Hey there! Happy Friday! Before I get onto the Sailor Moon news roundup, some site info! (Yay!)

You've probably noticed a few changes in the site since your last visit (unless you visited 5 seconds ago). I realised that the mac version of Photoshop and the mac as a whole dilutes the colours of images when taking screenshots and saving them. Strange I know as I don't think that serves a purpose at all. Found a way to save the images properly though so resaved all the layout images to make Moonkitty.net look super colourful and sparkly. Can you see the difference?

I've also been fiddling with the side navigation. So much so that if you've visited the site every day this week you would have seen a slightly different variation of the layout! While I loved the two thick column look I've reverted back to the three column design which just functions a lot better and makes the site look more professional.

I've also rewritten the welcome message to make it more concise, added a site search (which I think I already mentioned last time but it's really worth trying) and added my latest Tweets to the nav as well.

Speaking of Twitter, a big hello to my (over 300!) followers! Have got some great site feedback and Moonie Mailbag questions from you guys that I'll be answering this weekend! Cheers!

In other site news, I've also completed all the DVD reviews for the Sailor Moon S Heart Collection DVDs with Sailor Moon S Heart Collection DVD #4, Sailor Moon S Heart Collection DVD #5 and Sailor Moon S Heart Collection DVD #6 finishing them off!!!

Each DVD review has full screencaps of the DVD menus and images of the covers. Hope you find them useful!

I've also added links to Amazon.ca in the shopping guide for all the Canadian Moonies on here. The site also has some Sailor Moon items in stock that Amazon.com doesn't actually so everyone should have a look every now and then.

It's taken a lot of effort and even a computer crash over the last month or so but finally... finally I'm happy and proud to present to you Moonkitty.net's 100% Complete Sailor Moon S Illustrated Episode Guide!!!

All 37 anime episodes from Episode 90 to Episode 127 now have summaries, screencaps and miscellaneous trivia on their own specific pages.

I've also completed guides for all 11 opening and closing credits and the Sailor Moon S commercial bumpers / eyecatches!

The Sailor Moon S Movie: Hearts in Ice has also been done as well!!!

I'm so relieved that it's finished!!!

Bit of a late Moonie Music Monday but wanted to finish some site updates to post along with this amazing performance!

English speaking Sailor Moon Musical fan productions beware! These German fans will really show you how it's done!

Great singing, choreography and an inspired decision to have the Outers in their manga planetary princess dresses! Brilliant!!!

I've been amazed at the response to the Moonie Mailbag! A lot of people have been sending in questions this week and some of them are pretty good questions too!

Questions answered today were In what episode does Rini (Chibi Usa) transform into Wicked Lady (Black Lady)? & Has Sailor Moon impacted or helped shape your life in anyway?.

I'll be answering a few more as the day goes on so you may see a few empty pages for some questions but they should only be like that for an hour or so.

There's a cool new behind the scenes cip from an upcoming Sailor Moon fan film online!

Speaking of Sailor Moon fan films I just found this one; Sailor Moon Scarifice which is made by doing some great editing of the original anime to make a new storyline featuring Sailor Moon's sister! Sounds a bit corny at first, but man check out this trailer! Cannot wait for this!

Speaking of fan films I can't wait for: the official blog of that spectacular German fan film has updated with some great photos, a poster and info in English and German! Yay! Check these guys out if you haven't already!

Star Dusting has updated with some great new screencaps!

It wouldn't be Friday morning without the latest Moon Sticks comic! This one features Hotaru / Sailor Saturn and doesn't disappoint! So cute! If you love Moon Sticks as much as I do, stick around as I'm conducting an interview with Chibi Jen that should be online this week sometime!

God, I'm so happy with this new layout, especially after fixing the side columns last week! I can't stop looking at it! Yay!

Have been going into turbo drive with the Sailor Moon Episode Guides these past few days, writing heaps (and I mean heaps of new episode guides) but haven't got them online yet as my imac DVD drive is busted. Will be buying a new external drive on Monday (PAY DAY!!!) though so you should expect a HUGE content update in a few days time.

Now, is it just me or has the Sailor Moon fandom become really active these past few months? Quite a few fan films coming out or in production and a lot more websites seem to be updating this year than last year. Just goes to show that Sailor Moon isn't a fad after all!

Well, it's that time of year again when I feel like watching the live action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon again! So I went YouTubing (yes, that's a word!) for a PGSM music video and watched a lot that had footage from the show with popular Top 10 chart songs but then I found this one that actually used the opening theme song! The editing isn't that fancy and there are the occasional subtitle but the clips shown really do capture the mood of the more happy episodes of the series and left me with a very satisfied feeling after it had finished. Enjoy.

On a side note, what's with all the 5 minute music videos that feature one minute "opening intros" and two minute "credits"???

More Sailor Moon Mobile Goodies!

