumatic for her – to say the least – when that fair skinned, bald-headed, chubby monster came into our lives. She avoided him like the plaque.

And now, they have learned to entertain each other, laying side by side watching cartoons, chasing balls, playing keep-away, and sharing snacks. I’ve been trying to document their love for one another on Instagram and wanted to share some of my favorites here on the blog. Enjoy:
