It is important to choose a car seat designed for your child's age and weight to give the best chance of escaping injury in an accident. There are three main types of car seats - infant car seats, children / child convertible car seats and booster seats. Here are the facts about car seat options and some tips for making educational purchasing decisions for each car-seat type: If your baby is less than a year old, he or she should ride in a seat looking back the car.
One option is to buy a rear-facing seat car (suitable for babies up to 20 pounds), that fits your baby during the first months and often comes with a handle for easy transport. And if you're looking for the ultimate in comfort, choose a travel system. Infant travel systems include a safety seat made ready and the combination of stroller.
The disadvantage in the car seat is that you will spend $ 60 to $ 150 on the seat and your child are exceeded in 6 months to a year. You'll have to upgrade to a convertible seat once the baby reaches 20 pounds. If this is a concern for you, you can buy a convertible seat that faces the back of her newborn and may turn to face the front of your baby once he or she reaches 20 pounds .
However, some parents feel that your newborn is "swimming" in a convertible seat and prefer to use a child safety seat until your baby gets big enough to sit in a forward-facing seat of the car. Whatever you decide to use for your baby, you will eventually need a convertible seat.
Whatever decision you make about whether to use a convertible seat for a day or use a child safety seat until your baby weighs 20 pounds, you have to buy a convertible seat at some point. Convertible seats are larger than infant-only car seats and are designed to grow with your child through the years. Most convertible car seats fit babies up to 40 pounds (usually around 4) and some are converted into a booster seat and are safe for children up to 80 pounds.
Convertible Car Seats in price from $ 80 to $ 300. For children weighing over 40 pounds and big kids need a booster seat. Booster seats are designed for children 3 years of age or older who weigh at least 40 pounds. They are designed to use the back of his car and shoulder belts. They literally drive your child in a position that makes it safe for the use of car safety belt system.
Booster seats are essential for the safety of your child because the use of safety belts in his car on a child without a booster seat can actually cause injury. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends that children who have overcome their convertible seats use a booster seat until they are 8 years and 4 feet 9 inches tall.
Some booster seats provide back support and you must choose one of these options if the vehicle seat is low or no head restraints. An unsupported option is fine for car seats that offer plenty of support behind the head.
Booster seats range in price from $ 60 to $ 200.

Children prematurely moved to seat belts are 4 times more likely to suffer serious head injuries during a collision than children in child safety or booster seats. Safety belts are designed for adults, and children under 4'9" tall should ride with a booster seat. The booster seat message is a crucial one, NHTSA estimates that up to 90% of children in the US who should be using a booster seat are not. The goal of this campaign is to educate parents of children who have outgrown their child safety seat that a booster seat is a life-saving transition to an adult safety belt. The campaign produced psas with Disney, featuring Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother, that were released in October 2005. The Booster Seat Education campaign launched in February 2004 and is a spin-off of the Safety Belt Education campaign.

When you first start, in search of a car seat can be both daunting and mind boggling. Without knowing which seats are best suited for your baby and affordable can be stressful and hard work. I mean there are all these features when all you really want is convenience and total security suitable for your baby.

And if your like me, I assure you I make the wrong decision and then regret it.

When I started to watch the baby car seats I thought of myself, "I go for comfort or safety?". The obvious answer is safety. As I continued my research all the data pointed to the Cosco Scenera Convertible Car Seat, confident that the comfort was not the best, but security was rated first class above all makes!

After reaching a conclusion, or at least be close to my final decision, the final factor was the price because he could not afford anything expensive but I was willing to stretch a little to ensure the safety of my son. For my money the Cosco Scenera Car Seat had a price that could not go down and my mind was!

Safety was not the only factor! Although he played the biggest role. . .

Other bonus points involved atleast decent comfort, ease of placement and adequacy. I mean if there was atleast a clue of what I'd still be wasting my time, because although the baby could be safe, I know that would bother him and misplaced.

I'm not knocking other brands, nor am I saying that observe features as an integral part is wrong, only that your child's safety must come first above everything. Once ordered that, you can begin to see the features included.

What do you consider the most important factor when choosing a baby car seat, or safety features? I know mine's safety;)
