So been chugging away at a commission (hope they like it). it has been fun and difficult at the same time due to the subject. I hope to get started on my new birdie next week. The rest of the week have to finish the commission. I may get some framing done too – depends on how my back feels.

I did onload my new shipment of paper – and found a new paper I am in love with. it is such a beautiful blue!

SO here is the drawing for the next piece I’ll be working on for myself – a little bee eater. He is green and yellow and makes me happy.

{click image for larger version} Another pretty lady is completed. This one is inspired by my friend Christie who pointed out I do not create a lot of blondes. It did take me over 6 months to get started on the actual cutting – but I think it was worth it. It is always fun to watch things get put together. I tried to document each step of the way – but only did that a few days, I’ll be putting together a video of what I did document to share.

The piece is roughly 8″ x 11″ and will most likely go into an 11″ x 17″ frame.

This piece was made for The Hukilau’s, “Bon Voyage – Sailing the South Seas” This show will be part of the The Hukilau event in Ft. Lauderdale, FL from June 6-9, 2013. All the proceeds from this show are benefiting Abandoned Pet Rescue of Fort Lauderdale.

So made good progress today. Would have gotten more done but I putzed around for at least an hour in the studio today – had trouble getting focused. There are fit issues to work out with the stone work – but there are usually fit issues that I make work. Pretty happy with the texture of it all.

Made good progress today, got Christie’s suit all textured and assembled and got her dressed in it. You may notice she is missing fingers and toes – those are separate pieces and I did not cut them yet, b/c I do not want to lose them. Also got her hair started, got about a third of the piece completed – forgot how long hair takes. Though feeling good that this should be done – or really close by the end of the week.

So have been staring at this drawing for almost 6 months now, though after finishing up the little doodles – and then wasting an hour I looked up and thought – now I am ready to work on this. I made a good start on this, should be able to get it finished after a few studio sessions. I forgot how tedious making fabric is, but I know at the end it is worth it.

{click for a larger image } These works are all about experimenting with background textures. I really like how these turned out. They were pretty simple cuts – but these were surprisingly time consuming. Though they helped clear my mind a little bit and I had fun with these, they just make me smile.

Each canvas is 5″ x 5″. Each panel is $50, but all three for $125.

Man these are slow – I would finished a bird by now! Though I am very happy with these. Hope to get the last panel done tomorrow – I know the shape I want to make, but not 100% sure of the color yet.

I knew this needed a little something. I played with shapes and I like the subtleness of the addition, but really think it makes all the difference. The yellow/magenta one is the second one – it is obviously not finished yet – but you can see the idea. I will continue with the lines and dos from the top panel.