Did a bit of adjusting with the layout this morning. Looks a lot more cohesive now with slightly less scrolling and my stars I originally was going to use with this layout when I first launched it! Personally I really like the changes but let me know what you think!

Also with the adjustments I added 12 new mobile phone Sailor Moon wallpapers for your enjoyment and by request!

Also got around to splitting up the Sailor Moon Channel Archive into sub-pages to cut down on scrolling (the scroll bar was almost disappearing there was so much scrolling!). I also added the new official site layout for June which you can find here with the other 2009 layouts.

Something else that's new is the new site feature, the Moonie Mailbag, a section where you can email me questions and I'll answer them there. Found myself answering similar questions over and over again on the email so hopefully publishing the answers on their own page will be more educational (edutaining?) for everyone.

Sailor Moon Roundup: Sailor Moon Fan Films!

Strangely enough, even though the Sailor Moon anime finished about 10 years ago, this year has shown some huge activity in Sailor Moon fan productions!

Last week I mentioned this Sailor Moon Musical Fan Film and this fantastic looking film from Germany well this past week I've discovered three more Sailor Moon fan films in production!!!

The first one I found was Sailor Moon & the Return of the Shadows which is using green screen to make some full on cg scenes! They don't seem to have a website, only the YouTube page unfortunately so there's not much info available.

The next one I found was The Last Soldier by Fairydust Productions. They've got some very cool costumes, direction and special effects going on and a very interesting storyline!

Can't wait!

The third one I found really surprised me! It's a Sailor Mars Series that's already up to it's second episode! It's based on the live action Sailor Moon series and continues the story of Sailor Mars using great special effects (ckeck out the transformation scene!!!), music and filming techniques that mimic the official series really closely! 5 stars!

If anyone knows of any other Sailor Moon fan films, let me know!

In other Sailor Moon fandom news, Moon Sticks has her latest comic up, this time featuring the Amazon Trio!

And the fantastic Stars Fan Dub has their second adaption of Sailor Stars online! This project is BRILLIANT! If you haven't checked it out, do so now! Seriously, if Sailor Stars never gets dubbed officially I'd be more than happy to see these guys do it!

Sailor Tiger's Grotto has some new images online.

Moonkitty.net got three new affiliates this week; Star Dusting, Izumirika.com & Ayaka502.net! The later of which reports that Ayaka (PGSM's Venus) and Keiko (PGSM's Mars) will be starring together in a new Japanese tv drama! Keiko's role seems to be one of the main roles (she's HUGE now in Japan!) while Ayaka's seems to be in more of an extra role. The show is called "Buzzer Beat ～ Gakeppuchi no Hero ～" or "Buzzer Beat ～ Hero on the Edge ～" and will air at 9pm Mondays starting in July.

What else happened this week? Ah, that's right! The Official Sailor Moon Site updated with a new layout, game and mailbag. Interesting to note that one of the letters was from a non-Japanese person. Unfortunately the content itself was not so interesting.

Funimation News + A Challenge

I have always been a strong supporter of buying series from official sources (which is why you won't find any links to Sailor Moon fansubs or torrents on this site) and was always planning to start an online campaign once it was "officially announced" Sailor Moon was being redubbed or rereleased encouraging Sailor Moon fan sites to take down links to manga and episode downloads to support the series which would prove to the higher-ups that there is a market for Sailor Moon which in turn would result in more Sailor Moon being released.

This is especially true in Japan where due to the different business models there companies end up making most of their income from DVD sales. In fact it was officially stated that because the PGSM live action DVDs sold so well they decided to produce the Act Zero and Special Act DVDs.

The reason I'm bringing this up now is due something that happened yesterday.

You know how Funimation is considering redubbing and rreleasing Sailor Moon in the US? And how they did a poll a year or so ago asking if people would like to see a subtitled Sailor Stars viewable online officially?

Well Funimation was going do something very cool last night (US time) that would have been the first step towards a rerelease of Sailor Moon being a reality... but the fans screwed it up. BIG TIME.

Here's the official statement from Funimation concerning what happened:

As anime fans know, FUNimation Entertainment and Toei Animation had planned for the first ever online simulcast of the series ‘One Piece’ tonight at 9:00 pm CDT., just one hour after its premiere on Japan's Fuji Television. Unfortunately, in the last 24 hours we have determined that the FUNimation servers were compromised, even though we employ strict security standards. An unknown individual accessed and posted episode 403 online and as a direct result of this illegal act, all U.S. and Canadian fans will be deprived of access to this great anime series for the immediate future. We will make every effort to locate and prosecute the perpetrator(s) to the fullest extent of the law and will provide updates regarding this most serious matter.

This could have been the beginning of something amazing for English speaking anime fans, but someone decided they couldn't wait 24 hours for a FREE officially subtitled anime episode officially released subbed one hour after it aired in Japan!

