Acabo de voltar para casa depois de passar 5 dias em Marrakesh.
Uma viagem que me levou a um outro mundo. Literalmente.
Marrakesh é única e simplesmente prefere ignorar a Revolução Industrial.
Quase tudo lá é ainda feito a mão, artesanalmente.
E você não irá somente ver que as pessoas vivem de uma outra maneira mas também poderá provar essa diferença. Nos sabores dos pratos servidos, nas cores das especiarias, nos mercados onde muita coisa é vendida simplesmente no chão e nos pequenos comércios onde o ofício é passados de pais para filhos através das gerações.
Caótica, barulhenta, agitada, as ruas de Marrakesh vão incomadar aquele que resistir ao contato social.
Porque as pessoas irão com certeza lhe abordar, perguntar de onde você vem, tentar falar todas as línguas possíveis para claro vender algo, ganhar algum dinheiro e fazer o dia passar.
Mas não é preciso se assustar porque muito de tudo isso é simplesmente um teatro, um show. E se você conseguir relaxar, e ao invés de evitar o contato usufruir dele, verá que caminhar pelas ruelas da cidade pode também ser muito divertido.
Como toda cidade de comerciantes, Marrakesh é nos primeiros momentos uma pura tentação ao consumo. E seus habitantes sabem disso.
Eles conhecem como ninguém a fraqueza consumista dos ocidentais e irão sem pena nem dó usar todos os recursos possíveis para seduzir os turistas a comprarem mais, muito mais do que precisam.
Eu pessoalmente escolhi me render pela boca e não exitei quando vi que o Riad onde estava hospedada oferecia um curso de culinária local.
Raja, uma marroquina de voz suave e mãos fortes me levou primeiramente no mercado, onde compramos frutas, legumes, e os ingredientes mais frescos e cheios de sabores que já experimentei.
Depois ela me apresentou ao seu açougueiro, um homem gentil que sorriu para mim enquanto oferecia mixiricas a um menino que chorava agarrado na roupa de sua mãe, uma outra cliente.
Para terminar fomos buscar as especiarias que sem duvida são muito mais do que um detalhe na jornada dos sabores. E voltamos para casa, cheias de sacolas e nos deliciando comendo tamarindos que desmanchavam nas nossas bocas.
Depois disso ficamos um par de horas na cozinha, preparando os pratos e mais outras tantas esperando tudo cozinhar lentamente, como é a maneira tradicinal de se fazer tagine.
No final sentir os aromas e degustar o resultado dos sabores locais foi uma experiência impagável.

I just returned home after spending five days in Marrakesh.
A journey that led me to another world. Literally.
Marrakesh is unique and just chooses to ignore the Industrial Revolution and insists to do almost everything by hand.
You will immediately see that people live totally different from us but you can also taste this difference. In the flavours of the traditional dishes, in the colours of the spices, in markets where things are sold simply on the floor or on the small shops, where the craft is passed from parents to children through the generations.
Chaotic, noisy, bustling, the streets of Marrakesh will annoy who resist the social contact.
Yes, people will approach you for sure, ask where you come from, try to communicate in all sort of languages and of course try to sell you things.
But do not be too alarmed because much of it is just a theatre, a show. And if you can relax instead of avoid contact, if you can enjoy it, you'll see that walking the streets of the city can also be a lot of fun.
Like any city of merchants, Marrakech is in the first days a pure temptation to consumption. And its inhabitants know it.
They know very well that the weakness of Western is the consumerism and without pity or compassion they will use all possible resources to entice tourists to buy more than they need.
I personally chose to surrender trough the mouth. And did not hesitate when I saw that at the place I was staying, a Riad, they offered a typical Moroccan cooking class.
Raja, a soft-spoken Moroccan woman with strong hands took me first to the local market where we bought fruits, vegetables, and fresh ingredients full of flavours.
Then she presented me to her butcher's, a friendly man that offered mandarins to a crying little boy next to us. And to finished our journey we went to buy the spices. A very important part and definitely not only a detail of the whole thing.
It took a couple of hours to prepare the dishes and a few more for them to be done.
The slow cooking is the normal process to make the traditional Moroccan tagine.
At the end to smell the aroma and taste the local flavours of the result was priceless.
That’s why I decided to post this video of Jamie here. With it you can see a little of how people live and eat in the streets and houses of this legendary place.

Cindy é perturbadora e sim, é dela o rosto por trás da nova Coleção Outono 2011 da MAC.

Most brands of cosmetics use beautiful models to impress other women about the effect of their products. Suggesting in a not so naive way that their products will leave them wonderful too.
Seems obvious but the technique impresses, and sells.
But the trendy make-up brand MAC has always chosen other paths. His models include Lady Gaga, Missy Elliott, the drag RuPaul and Elton John, leave us puzzled. After all who is this woman that wants to look like Elton John?
The company that presents its campaign as a statement, a manifesto, wants to communicate with all those whilling to be different, to be transformed. An idea that goes far beyond from simply being beautiful.

She has always been the subject of her own work and earlier this year sold a self-portret for U.S. 3.89 m. The highest price ever paid for a single photograph.
Cindy is disturbing and yes, she is the new face behind the Collection Fall 2011 from MAC.

Não faz muito tempo alguns blogs sobre design publicaram fotos com peças da tradicional fábrica de móveis holandesa Pasto. Eu fiquei babando.
Para minha surpresa ontem recebo o catálogo de uma loja de departamento famosa aqui, a Bijenkorf, com a tradicional liquidação chamada ‘Os 3 dias Malucos’.
E lá estava uma estante Pastoe ( foto 4) por 220 euros!
Tentação…

Not long ago some blogs published photos with pieces of a traditional dutch furniture factory called Pastoe. The pieces: simply chic and timeless.
To my surprise, today I get the catalog of a famous department store here, Bijenkorf, with their traditional sale called ‘The 3 Crazy Days’and…there was, a shelf Pastoe (photo 4) for 220 euros!

Estou querendo trocar a minha cozinha e ando visitando algumas lojas especializadas no assunto.
Vi tantas opções e tanta sofisticação. A pia, a torneira, a geladeira é tanto de tudo que quase cheguei a conclusão que não é mais possível ter uma cozinha normal, que cumpre sua função.
Ai encontrei essa casa no Designboom.
Me deu um alívio... Sim ainda é possível ser simples!

I want to replace my kitchen and I've been visiting a few specializef stores.
I saw so many options and so much sophistication. The sink, the faucet, the refrigerator. Is so much of everything that I almost came to the conclusion that is no longer possible to have a normal kitchen, which fulfills its function.
Until I found this house on Designboom.
It gave me a relief ... Yes, it’s still possible to be simple!
