That’s the argument Dana Blankenhorn makes:

Mayer now has a team that works the way she wants to work, the way she knows Yahoo! has to work. And she can demonstrate that work style to the men and women who will decide whether Yahoo!’s media ambitions, and its advertising ambitions, have traction.

Bob Dylan made beautiful words as well as melodies. In his opinion, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.”

Treat every day as a space for doing what you love. Eg. Trolling the internet for charts! I know reddit can be a scary place, but I do recommend exploring the depths of r/Charts, r/DataIsBeautiful, r/Infographics, and of course r/QuotesPorn!

Happy 72nd, Mr. Zimmerman.

"If a school board deems Toronto Mayor Rob Ford unfit to lead young men as a football coach, it seems..."

“If a school board deems Toronto Mayor Rob Ford unfit to lead young men as a football coach, it seems odd that he should be considered fit to lead the city – in the absence of a serious explanation about the drug allegations hanging over his head.”

- Yesterday’s Rob Ford editorial from The Globe and Mail is exactly right (worth nothing the editorial board also slyly compared Ford’s behaviour to North Korea the day before)

fotojournalismus:

Its time for CHANGE.

I’m convinced Roseanne Barr’s role as Portland’s temp mayor was a tip of the hat to Toronto and its experiences with Rob Ford:

She’s perplexed by how many people ride bikes. And there are so many boutiques. ”Where are the malls, and the big box stores?”

Formerly bridge was the only recognized method of coaxing money out of one pocket into another. Now Mississippi Marbles play the role of the great kale transferer. Galloping Dominoes have at last come into their own in the high life. In short, Toronto society is shooting craps.”

- Ernest Hemingway, writing in the Toronto Star 93 years ago today.

3 things Toronto needs to do fix itself

The following is from Richard Florida’s column he wrote on the “Rob Ford embarrassment” and a “broken Toronto”

Most of all, we must acknowledge that Mr. Ford is a symptom of a set of much deeper maladies. Before Toronto can put itself back together, three key issues must be addressed:

First is the fact of a weak, dare I say, powerless mayor’s office. …

Second, we need to become a more unified city. …

Third, the city and the region need grown-up leadership. …

Not sure I agree with the first point, though. Had the former mayor, David Miller, pushed for strong mayor powers, Rob Ford could have done more damaged to Toronto than Godzilla does to Toyko.

"The Xbox One can be controlled simply through voice commands and body gestures.