Obviously this has impacted the experiment as they've now removed One Piece (the anime in question) from not only Funimation's website but Hulu and Joost as well. And it's not only an episode or two... they've removed the entire series.

Funimation and Toei are the two companies that would have released Sailor Moon and Sailor Stars and now perhaps, it may not happen.

This literally happened hours ago so I'll keep you updated on any developments.

Needless to say, if and when Sailor Moon and Sailor Stars are officially announced as being released, stop downloading and wait for what you've wanted so long for.

Lots happening this week in Sailor Moon news!

My new affiliate, Socal Sailor Moon has a brand new layout (up within the last 24 hours!) which is REALLY nice. These are the guys doing the Sailor Moon Musical Live Action Movie so make sure to check them out.

Speaking of Sailor Moon Fan Films, Sailor Moon Obsession, which is a GREAT Sailor Moon blog, reminded me of this German fan film and I can seriously not wait for this! Agreed. Sailor Uranus looks amazing!

The latest Moon Sticks (which I keep calling "Chibi Sticks" for some reason) comic strip is online! As always, hillarious!

Feel like a laugh? Sailor Moon Abridged has bloopers online! Sounds like so much fun!

That promising Sailor Moon Supreme I mentioned last week has uploaded the first volume IN ENGLISH! Remember that English isn't their first language and you'll get a lot more out of it.

Great news for Gaia users (like me!) They finally have REAL Sailor Moon items! Cosmic Moon Broach, Sailor Moon hair and hair clips! SUPER RARE though! If you get one.... give it to me. 'kay? ;)

Pretty cool! Just added Sailor Moon Mobile Wallpapers & Sailor Moon Mobile Ringtones! A site first!

Wallpapers currently feature images from the anime and live action but more will soon come. The ringtones showcase tracks from the English and Japanese version of the anime as well as the live action show.

They should work on most modern phones. If you have any trouble using them, comment below. If you like them and want more.... also comment! haha.

Also cleaned up the Music page and added a donated fan version of Carry On (Well worth a listen!) and removed and added more links to the outgoing links page (a work in progress).

I'm so hyped up for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen that I've got Transformers crazy! Ripped out my DVD of the original animated Transformers Movie and am now on a real Stan Bush high.

Coincidentally the guy who sang The Touch and Dare in Transformers also sang She's Got the Power in this episode of Sailor Moon R! Pretty cool connection considering how much both of those shows have influenced my life!

Sailor Moon Redubbed? Sailor Moon Roundup

Funimation to redub Sailor Moon anime!?! Thanks to this topic over at the new (very active now) Genvid forums, I became aware of this new poll at the Funimation website asking fans which series they would like to see dubbed and an option is, "Redubbed Entire Sailor Moon Series".
Head on over there now and let our voices be heard! Even if you're a HUGE fan of the existing English dub like I am (really like DiC dub!) vote anyway to show how strong the fandom still is! If anything it may get an English dub of Sailor Starsand an official Subtitled release using the new digitally remastered Japanese sources! Could also mean a release of the rereleased Sailor Moon manga!

Also thanks to Genvid, I came across this great post about the changes in the new manga! I had no idea there were so many! Check out the new broach and redrawn panels!!!

Lots of site updates this week!

Finished cleaning up the Sailor Moon Wallpapers pages. A lot less scrolling now and easier navigation with added menus at the top and bottom.

Also cleaned up the Sailor Moon Icons by splitting them up into separate pages for less scrolling, faster loading and a better overall experience. Added menus at the top and bottom of each page here as well.

Completely revamped the Site History / Layout Archive with a new design I'm very happy with. Several different "eras" now to make navigation easier than having everything on one page like it was before. Travel back in time and see what Moonkitty.net was like in years gone by! Also finally added info about the previous layout and the new one that you see right now!

Moved the DVD Spotlight up under the Episode Spotlight. Looks heaps better now.

Also finished two more Sailor Moon S DVD Reviews! One for Sailor Moon S Heart Collection 2 and another for Sailor Moon S Heart Collection 3. Both have screencaps of the DVD menus plus larger image scans of the reverse alternate covers that were released with the first print!

Also in case you missed the edited update in the previous post, I've updated the Gifts & Rewards page. Thank you everyone who's given me a gift! If I've somehow excluded a gift you gave me please send it to me again! I'm just really bad keeping my inbox cleaned and up to date.

MMM: Chibi Usa and Helios, DVD and Wallpapers

This week's Sailor Moon music video features one of my favourite couples in Sailor Moon, Chibi Usa / Rini and Helios / Pegasus!

Conducted a deliberate search to find a video of these two and found this one which is idealy set to Watashi Tachi ni Naritakute (aka Baby Baby Love). Hope you like it as much as I do.

In site news, I've gotten back into the DVD reviews, starting with Sailor Moon S Heart Collection 1. Slightly new format compared to previous DVD reviews, hope you like it! Also complete with screencaps of the DVD menus such as the main DVD menu, the chapter select, special features and more.

I've also gotten off my bum and uploaded all the gifts & pressies my wonderful online friends have sent me! While I read my email on a daily basis I always put off replying until the last possible second. I'm embarrassed to admit that I hadn't uploaded any of these since December!!! REALLY SORRY EVERYONE! Getting things like this really do make my day. Never feel unappreciated!!! Thank you Usagi, Noa and Fallen Angel Ceres!

Also, using Google Tools, I'm continually finding the Sailor Moon Wallpapers to be the most popular section on Moonkitty.net so have cleaned up all the pages for less scrolling and added some great Sailor Stars widescreen wallpapers to the collection. Really happy with them and am even using the Eternal Sailor Moon / Galaxia one on my own desktop right now.

Finally, I've finally updated my links page starting with credits and thanks to all the sites and people that have helped me out over the past 10 years. I know I've missed some people. If I have, please let me know.

Now, back to the episode guides and dvd reviews.... and my secret project!!!

Happy Friday! Let's get into the latest Sailor Moon news!

There's a new Sailor Moon comic strip up at MoonSticks featuring my fave Moonkitty, Artemis along with Luna and Hercules. Pretty funny stuff! Chibi really has an eye for Sailor Moon parody!

The SM Funny Faces Gallery has heaps more gallery updates! Well done!

I'll leave you now with something very cool that I discovered, a Sailor Moon Musical Fan Film!
These guys and girls are making their own Sailor Moon Musical (or "Sera Myu", though I'm not a fan of that phrase) but adapting it into a movie! They've released a sample of what to expect on YouTube and I'm really impressed! In fact I'm so looking forward to the finished film that I've now become affiliates with them (link up this weekend)! I'm also conducting and interview with them which will be up in a few weeks or so so stay tuned! Exciting stuff!

As I reported here, there's some possible activity in the Sailor Moon manga getting an English rerelease. I emailed Kodansha directly at their Japanese office and got this reply:

Basically she says that:

I can't tell you about international distribution at this time.

That could be interpreted many ways though it could maybe mean that something is happening right now with rights and she's not at liberty to discuss ongoing negotiations.... or maybe she just doesn't know. Important to note though that she never said that Sailor Moon would not and never be released outside Japan in English.

In site news, you've probably noticed a few subtle changes such as the Episode Spotlight now showing random episodes and the new DVD Spotlight featuring my DVD Reviews. I've also added a linkme code to the bottom of the side there as I do see people unable to find buttons and not sure how to link to me. Hope this makes it easier (we all had to start webdesign somewhere!).

Speaking of DVDs (well I was a few sentences back anyway, heehee), expect some new reviews up soon and with my new DVD drive coming next week expect some more episode guides as well!

Sailor Moon Manga Rerelease in 2009?

Was surfing around and stumbled across this post on how someone found release dates for Akira and Ghost in the Shell mangas at Amazon.ca for later in the year.

How is this connected to Sailor Moon? Well both series are owned by Kodansha which has basically killed or let expire any rights to their manga series' distribution in North America. This is one of the reasons the redesigned Sailor Moon manga that was released in Japan a couple of years ago never saw a release and the original Mixx English version of the Sailor Moon manga is now out of print.

With both Akira and Ghost in the Shell now officially being rereleased this signals Kodansha's move into direct distribution and could very well means a rerelease of the Sailor Moon manga is in the near future, especially considering how popular the manga was when first released in the U.S.

Have searched all Amazon sites for any new Sailor Moon releases and still nothing official but this is a very good sign.

Will keep you posted.

What a week! Got the new layout up and almost finished reformatting all the new sections!

Last night I was fixing up the Sailor Moon Shopping Guide and realised I had overwritten the file on the server with an old backup! Nooooooo!!!!! Needless to say, a simple reformatting turned into a lot of rewriting of content! Fixed most of it up but will be rewriting it all so it's a lot "smarter" sounding soon.

If I'm not doing overtime tomorrow, I'll launch the new site feature that I'm very excited about and sure that a lot of you have been after for a very long time. Actually don't think any other Sailor Moon site has what I'm planning! What is it? Stay tuned!

Moonsticks has another great comic strip online, this time featuring Iron Mouse and Galaxia. Is it just me or do they get funnier every week? Hope she manages to keep up with the weekly schedule! Also, when enough are made I wouldn't mind having them collected in a book! That's how much I love these comics!

SailorCosmos.org has some new "Ask the Senshi" questions up.

The fantastic Sailor Starlight site, Starlight Pops will be celebrating it's 9th year online this month! Congratulations! Time really does fly!!!
